Thanks for watching our first weekly vlog! It's been a roller coaster week of highs and lows but in moments of relative calm, we picked up the camera and brought you along with us.
Some of our favourite places featured in the vlog were the Christchurch Botanical Gardens (located in Hagley Park), C1 Espresso for food which is delivered to your table via pneumonic tubes and the New Regents St which has rainbow coloured buildings and a tram running through the middle!
Follow along in real time over on our Instagram page:

Hi guys! I currently live in Salford, and have been in the UK for 18 years. I was actually born in Scotland, but moved to NZ with my Kiwi mother as a baby. I lived in Christchurch from age 4 to age 27, and seeing this video gives me serious nostalgia. My uncle used to work as a gardener at the Botanical Gardens, I used to work at the Millennium Hotel next to the Cathedral, (now the Distinction.) It's sad to see how many empty spaces there are in the central city that have memories for me. Over the road from the Cathedral used to be the Christchurch Press daily newspaper, which used to have pneumatic tubes taking things to and from reporter's desks. Also over the road from the Cathedral was Warner's hotel and backpackers, in which Bailey's Bar was a hangout for local hotel staff, backpackers, international scientists involved with the Antarctic bases and US military who flew everyone down there. Once I caught a secret show that Radiohead played there, and in '97 Christchurch hosted the APEC conference and Bill Clinton stayed at the Millennium. I remember playing pool with members of the US Secret Service. I I am pleased to see that a couple of my old haunts are still around, the Arts Centre (where I once catered a medieval banquet in the Great Hall, hosted by Mark Hadlow, who went on to play one of the Dwarves in "The Hobbit".) I see C1 Espresso is still going strong. Thanks for posting this video, I will now look at all your other NZ vids. Christchurch is a great place to be based for exploring the whole South Island! You have to work hard not to love it.

Hi Michael, thank you so much for commenting and watching! I’m glad it brought back some memories for you, it sounds like they were really happy ones too😊 Radiohead would have been an amazing gig to have gone to! Have you been back to NZ since you left aged 27? We really love Christchurch and will find it hard to leave this week. It has a great mix of everything and feels really manageable to see and know your way around. The Botanical Gardens are one of my favourite parts! Please keep sharing your gorgeous memories of places you recognise. Thank you for watching along with our videos!😊

"Everything looks very American." *several boxes of Twinings, by Appointmnt of HM QEII, just sitting there staring back in hurt and disbelief* 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You'll find that actually New Zealand has all the best of both worlds, British and American, except (as luck would have it) probably the things you love the most. And, naturally, the best of all is made right here in NZ. 😁
