We were just walking down the street one day, my husband and I, chatting about whatever. Suddenly he turns to me and smiles and says "I like you." and I dunno why, maybe it was the way he said it, maybe I was just in a sentimental mood, but it struck me as the sweetest, most touching thing he could have ever possibly said to me. Don't get me wrong, we tell each other we love each other very regularly, but I guess in that moment I suddenly realized that he didn't just love me as his wife, but liked me as a person. I guess it's weird, and hard to grasp what the difference means, but I think our marriage works so well because we don't just love each other, but we like each other too.

The sweetest moments are those simple kindnesses that come out of the blue, all of the big moments will bring a smile but it's those small things that bring tears to the eyes. There is a very real difference between liking someone and loving them, and both are equally amazing in their own way

At the end of my first disaster of a marriage my wife and I had the opportunity to talk to a marriage counselor and he told us something that we ignored at the time that actually made the most sense in hindsight. "You can never be in a truly healthy relationship if you are not in a healthy place yourself." In other words, if you have personal things you have not dealt with yourself, those things will get in the way of a good relationship. What I have seen of you and your wife, you do have interests in common, which is helpful, but you two seem to be in a good place by yourselves. You do not have individual burdening issues that you have to deal with. Small things sure, but they are not an issue with you guys. Self-confidence, self-worth, mistrust of others, the list could go on and on with issues that get in the way of healthy relationships. Your relationship is working because you guys have your shit together, basically.
@VioletEmerald
@VioletEmerald 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly, i think almost any relationship can work if BOTH people - key word BOTH - are emotionally healthy enough, but if one person is not healthy enough to handle basic life stuff and basic relationship stuff and doesn't have a secure attachment style, let alone both of them struggle with it, the relationship is not likely to work out. And SO many seemingly emotionally healthy adults really aren't. It seems like there are way more traumatized and unhealed people out there than healthy ones, especially when it comes to people who aren't already in healthy monogamous dating or marriage relationships and are still available to date you at ages 30 to 35.... It's all just a mess trying to find a relationship that works and is goals like this.

My husband and I have been together since we were 16 &17, married in our mid20s , we are now in our mid40s. One thing I think helps keep a relationship healthy is giving each other grace & space , especially if things are not going smoothly. I don't have all of the answers, we argue about stuff and disagree about things and parenting young adults is adding a new wrinkle to life, but we're in this together.

"Even with all the ways that we complement each other, if we stopped wanting to make it work, it wouldn't work anymore." You guys hit the nail on the head. If both people are committed to making it work, you'll stay together. Couples who make it through the hard times become stronger than ever.

You two are incredible. I've slowly been getting to watch more of your videos after like 10 years, and I love this topic. I bet you two have this type of conversation often. I feel like, if you have this kind of conversation in your relationship often, it shows maturity and a want to figure out why it's working so you can keep it chugging along. Big hearts

Love the main message of this video, something that my partner and I live by: if you want it to work, then try to make it work. Everyone nowadays is always looking for instant gratification but sometimes it takes a long time to build something and maintain it. Also loved the eagle punch, makes me nostalgic and remember the years I watched Wheezy a longgg time agoo.

Thanks for your videos. I've only watched two so far. But I subscribed three-quarters of the way through my first one. I laughed out loud. It's been awhile since I've done that with a KZbin video.

Awe great advice. The underlying respect for each other is so obvious. Every couple needs that. And humor.

My boyfriend and I share so many qualities that you two do! This is wild to me because it feels like our relationship is so atypical to other young couples I know in our region (tha South). We’ve been together for a long time which is another reason I feel our relationship is different than others. It’s nice to see qualities I see in my relationship kinda “represented” out here on KZbin.
