Apparently, there are 252 special moves and 826 total moves (574 attacking moves). Assuming you always kill (which you won't with moves like false swipe/sonic boom, immunities, abilities, accuracy, etc. but we'll disregard that in this simplification) with your attacking move, you have a 252/826 = 0.305 = 30.5% chance to spare a mon using metronome. Consequently, you have a 69.5% chance to kill a mon on the first turn, using metronome.

@@KarlaO711 No, you could calculate the mean hit rate for all the moves. However, there were too many moves for this to make sense. I suspect it's around 85-90%. But when factoring in probability of immunities, misses, random absorbing abilities and so on, it gets complicated fast. The 'real' chance to spare a pokemon with metronome on turn one is realistically higher and closer to 35-40% (but this is purely based on educated guessing).

In Sword and Shield (since a number of moves from previous games were cut, and some were added), 206 of the moves are status moves, and 391 are classed as attacks. Out of those, 34 status moves (including itself) and 30 attacking moves can't be chosen by metronome. After calculating what it has the options for and what it can't, that means there's a 32.3% (roughly 1/3) chance it will use a status move... And this is why you never ask somebody with neurodivergence a semi-serious math problem at 3am. They (and I mean, I) will take it literally and start counting... Additionally, to work out if you'd even hit it with any attacking move, you'd need to average out all of the accuracies of all attacks. To work out the probability of hitting a ghost type with normal or fighting attacks, you work out the percentage of ghosts in the region multiplied by the percentage of available normal and fighting attacks, compared to all available moves... Not to mention things like Sturdy ability, False Swipe, and whatever else would throw the results. Just roughly 1/3 status, 2/3 attack. This math is the kind of stuff that keeps me up for hours aha

@@zephoaxi5050 obvi there will be outliers I’m just saying that if they did this at a lower level it would be more interesting because every move would have suspense instead of most way under leveled Pokémon going down in one hit. I remember someone put the attack/status ratio in the live chat so it’s pretty likely it’s going down. Only two Pokémon in this video were caught after being hit with an attacking move, one from a miss, another from a type immunity; every other Pokémon was caught with a status move. Also I’m no master but isn’t galarian wheezing’s highest stat defense anyways? Edit: looked it up, infestation in special so my last point is irrelevant 😅

You were right to switch Genesect out, but while he's not fast af, he's also not slow. Base 99 speed puts him at over 300 top speed at Lv100 with a + nature. Nothing over 300 top speed is "slow", but Cinderace is a bit faster with base 119.

It comes down to the randomized stats. You catch them at lv 13ish usually and fight at 50 so the stats raise accordingly. There have been some gems you guys found and have passed on because of the name. Pay close attention sirs!!

Rotom Rally is for the Wild Area on your bicycle. Actually it's rather useful. You get two TMs from finishing both courses. Thunder Wave, n Volt Switch. Cinderace is just a little faster than Genesect. Genesect base speed is 100. Dont count it out.

Hi chilln, i have a suggestion for versus challenge. Both of you find 6 pokemon that could evolve into mega evolution, then you fight but you can use mega evolution for one of those. Gonna ask again for a completely randomised starter challenge. So the idea is the same as when you pick each other's starters say by knowing the typing or guessing the name is german and such BUT this time you know the name, but cuz of the randomiser you dont know the typing which can lead to some massive shenanigans such as a dragon type shuckle or a poison type rayquaza.
