Unbelievable patience, you're both awesome parents. I always referred to our kids during those days as "bumblebee participants". I just love that shelf above the doorway in the bathroom I need one like that in my kitchen for my recipe books. Out of the way, but not in a bookcase in another room. Sawyer's speech is coming on leaps and bounds, the advantage of being the younger sibling, you have an older sibling to talk to.

Before adding green to your stairwell I’d buy a small quart or half gallon can of your hall paint but in high gloss sheen. Paint the walls 1/2 way up (above where boys can reach) with high gloss paint that is typically something you can wipe with a damp cloth as stains appear.

I've done that in my hall to avoid wet dog splatters, easy to wipe clean, works a dream. I also added a trim to divide gloss from wall paint

John deserves a giant medal & he really does have the patience of a saint, plus a giant dash of humour thrown in. The hand print comment made me chuckle. When my boys were small, I worked evenings & their dad looked after them. I came home one evening to be greeted by a row of red hand prints on the wall, they led me to my toddler ( who was supposed to be asleep in bed) covered in red poster paint that he had climbed up a shelf to retrieve. My husband was down the garden raking leaves, completely oblivious to the chaos in the house! 😂It was a nightmare at the time but is now an often repeated family anecdote. Such memories are precious & to be treasured ❤ We kept the handprints whilst we lived in that house ❤

We had to re child proof the house yet again after this incidence, my middle boy who had Sawyer's golden curls, was an expert at getting around whatever we did. I am happy to report he did survive & is now a Civil Engineer which is the perfect profession for him ❤It is an adventure raising a bunch of boys ❤

I think that would keep them busy for at least 30 seconds :) ...I used semigloss paint on my walls when my kids were little because it just wipes clean...

I always kept an additional gallon of matching wall paint, and every six months, or so, I'd take a roller and roll on some paint half way up the hall walls and feather it in. That took care of all the little hand prints nicely.

John when putting boards together, for long term use, if they come apart; you can use a biscuit joiner w glue. OR just drill a few matching holes, in board edges. Cut dowels then glue and join, clamp.
