I followed it to a T and my hair got damaged beyond comprehension! So it’s very frustrating for someone to try and discredit the very real and traumatic experiences from it all. I’ve had to literally cut all my hair off and will be going in for another cut tomorrow. I pray this is the last one to get me right because if not I’m basically gonna be left bald headed. 😫 So to have Untwisted come at me and Rosie on Jenn’s video was so insulting. Then she twisted my words by not fully quoting me which took what I said completely out of context! Next she tried to play innocent and act as though she had been bullied yet she was the true bully in this situation!😑 Y’all this has been emotionally and mentally taxing on me! I’m tired of the tomfoolery! Narada thank you for standing up for us AGAIN! Hopefully these die hard BGC cult acting members (yeah I said it!😣) will eventually leave us alone because it’s ridiculous already!!!

BGC are one trick ponies. So if your styling system supposedly only has a very limited list of “approved” products and if someone even slips up a little bit it causes damages. Maybe it’s time to do some self reflection on the system you created and the vulnerable state it puts peoples hair in….

I just want to know: In what world does it make sense that your wash''n'go won't come out right "the first time." Not all wash'n'gos are created equal. You have to stop chasing a certain look. Aisha lately as been saying they are "results oriented". You are correct when you said they only know how to do one thing . Think about it...Aisha has only been a stylist for a few short years. She perfected that one cut and found out how to freeze dry hair so it last for 7-10 days. It is not about health...just style.

Just to put things in perspective., Aishia and I went to beauty school and got our licenses around the same time. To say she hasn't had enough time to develop or expand is either due to her choice or because she's not good at anything else. I'm not good with straight hair so i leave it alone. I definitely understand that not all stylists are cut from the same cloth and many of them have backgrounds and certifications in other disciplines of cutting and styling.

A long time ago, someone made a similar comment on BGC's Instagram page. They responded by posting several pictures of cuts that were supposedly different. They looked the same to me: extremely angular cuts with side parts. What's sad is that the stylists often cut the hair, without taking the clients' face structures into consideration.

Yes it is nitpicking because BGC actually encourages color and says don’t be afraid to get color. I had my hair professionally colored by the cut it kinky stylist that was on their recommended list. I followed their METHOD to the T including going to the cut it kinky stylists and getting trims EVERY 3 MONTHS and I still had damage. I found that the products that they recommend are too drying for the hair. PERIOD! I am thankful to Rosie and Shelly every day for bringing this out because I was trying to figure out why my hair started acting up in January 2023 and it never dawned on me that it was the method because I was practicing the hydration method prior to starting BGC’s method which I believed to be similar. The major difference was the products. I’m over it! Currently doing things differently and am no longer a member of BGC. I CANCELLED MY SUBSCRIPTION LAST YEAR! Everything is not for everyone and those products are NOT FOR MY HAIR! Some of the products don’t work well together (i.e. caused webbing when I used them together and dried my hair out)

@AfrikanHairGod: So glad you mentioned that the BGC “method” is just a knock-off of the Internet-famous “Curly Girl Method”. Quick backstory: The first curly cut/styling technique I remember was back in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s - Ouidad. I had two Jewish dorm-mates with very curly hair; one with looser, “smoother” curls (natural bright red head), the other brunette/auburn with curls almost as tight as mine. Before Ouidad became a brand she worked out a salon in Rhode Island and formulated her own products in-house. Then later opened her first salon in NYC. Even before NYC, my dorm-mates lived for Ouidad cuts. I clearly remember the red head on the phone with Mom in a crying/screaming melt-down because she couldn’t get an appointment before meeting her boyfriend’s parents. Truly red head was moments away from rending her clothes 🤣. Over the decades, I must admit Ouidad cuts are truly stunning. Nowadays there are both Ouidad certified stylists, and Ouidad certified salons, as well as a full product line. If you can’t find a “preferred” product the shampoo/conditioners are pretty good in a fix, and the anti-climate gel will do to tame frizzies. If I were inclined to get a “curly cut”, I’d definitely contact a Ouidad salon before I’d trust some Random with only Internet fame 😅.

I like Ouidad carve and slice technique. They don't hack up people's hair even when it's a Black girl with a tighter curl pattern. I have also seen it translate well when flatironed.

I rather her have followed Anthony Dicky’s Method and at least he says use what works for your hair he is pro conditioner and says curlie cuts are BS if you aren’t going to do a full trim and then go back and do the shaping. If her hair is that dense she MUST make sure the scalp is DRY. They charged her up the butt for the scalp view… and how you not have a hooded dryer that will dry her hair completely.

That curly cut video was so traumatizing to watch. I had the EXACT same experience but trusted the process so I stayed silent and let the stylist chop off inches of my 4c hair that took way too long to grow in the first place. When I finally left that salon and went to a different stylist for a blow dry and corrective cut she said my hair looked like it had been cut with zigzag scissors 😢!!!

First off I felt, in hindsight, it might have been best for her and going forward with anybody she has an issue with that she sit on her thoughts, sleep on them, then make her decision. It kinda sucks being under the impression that everything is cool only to find out that they were actually bothered. It's a learning lesson of being honest with oneself. Secondly, I can't get over how she has been doing her hair for 3 years - keeping it short all of her life whether natural or straight - and it's still a struggle where she's detangling for hours. Something is not right. Either her technique is all wrong, or her stylists are jacking up her hair where she has a constant setback, or she has unreasonable expectations for her hair e.g trying to mimic the curls of 3a-3c instead of accepting how her optimal wash n go results is going to look with her curl pattern. I don't understand why she doesn't just resort to a twist out if a wash n go is such a struggle to achieve EVEN with her stylist's service. And lastly - I really despise the way her hair was cut. It's so unprofessionally done. The darn stylist does not care to understand afro-textured hair and natural haircare. I don't understand what made either of them think her method of cutting and how often it was going to be cut throughout the year was going to yield even looking, full, healthy hair. She didn't inspect closely for damage. A failed wash n go is not indicative of damage. Overall, I cannot stand stylists like her. They have no qualm jacking up people's hair and what disgusts me about them is that instead of admitting they messed up or that they are incapable of giving the client what they asked for because they lack the skills, they will try to convince the client that it's something they are doing at home that is causing problems. Stylists should not be relying on deceit just to have someone in their chair. Stylists like them need to stay out of business until they polish their skills, in my opinion. Hair is big deal to both man and woman, and there was no empathy or consideration towards the KZbinr. That stylist was taking advantage of her naivety (or lack of accountability since she doesn't want to admit that maybe she patronized a terrible stylist for so long). Overall, I don't understand how one could defend a method, a person, or routine that is not beneficial to oneself. Hopefully she sees this video and realizes that she just might have got it all wrong and find other methods that work in her favor. Caring for natural hair should not be hard especially when it's short and when you have come to accept your hair for how beautiful it is in its own uniqueness.

You know what would have solved her problem? Some oil and leave in😂😂. That hair is drier than cracked lips 😂😂😂😂. You know what solves cracked lips and heels? Some oil!! Dryness is probably the top factor in splits, with mechanical damage being a close second and ironically, bgc wng's seem to encourage both factors lol. Nobody questions this when it comes to skin care. But suddenly it's all confusion, angst and drama, methods, philosophies, and arbitrary concepts of "damage" when it comes to hair. Hair has been moisturized with oil and hardly cut (where length was intended) for millenia! All the sudden, we know better than a millenia worth of knowledge. We're doing everything opposite the knowledge and wonder why we're having problems. Smh.

I don't think my hair is "meant for" wash and goes either. It's not about not liking the texture. It's just so hard to detangle after, compared to ✨twist outs✨ When my hair is in a twist out it's easiest for me to manage. I don't even comb out my twist out before I wash my hair because it makes detangling it while washing it easier in the beginning of the wash. That's what works for me though. Some people have never experienced criticism or confrontation, so they don’t know how to process it. It was right for you to speak up because Gabrielle was definitely being preyed upon. She was struggling and has been led to believe that all the cutting and detoxing would help. Honestly, better hair tools and perfecting her twistout technique would've been better for her. The stylist seemed to be cutting the hair based on how it felt in her hands. Whatever part felt rougher than the rest is the part that "needed" to go. I'm wondering if the CIK stylists are being taught that natural hair should feel a certain way or something like that? That could explain why the cuts end up being similiar because they're cutting by touch and not by design. You should definitely keep speaking out against practices that are harming people's hair, especially for those who already have a hard time dealing with their hair. A lot of black women are still developing a relationship with their hair, so it's important for the methods to facilitate that relationship and not set it back.

@@Spokentruths725 Well when I was thinking about getting a curly cut, I really wanted a Rezo-trained stylist to do it. I really like the softer shapes they try to do - AND they'll do middle-part and no-part (round) cuts at least. It isn't a TON of variety but definitely more than the one cut lol. To be honest it's hard to find many examples of type 4 hair with a lot of these curly cut systems, but generally when I do see them, I feel like there's a lot more creative freedom with them verses CIK.

This whole thing is just unfortunate. You did what was requested, sent her a msg with an apology, and she came back 3 months later with her "comments" via video!? Oh please. I speculate who she is listening to; herself or messy folks whispering in her ear. Either way, that was a weak move on her part. You've given, and continue to give, tons of free guidance and information regarding natural hair care to those who are willing and open to receive it. For those who are not willing to at least listen and contemplate what you're saying, leave them be...let them figure it out on their own.

Since continuing these videos, and watching others on Instagram and TikTok, there’s no true technique to a curly cut they literally just cut whatever they want and everyone’s cut is the same, the client is supposed to tell you the shape they want not everyone get the same damn shape it’s crazy. Everyone gets that weird lopsided triangular cut

"Hair abuse" is definitely the word - I do wonder if the CIK philosophy attracts a certain kind of stylist that gets an unhealthy pleasure from hacking at people's hair. Between the way this stylist talks to/about the people in her chair, and how much they love to cut off... feels like a control tactic. Make the client feel bad about their hair, and have them feel indebted to the stylist who will 'save' them from the short cut 🙄 this was not a cut done out of love or for the health of the hair.

@@moonzy172 they definitely pick specific people. It’s a set worker program‼️🤣 Mama was doing just fine by herself. She just needs to find a stylist who does good blow outs and cuts so she can get her trims and lil shape when needed. She easily spent $1000.00 for a $50 Walmart hair cut. The maths ain’t mathing and this is what pisses me off about those CIK stylists. They’re acting like they’re the crème de la crème but it’s just expensive tools , illusions and smoke screens.

People take it as a personal attack when you say anything about their hair. I understand, it's coming out of left field, initially, but when you take the time to explain it w/o shade any continued issue is all ego. Feelings are hurt, you just got told your hair was damaged--publicly, and maybe you're in denial... Also, you can really pick up on people's insecurities when they insinuate that someone is saying something because of the hair texture/type. I know you would NEVER say something negative about someone's natural texture or curl pattern, so that insinuation was all internalized.

1:42:09 was hilarious to watch the 🙇🙇to "these stylists are absolute garbage" 😂😂😂 This reminds me of before the natural hair movement my growth on my relaxed hair had stylists blame me for no wrapping at night, not braiding my hair, etc. Then once they relaxed if thry acted like heroes. I knew better but couldnt speak up so i would not come back. Only a few stylists understood my natural hair and thats who i stayed with. But this brought back memories. She had to respond to you because she is not in your chair and was trying to justify her staying with this stylist. OH NO!!! Not that if she cuts off anymore she will be going to ELITE Haircaee😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

U had me get a paddle brush and blow my hair out to do my trim. So my stylist did recommend innersense. I have been using kinky curly for over a decade. And I finally said ok I will try the innersense and spent double the money on those products and by day 3 it’s ever so dry and frizzy! I tried for weeks to figure out what I’m doing wrong. N I gave up and went back to my kinky curly. I know u r saying it’s the curly cuts. But I think somethings up with those styling products.

I agree I tried Innersense I create hold. And I personally like my hair to be a fro shape soft flexible hold. This gel made it stiff and straightened the curl. And it was hard no matter what I did. I feel like those curly cut videos I see on Instagram the hair just looks stiff and dry and trying to make the hair lay in a unnatural way. It’s all rooted in texturism. Stick to what works for you.

I am sorry Narada. I watched your reaction to her salon visit. You were sympathetic to Gabrielle. Your criticism was about how the stylist was treating her hair. She must be a very sensitive person. Poor soul. GOD help her. She will have to develop a thick skin if she wants to post videos online. What happened, Narada? I remember in one of your Watch Parties you said that you were not going to mention Gabrielle's name or respond to her video. I hope she or someone else who does or gets curly cuts did not come after you again. I empathize with you. Do not worry about those people. You did nothing wrong. You were trying to help her. It was extremely inappropriate for her to title a video "Curl Talk: Texturism in the Natural Hair Community" and focus her accusations solely against you. Unbelievable! What she did was thoughtless to appease her hurt feelings. You apologized to her. What more does she want! Why make such a video about you! That was very immature and totally unnecessary. Clearly, Gabrielle does not watch your videos. You have said on more than one occasion that you love working with textured hair. You have said that you love working with textured hair because you can do more with it than hair with a looser curl pattern. You have stated that you do not know why some people do not like textured (type 4) hair because it is very beautiful and versatile. You are the last person that I would call texturist or hating type 4 hair as she strongly implied! She should have watched some of your videos to get to know you better. She would have seen that her opinion of you is very wrong. GOD bless you, Narada. Much love. 💕🙏

I hope that BGC and CIK is the last natural hair gimmick that costs Black women thousands or dollars for substandard results / that leads to more hostility within our hair care community. I’ve been natural since 2013/2014 and I’ve just seen it all and I’m so tired of it. There are A HANDFUL of stylists and bloggers actually documenting progression over a realistic time period and they’ve been saying the same thing for YEARS when it comes to Afro hair care. As for these snake oil salesmen and women…Yeah it’s gone from misinformation (no harm intended) to self-fulfilling DISinformation (harm intended).

I agree but I actually did reach out prior to the clips. I think it would've been fake for me to act like i never reacted or responded the way that i did in my live and then reach out to her. I'm just not disingenuous like that. I think it's rather dishonest to present or act one way while trying to hide your actions prior to... It was just never meant for me to reach out to her at all. I should've stuck to my guns and minded my business. She said she was subscribed but it couldn't have been for very long if she was that taken aback by my delivery. I'm not saying she shouldn't feel some type of way but how she maneuvered with this after the fact is what bothered me. I honored your request to delete it just for you to go back and talk about it which is well within her right to do just to make all sorts of disparaging and erroneous claims about me is what i have issue with. You purposely manipulate me to delete footage just so that you could run with your own narrative and not allow anyone to refute it. But it's obvious that she definitely had ppl in her ear because she states that she watched me and Shelly's videos at first but then her video is in direct response to everything I've been speaking on with this matter. She had an agenda and ulterior motives to plant seeds of doubt while trying to take up for and defend Aishia. Me speaking on Aishia is really what bothered her more than anything i think.

This is extremely sad all around. She was better off doing her own hair at home. And I actually do not believe that she loves her hair the way it is, because if she did, she wouldn’t constantly agree with someone telling her that her hair needs “fixing” or that her hair is “damaged”. She seems really lost with her hair. You can’t convince me she likes her texture. So who’s the real texurist? 👀👀
