Hurricane/Tropical storm Helene went right through our city Asheville, North Carolina. I can’t tell you how bad it has been and so many of us are still without power and water. I have enough cell signal to finally be able to watch the Scotters. Yay!

I just love the phrase "off with the fairies." Here in the US, it's called day dreaming. I spent my entire childhood day dreaming. It would have been so much more fun to hear my teachers and my mom complaining that I was off with the fairies again. It just opens the door for so many more adventures.

Some years ago, my son and I house-sat at a place that had goats and horse. We were not trained in such animal care. One helpful thing we found was to ring a bell each time we fed everyone, then whenever they ran off, ringing a bell would bring them back to the feeding place. Magic!!

Weird hearing you guys are being affected by our hurricanes. I had hurricane Helene’s eye come about 15 miles away from me and we lost power for about four days. Lots of broken trees and damage to people’s homes around us. We did good though. And Milton was much further south of me. Please be careful with old dead trees. Glad your having them taken down.

screw in the finger, omg, I know exactly how that feels, did it myself when putting a latch on a gate, amazing how there is a delayed reaction to what has just happened then knowing you have to unscrew it. Yeah, and it hurts for quite a long time after. Roof looking fab.

Wondering how many days it took to do the roof.. badger you work really hard. Key word for everything is to finish everything you start and remain focused.. it’s so easy for our minds to whisper how tired we are .. then we slack off .. living off grid is a constant preparation and attention and planning for everything.. not everyone is mentally geared to work every day and every minute .. in the end it is about survival and doing it wellAnd setting an example to your children on working hard and doing it well

I think you need a metal gate for the pigs. Thank heavens you had the Mind Magic! Imagine where the screw would have ended up without it? So, if the wind could take out the poplar, does that mean it'll take out the poplar on the other side of the driveway?

it would be advisable to install the valley gutter before you go to far. Otherwise you will need to remove some of the tiles to be able to fix it in place.

Great video once again. Poplars dont like wet feet, and as we had way to much rain over the last years , you see lots of trees dying. Maybe they died becouse of that. Also if you want you tree to be healthy... get the hedera/ivy of tree trunk.

Your roof starts to look great. I am puzzled by the choice of tile type. I see nothing to stop rain that lands directly on the narrow gap between the tiles going directly onto the membrane below and down to the next strip of wood. Tile overlap is short top and bottom. To me, this spells trouble. What say you?

I know this might be hindsight but, isn’t the first layer of tiles doubled up so there’s no initial gaps? This also compensates for the difference in pitch of the first layer. This might be old school but just wanted to cover the base before you go too far. Magic work so far though, thoroughly enjoy all your antics and love for life. 🤢 the screw through finger I sympathise with, I managed to cut into my thumb when a hand saw trapped and bowed during one of my escapades.

Everyone understands you love the trees, but have you considered clearing virtually all that row and planting a row of grape vines. I know you would lose some shade, but much less fire risk and it would be getting the terraces back to what they were built for. You're never going to harvest olives without mature trees, so grapes might be a fun little side-hustle income stream €€€. Perhaps a few orange and pomegranate too.
