The ref is actually wrong here for stopping play for illegal equipment (rule 3.1a) The measurement of any equipment (players’ and goaltenders’ sticks, goaltenders’ pads and gloves) will be carried out immediately, at the Referee’s crease, when requested by a team at a stoppage of play, by a Captain or Alternate Captain. No measurements of any kind will be carried out by the Referee unless a formal request has been made by a team, via the Captain or Alternate Captain.

as a 3d printing hobbyist, I can tell these blades didn't have enough walls to be strong enough. Also you would've needed a more flexible material more than a strong one. That way it would have been able to absorb shocks a bit more. Polycarbonate would've have been better imo.
@platapus1122 ай бұрын
Cf6 nylon is probably the correct choice but whoever did the cad design gave it absolutely zero integrity. They could have probably kept the walls but redesigned the infill to actually give it support. I'm curious about this and I'm gonna try to do it when I get home
@sampic_2 ай бұрын
@@platapus112 I just rewatched the part where they show the broken blade and they used the worst infill... Rectilinear. If only it was triangles or gyroid it would have been slightly better.
@platapus1122 ай бұрын
@@sampic_ honestly gyroid with deltas probably would have actually supported it. The hossel is the weak point always

@ That’s where the live bidding from fans come in. I’m sure Jesse’s jersey would go to a fan who would spend maybe a couple hundred on it to have it framed as a funny memory keepsake which in turn would more than likely give Jesse enough money to go get a new jersey. I’m a massive game worn jersey collector of the CHL so I’m well aware of costs.

Not gonna lie, when I heard the CEO/founder of a company that specializes in 3D printing say he put glue stick on a 10k machine, I died a little inside. I have never used ANY kind of adhesive when 3D printing, and I'm just using a shitty $350 Ender 5 Pro that I've kitted out over the years. If I were a professional with "professional" grade equipment, I'd be embarrassed AF to say I had to use glue stick, and doubly so doing it *on camera*. Edit: Also, after watching the full video with a bunch of broken sticks, I'm questioning how much this company actually knows about 3D printing. Why in the actual fu*k would you 3D print a hockey stick with anything less than 100% infill? 3D printing *is* there already, you just need to have someone who knows WTF they're doing with the technology.
@username776325 күн бұрын
Yeah I was also surprised it didn't have 100% infill. Maybe concern over weight? Even small changes in weight in the blade can change the balance. Do you print nylon? For me, it depends on the kind of filament I use and the bed material. Nylon doesn't stick to much very well. Some need adhesive to stick and some need adhesive just to be able to be removed.

Interesting video, but, honestly I'm surprised of the poor quality you got from a company that specializes in just that - 3D printing. The infill they chose also looked like a pretty bad decision as it is one of the weakest one for impact. The parts looked way flimsier than needed, I bet with a slight redesign, and, modified print settings it would be way more durable... Maybe they gave this project to an intern?

You had a professional company print those, and they didn't use 100% infill? I would highly recommend never going back there, and maybe ask for your money back. Any random Jeff with an Ender 3 and some basic hockey knowledge would tell you it has to be 100% infill.

3D printing, much like AI is often a solution in search of a problem. In other words totally unnecessary for this yet it takes up so much of the time
