My husband and I went down dark paths and became addicts. After 21+ years together we got sober and now he being 3 years clean and I being 4 years we’re learning to love one another sober and it’s been tough and amazing all at once. We’re in counseling and taking it day at a time.

My husband and I have been married 33.5 years 🤪Marriage is HARD. It's rewarding and often fun, but it's WORK to keep it healthy. Especially when you've got kids. When they're little, they're super cute and exhausting, but when they get to MS, HS, into adulthood 💩gets REAL. So good you're in therapy now before things get out of control. Being married you just go through SO much over time. Things you never expected would happen actually happen. It can either break you or pull you closer. There are times when you want to give up, but don't. You married each other for a reason. You're both so sweet, and you have the cutest kids. Your family is too precious to let go of each other in the hard times! Blessings!❤

Go to counseling BEFORE you think you need it. Learn to fight fair. Learn compromising. Learn forgiveness. If you love your person. Be willing to do the work needed to make the love last. Love ebbs and flows. Passion ebbs and flows. Be willing to take on those life challenges together. The only key to not getting divorced is to just dont let the idea of divorce become a reality. It's not a word you even say to each other. Be willing to carry the load. Be willing to support.

From what I've seen, which is admittedly, just your on-screen personas, you two still seem great together. You also seem to have the right attitude to go the distance. I married my best friend nearly 41 years ago and I love him more with every year. Going through all of the ups and downs together is life and having your best friend to prop you up when you need it, hold you when you need to cry, and laugh with until you can't breathe, is worth everything. The fact that you have faced all that you have faced from pure joy to deep sadness and watching that video still makes you this emotional tells a lot about you both and the way you feel about each other. From an observer I have watched you both grow and mature into an inspiring couple. I love that you share your life with us. I wish you many many more years of love and happiness. Never stop talking dreaming planning and growing and be ready to shift and flex those plans ding those things will take you so far in this life. 2:48 into this video and definitely a different attitude and vibe than the last video that I couldn't watch fully b.c. the energy was negative... My spouse and I are celebrating 19 years together this year 🎉 and EVERYDAY we say I love you at least 2 or more times b.c. we're obsessed with each other and have been seen the first time we saw one another and finally spoke to each other too! We just had our first kid after years of enjoying our time together, and it's been an amazing new adventure! Now Shawn... I've lived a lot of life, seen so much, both amazing and really horrible moments. I've learned and grown so much in ways I never in a million would have guessed I would be who I am now so many years after saying those magical words, " I do." I did, and I still do. I recently found yalls videos and enjoy them buut this one should be required watching for young people and i will tell you why. I am 53 now ive been married/divorced twice and for the last 22 years raising my kids alone and i wish I knew then what I know now and that is to never settle for somebody that doesnt love you as much you love them. Not just saying I love you but by showing your love with your actions. We renewed our vows at 10 years ❤ So glad we did, we got to share it with our kids and new friends who weren't there the first time and it meant so much to us after going through a lot of mountains and valleys together.
