I respect demos, because I really like to use them, especially in 1s. I demo so much in 1s because it basically gives me free possession and on many occasions a free goal. I am a New England Patriots fan who lives in NYC so I know what it's liked to be hated. Over the years I have learned to embrace the hate that comes from salty NFL fans, and it's the same thing with demos. I love it when people in chat say f*** you, and gkys and stuff like that because what their getting mad about is so stupid and I know their wrong when they say that demos don't take skill. I am also a Gold so people aren't the best at avoiding demos.

Anyone who has actually tried to demo much knows it is extremely difficult to pull it off successfully because you are pretty much taking yourself out of the game and the only way to benefit from it is to consistently get 1-2 demos on every attempt. If you don't, then your team is in a 2v3 and you get scored on real quick. Getting demos consistently is tremendously difficult at plat or above because people often move too fast for your boost supply, jump in the air for aerials, or go on the wall. Because of this, I respect players like woody and rocket sledge who can pull this off.

Yeah it's definitely a skill, I've been trying to work on getting better at it. But you don't need to take yourself out of the game while doing it. My teammates and I often do a 'slow cross' move where you dribble it along the wing, then as you come to the corner you either just leave the ball to turn the corner itself or push it up the wall a bit, then boost ahead of the ball and go for the goalkeeper in net; if you miss them then either rotate back to center or get their other corner boost to starve them. Best case scenario you take out the goalkeeper and your teammates get the easiest goal as it rolls in front of the goal; worst case you miss and the opponent clears it to your waiting teammate (and you are rotating back to get back in position). It's a bit riskier in 2s since you're committing your whole team to the attack, but even more effective when you pull it off. That being said I'm C1/2 not C3/GC so Woody is a whole other level of tactics to deal with! I think the real skill is lining up your opponent's in ways where even if they dodge you successfully it still disadvantages them. Also knowing when to maximise the risk/reward.

Whenever I play pros in 1s I notice that they're solid mechanically, but I've always said it's like they have a sixth sense when it comes to avoiding demos -- it's probably the most stark difference for me vs regular GCs (since I'm a pretty demo heavy player). It's hard to demo GCs as we're somewhat aware, but these guys are another level. They're just so efficient with their pathing. I can imagine that's how lower ranked players feel trying to demo GCs: there is 100% a ton of skill in hitting demos on good players (not saying Woody is low ranked though).

No, pulling of a flip reset or ceiling shot at a higher level is even harder when the opponents aerial challenges are always going to be good. That is why in rlcs when someone pulls of a ceiling shot or flip reset everyone one goes crazy because everyone is super high skilled

It's cause the majority of the community is not "higher level," so it's very easy to bump and demo. Even at higher level, it's certainly easier to go for a bump/demo than it is to avoid one. All it comes down to is knowing where the opponent has to be to save a shot, and driving at that spot. If you demo, great. If you bump, they still aren't saving it. If you miss, still, depending on your timing, the opponent might not be able to get back to the ball after avoiding you. Sure, saying they take "no skill" is exaggerating, but they aren't a difficult mechanic to pull off.

Sure, flip resets are more mechanically difficult (I certainly get more hyped from a flip reset than an average demo goal) but that doesn't mean that being excellent at demos isn't a difficult task. If it was so easy, everybody would play like Woody: every reasonable playstyle is equally hard because people push them to their limits.

Because its cheap and annoying, its like if you played soccer/football without fouls it would just turn into a blood bath and every player would be maimed by the end of the game. I think anyone would be pissed if they were getting demoed constantly since you cant contribute to the game at all coz you aren't really in the game. This is coming from someone who has hated the demo mechanic from the very beginning so yeah Im biased but it is a pretty lame way to play if you win because the opponent is literally unable to defend anything because they are demoed, but hey winnings winning right?

@@johnkeane2183 Demo'ing is a legit mechanic. It's not as easy as people think or else everyone would do it and it would become OP. Avoiding demos is also a mechanic lol. Having good game sense to know where all the players are at on the field, the ability to control your car if you have to jump to make a save and avoid the bump, it all comes in to play. You can't ignore this aspect of the game

Hey Sunless, great video! Here is an idea for a rocket league experiment. You would have a lower rank rocket league player (bronze - plat) a medium rank rocket league player (diamond - low champ) and a high level rocket league player. (High GC - RLCS pro) You would have all of them play a few matches with an eye tracker and compare the results. Hope you like this idea!

It's not being used as intended. Infact in the tos unsportsmanlike conduct is against the rules. They just don't enforce the rules. If you break the rules and don't get caught you are still the trash. Not the people yelling at you for breaking the rules.

Hated that aspect from the very beginning and I'm pretty sure anyone would rage at getting demoed constantly, like literally he demoed the guy on respawn like 3 times in a row, that is going to suck. Think about it you decide I know what to do with my free time I'll enjoy some rocket league and then you play a game where 80% of the time you are waiting to respawn just to get demoed again, that's gonna feel like a big waste of time.
