"We've got a lot on our plate" - Dexcom's CEO talks G7 and beyond

We've got new information about Dexcom’s G7 launch and much more. CEO Kevin Sayer says it’ll be available in the US before the end of March. Sayer joins us from the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco. He talks about Dexcom’s pump partners, when the FDA will let them put in features they already have in Europe but not here, and answers a lot of your questions.

I love Dexcom and am anxious for the G7 to be available and to integrate with my Tslim pump. I agree with Stacy that seeing non-diabetics use a CGM that I have to pay my deductible to get and they use it without really needing it rubs me the wrong way. I am thankful that we have the technology we do today. I have had Type 1 diabetes over 30 years and between the Dexcom and my Tandem pump I feel like I have better control or am able to take care of things quicker and easier. Thank you, Stacy for doing this interview and for all of the information you share on your channel.

i need tok ow how to read previous levels because sometimes i forget to write them down for my doctor! especially when i’m sick or have very low or very high readings! i just can’t figure it out! haha!

Thank you for this interview. I think the donation suggestion was a great idea. My mom succumbed to Type 1 diabetes complications. Her dad a Type 1 diabetic died from diabetes complications, and her mom a Type 2 diabetic died from Alzheimer's. I have autoimmune issues (rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid, and allergies) and have been told by doctors that I have a strong genetic history for diabetes. Even though my health insurance will cover testing strips, my doctors have not been receptive to writing me a prescription for get them and they are expensive. I wouldn't dare to ask my doctor for a CGM but it would be nice to have one, especially to monitor my blood sugars during my monthly infusions for my RA.

i understand about other health problems such as epilepsy, high blood pressure high cholesterol diabetic retinopathy and ketoacidosis!, of which i was in a coma and almost died, because a diabetes , anda new med. i found out that ihe med can cause keto! i also have nueropathy in my stomach!insulin and oral meds don’t work when i’m sick or stressed out! i’m 66 now so the diabetes and high blood pressure are worse now.but i tryto be strong and do every i can to survive. happy to be alive espially since i had keto😊

How are non-diabetics getting a prescription for Dexcom's? I'd never heard of non-diabetics using it until Stacey's question today on here! WHOA - how is that even possible never mind plausible?!

I don't think that Stacy was necessarily referring to Dexcom CGMs but the Freestyle Libre. There was a "nutrition" company that was advertising on Facebook and their big hook was you could sign up for a subscription for this company, have an interview with a doctor and get a script for a monitor which could show you how your body would react to different foods. Any doctors that they had writing scripts for those CGMs were writing "off label" prescriptions, which is not illegal, but when there are intermittent shortages of CGMs for diabetics who need them, and many diabetics who can't afford CGMs because of a lack of insurance, or their insurance is not covering these things, it seems to be an immoral thing to do. What's worse is the "off label" prescriptions for semigutide drugs(like Ozempic, Trulicity, etc) that are being prescribed just for weight loss. I was effected by this trend when the mail-order pharmacy that my insurance company insists that I use could not fill my prescription for Trulicity when I needed it because there were so many people that were not diabetic using the drug.

i didn’t know about that! also i beleive that not just heavy people get it. i know some people that never were heavy but are skinny! i think that is a myth.
