My heart sank. Even tho the off script banter remains....it felt slightly more performative. Part of the charm was the chilled vibe in the studio- that's gone now. Its a natural phenomenon, we behave slightly different when there's an audience.

It was an exciting time, where it felt like you were witnessing people catching lightning in a bottle. Must see TV for me. Now it's just more of the same, and will slowly devolve back to its original format. Viewers will start slipping away as it settles into conformity, and the rest will become a pleasant memory for all of us who were here to witness it.

MUCH prefer NO studio audiences. Loved the intimacy and actually felt more genuine energy when it was the crew and band etc. The small crew with the constant fake laughter really takes away from the content. And Chloe Kardashian ... yet more forced, fake lack-of-content. I truly loved hearing the banter and jokes and the gentle patter of all the creatives just being vulnerable and genuine together. Everytime the audience force-clapped and laughed every five seconds actually makes things less funny and harder to hear and process. I didn’t realize how much I dislike fake constant laughing and ‘clap signs’ until they weren’t there any longer. Applies to Colbert and Fallon et al. Also, even though these small audiences are vaccinated and tested; the image it presents is that we are no longer in a pandemic. When we are up 24 percent in deaths per day the last 14 days. 2000 plus deaths of COVID per day in US RIGHT NOW. So last thing that feels genuine and vulnerable and real is a tiny group of tested; vaccinated chosen audience members laughing & clapping when someone holds up a sign. I so so miss the calm, quiet, smart show that was both the funniest and most thoughtful it had ever been.

I think the increased Crew presence in the room after summer was a nice warmup for what would evolve to a full audience. As long as they keep the off-script crew banter & roasts, I think the charm of this show can definitely persist. Just with slightly fuller chuckles/reactions than the "crowd" of the last few weeks. The crew+James is what has made this show's monologues so great, and neither factor has gone away from what I can tell!

I knew they were grooming us for an audience when they came back from summer break and had changed the set around and filled the theater with more crew members, but I still needed more notice before this happened. It hasn't felt the same without the tight knit cast of characters. I used to watch the show before the pandemic, but now after experiencing the heights of the show in this past year, I really don't think I can go back.

🥺 literally felt my heart sink when I read that title. I appreciate that they're still keeping in the crew banter, but it does feel like we lost the magic intimacy of it. I would have loved if you kept the monologue without an audience, then bring in the audience for when the guests come on or you play games etc. I honestly looked forward to this show every morning, and it's just missing that magic it had. Maybe we can have a segment, on just KZbin even, of only the crew before the monologue starts? I know we'd all show up to watch that. Regardless, thank you for giving us a year and a half of absolutely wonderful entertainment. You made us all feel like we weren't so isolated and alone during all of this. Thank you so much for such a wonderful gem of a show you gave us over this time💕 At least we can go back and rewatch the old ones. Really hope to see crew-only segments if at all possible.

It's good. The reason the show was better without the audience was never really about whether it was there or not. The point was for all the creators to be relaxed and to communicate with James, and that remained here in the first place today, so if a few happy people can see how their favorite show is created, the better for them. And James can at least see, other way than in numbers, that his work really makes sense and that it brings joy to people.

I put off watching this episode for an entire week because I saw the title and was so incredibly sad 😓😞 Very glad to see that the crew interaction stuck around!! This show was wonderful without an audience.

Coming back to this almost a week later and I’m so stoked almost all these comments are anti-audience. Some to the point of unsubbing😱 they’ve totally ruined it with bringing back the audience. I wish someone on the production/social media team would mention how much resistance there is online to this. Doubt it’ll change but, I want James to know how devoted his YT following was. How this show helped us all through the pandemic and how much it felt like family.
