I really like Jasper and Levi. Really happy for you, Harlow! I know how lovely it is to see the young ones grow up and become great horses since I fully trained my 4 year old when I was 13. He seems really relaxed, my girl was really scared when she moved barns for the first time.

From my own experiences of owing a pony since she was 3 years old, patience is key, letting him see fillers, flags, umbrellas, and doing regular in hand work over poles, raised poles.. all will be useful as they get older. Regular trailer practice is something I found very important with my youngster, having dinner in the trailer to let them see it is a nice space!

Fair warning: Most horses are not going to be ready for showing after a year under saddle. Of course, every horse is different, but most will not be. It takes months of work of just desensitization and basic stuff before the first ride. I wish you guys the best of luck with this new pony, and please take it slow. Disaster happens when you rush it.

Some of the comments are hilarious. "Experts" but can't tell the difference between Harlow and Chelsea talking about their baby Welsh B and getting excited about their future plans with him or Rolo their Dartmoor pony that was being jumped. But what a testimony to Harlow's riding if they really thought she could take the new baby from being unbacked as they mentioned numerous times to suddenly being jumped in a full out course of combination fences in the next minute lol. Keep up the good work, Harlow and Chelsea! Those who follow you know the deal and what genuine horsey people you are even if you haven't been training horses for 100 years. xx

He's gorgeous. When I was 19 I bought an unbroken, unhandled 3 year old welsh section B colt. for £35. That was a whole different experience. I learned an awful lot, training him. First thing was getting him gelded, he always had the coltish behaviour for a long time after. Backed him with another horsey friend as we were both qualified having trained at the same place. Did amazing showing inhand but I never got to show him under saddle and sold him to be a childs pony. You will learn loads with him Harlow, looking forward to watching you both, I really like the name Bracken or Samson, Oakley, snoopy.

It takes a long time to train a young horse. By the time you are done, Harlow will have grown, and she will already have outgrown him. This is not sustainable. Why don't they get her an actual horse that will be worth the effort and she will be able to ride for years.

How rude. It’s a great experience for her, if she outgrows riding it, it can get handed down. She will get Horses soon enough. This is a wonderful journey for her. Why so negative? Just one question is if you would show us where his stable will be in the new stable your building? My favourite horse names are Pirate, Ranger, jasper, comet. He looks like the perfect size for Harlow as you are growing.

I think a great name for him would be Smartie. this keeps on the kind of treat and snack theme you have with your ponies and smarties are normally brown inside with colours on the outside which reminds me of him and his grey mare and tail and obviously he is brown like a smartie!! congrats harlow 💕xx

What an absolutely beautiful pony! For a name, may I suggest 'Seren Aberhonddu' - which is Welsh for 'Star of Brecon'. Or just 'Seren' - which is Welsh for 'Star'. Or even "Star" if you'd rather keep it English. I love how Harlow is so enthusiastic and positively-motivated: I can see she's a real go-getter. I suspect that trait is inherited from her mother. I look forward to seeing more of the new pony.
