one of my cats used to alert when my blood sugar dropped low while I was sleeping! She had a very specific meow that she only used then, and she'd keep at it until I woke up or someone else noticed and woke me up. She stopped doing it when I got a continuous glucose monitor a few years ago - like she knew she could retire 😂 you can't assign a cat that job the way you can a dog, though - they have to volunteer

Ok, honestly this line is so true: "when you observe the world through social media, you lose your faith in it." That line got my sub. I had the exact same experience myself with social media and media in general, and since I cut myself off from those things, aside from Instagram, I've been a lot better off these days. News media and social media are surprisingly bad for mental health when used consistently.

I can relate to the Diabetes dog, I was on a Caribbean cruise and I saw a man who had a small dog with him. Actually, in Sweden we do have banter as well. How else are we to survive our dark winters? Cheekbones aren't much help there, unless they light up. @@tahiyamaromewell… some things are just inappropriate. Even so, it has to be funnier than it is offensive, that’s the rule. Some things are just mean, or cruel and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Some things come from ignorance, and are perpetuating a harmful misunderstanding. Either way, I think the only reaction that’s realistic in those cases is to just abstain from the source next time. So what, that’s a comedian you maybe don’t like much. Don’t buy tickets to their shows. It’s wild to me that so many people insist on policing the entertainment of others. If you don’t like it, go find something you do like. Why must every female standup get so many comments from boys saying “NOT FUNNY” and so on. Why are people so obsessed with the idea that comedy is objective, I mean that’s just not possible. Very fascistic thinking. There’s that Ricky Gervais bit about the bulletin board with the ad for guitar lessons, and the viewer saying “BUT I DONT WANT GUITAR LESSONS!” Like, what a complete waste of one’s time and energy, consuming entertainment you don’t like in order to complain about it. Now I say this fully and completely believing that tiktok is rotting ppls brains and should be outlawed, so who am I to even judge

That really depends on how much choice the person being influenced has for information and entertainment - in the same way you can't really assume everyone who ends up in a gang would if they were exposed to other life choices. If all you have is what the algorithm defaults to pushing down your throat or you happen to live in a more oppressive regime you need to be reasonably learned or know somebody who is to go looking and actually find other points of view and realise just how stupid x/y/z really is.

My rescue staffy Cross EBTerrier has saved my life twice. She wasn't trained to tell me when my hypos were going to happen, after a year where I had more than one seizure a week (I fall unconscious and then have seizures when my blood sugars drop below 2, not many diabetics have seizures thankfully) she learnt the warning signs. The first time I was home alone laid on the sofa about to slip unconscious she scatched at my chest until it bled whilst licking my face, until I came round long enough to grab the lucozade off the coffee table. The second time my partner was in the garden and whilst I was half unconscious on the sofa she ran outside and barked at him more than she ever had and ran back into the flat then back out and barked the same so my partner knew something was wrong, came inside and gave me hypostop to bringmeround. We now recognise the signals she gives when my sugars drop. We just thought she was being weird before! 🐶🐶👌❤❤

It is a false equivalence. Usually the left just gets "upset", because some of the jokes may be sexist, racist, homophobic, etc, while the right gets upset for anything that is either critical of religion or social justice. If being "upset" over a racist or homophobic joke makes me silly, I'll wear that badge, proudly. Russel is one of the few stand-up comedians that doesn't do that, so not even sure why he has brought that particular subject. I don't ever recall him making a joke at the expenses of a particular social group, other than, politicians, or some specific person (which usually is someone on the right, I might add).

Reading that title... it's sadly true. Yesterday I was waiting at a bus stop and this dude comes over and starts yelling and swearing at me for standing in front of the part of the bus stop bench he wanted to sit on. I moved without saying a word... and he continued to yell and swear at me because of what I'd been doing as if I hadn’t just moved when he wanted me to, even at one point for some reason going "what? You wanna push me onto the road? I bet that's it, isn’t it? You wanna push me onto the road into traffic!" I had not said a thing. I hadn’t interacted at all with this guy. After several minutes, I finally just asked him, "What is your problem with me?" His response... was that I'd been standing in front of where he'd wanted to sit. I then *tried* to point out I'd moved as soon as he wanted, thus I didn't see the problem, but he was being so loud I had to raise my voice to be heard... and he then acted like I was going off on a rage, started filming me and said I'd threatened to push him into the traffic. 🤦‍♀️ I worry what him posting that video will do, because I just know he's got some idiot followers who will take his side. We have given people like that the power... and it's extremely concerning. Hopefully the dumbass took it to the police, they saw how HE was the ass in the video and they put him in his place.

6:50 - Nope, That one could ONLY have happened in the UK! ;D Now, I love when comedians do what you did earlier in this show, and pretty much disarms any joke about an impairment. Your "wonky eye" joke was pretty eye-opening to me. I´ve never cared a lot about it, and I never called anyone on it, but I always feel a little bit uncomfortable once I realise that someone has it, but not out of disgust or anything. It´s just like, I never know which eye to look at!! Because a person with a wonky(lazy) eye will always try to look around, to hide their wonky eye!!! I would much rather want to know which eye is their master eye (IDK if this is a medical term, but we use this in shooting, the master eye is the eye that your brain decides is best suited for close attention to any suitable target...??). If I knew, I might be able to establish some eye contact, but if you don´t tell me, how can I ever know? Also, I never knew that you, Russel, had a lazy eye until this very show. Been watching you for years on taskmaster and talkshows, but it never occured to me. Thanks for bringing these things up! I just made a decision that I will make an easy approach on a coworker to talk to him about his lazy eye. I want to just know how he feels about my look wandering left to right as I´m talking to him, as I never know which eye to focus on. Plus, it makes me a bit shifty, not knowing what he´s looking at right now...

Its incredibly encouraging to many people when the see an on line influencer making soo much money.. Personally I think they have zero morales & most saddest of all is they encourage young kids. Social MEDIA, the drug of the nation for kids.

2:50 nah if I could go back in time and meet my kid self(assuming my parents let my grown self anywhere near), I’d give myself a cheat sheet of the mistakes I’ve made and how to avoid them. I’d also tell my kid self that when he picks his football club, don’t tell anyone in school, leave the Boys Brigade and take up archery instead of golf. I’d also be like “Want to go to the toy shop?” And I’d take something that is worthless these days back with me but is worth a ton in the days of my childhood and sell it so I can buy myself all the toys I want. I’d tell myself which companies are going to do well and when so that my younger self can invest. And finally, I’d tell my kid self “When you turn 18 you’ll be able to vote….don’t ever miss a vote! No matter your misgivings! Just go vote for the answer you think sounds best! Except in 2016, when you get to that year, Vote Remain”(I didn’t vote in the 2016 referendum and it’s something I regret. I just had a lot of misgivings so a dithered and ended up letting the vote time slip past, literally as soon as my last chance to vote past, I had regrets) so my advice would be about getting myself to not dither on important decisions.

That was brilliant. Personally, between my husband and myself we have a shopping list of health issues, mental and physical, and we joke about it. It's a coping mechanism, and one thing that really gets on our nerves is people who are offended on someone else's behalf when that person either doesn't care or finds it hysterically funny. Loved the term you used, 'The Professionally Upset'. It sounds like a full time job title because it is ALL they do. It justifies their entire existence. They have nothing else and are essentially sad wankers. Humour is a precious gift. Laughter is good for the heart and soul, and we despair as we see it being increasingly eroded by Woke. To us, WOKE IS A JOKE.... just a particularly bad one. Hopefully one day, they will wake up and look at themselves and say, 'God, what was I thinking? I've been such a tit.' Woke is the fun police.

I have a (very) lazy eye. I love your jokes about it. I worked with another with the same, and we continually made and received jokes and comments about it. It actually "normalised" it.

Honestly nothing feels more right than to say: "I'm surrounded by idiots..." at this point. Across all ages even. Common sense even becoming rare sense. Or what I like to know as: Something humanity doesn't seem to comprehend! From what I've seen and experienced anyway. Just seems all that's heard is how someone was stupid enough to think one thing that very clearly remains exceedingly dangerous.
