Jocelyn I think you're doin fine with everything don't worry about what others think you should do I'm enjoying watching the videos I just wanted to share a thought I would roll up that pretty rug for now til the room is ready to decorate people will be walkin on it including you as you hang stuff and especially wall paper I would only roll it out when you're ready to decorate so it doesn't get dirty just a thought also you may want to include child friendly dishes also and I wouldn't put much into pots and pans people may not take care with them just a suggested keep up the good work we are learning with you.

I think restaurant wear is the best choice , the one thing people will remember about this Airbnb is we stayed at the “crazy lamp lady’s” place, it’s supposed to be a representation of you and that’s exactly what you need to make it , what ever you love! I think that’s what is so cool about you decorating it and doing the work it’s been fun watching and your a breath of fresh air to watch! And funny! 😂

That thin foam under the outlet cover is insulation to block drafts. It's a good idea to use them under switch and outlet covers that are on walls that have the outside on the other side... vs interior walls, especially. But best to use under all covers.

Before my husband past we bought a fixer upper, shortly after we moved in he had a stroke so wasn’t able to do the work, so I started doing it myself I removed a built in devider cabinet to open up the kitchen and a few other minor things before I had to concentrate on taking care of him I’m 76 now and still doing things as I can I already learned enough electrical to change out all the electric outlets and switches, I also replaced the light in my laundry room, patio and front porch I am in the middle of sanding my bathroom to paint it and replace the floor tiles I’m also going to replace the outdoor carpet on my porch. Not hire someone but do it myself So I appreciate the work you are doing bravo 💜

You are such an inspiration to the rest of your followers and we thank you. There is nothing wrong with what you are going through and how you are feeling right now. You are an extremely successful person who has a rich personal life. You do you! It has worked for you up until now. While your life is out there for us to see, your life is yours. I am old, so my life experience has taught me a lot. Just know, you are on the right track and you have a beautiful family, from your parents, to your children and Andrew. I stayed at an Airbnb in Lewisville, Idaho. It was so well stocked we felt like we were home. Variety of mixing and serving bowls, small appliances, cups, mugs, pots, pans. Everyone's favorite thing was the coffee, tea, hot cocoa station. Big variety of flavors. Sweeteners, syrups, spiced apple cider, etc. She even had the disposable cups for hot drinks. One of the bottom drawers had fun play dishes for the kids to get into. The only thing it needed was a child proof lock on the cupboard under the sink. We improvised with a pony tail holder. Love the couch color! Excited to follow this new adventure!

Anyone who does any kind of home improvements needs to remember that they had a FIRST project and I would be willing to bet that they didn’t stay as cool and easygoing and have the attitude of figuring it out as they went. You are having fun with it and that is amazing. That is how it should be. You told us all that this was the “something different “ you were needing. Enjoy your journey . And to everyone watching, just be happy for her and enjoy watching her get to the “end goal “ , no matter how she does it. Go Jocelyn Go !!😃

@I am a 56 now and have been doing home improvements for over 30 years now and I’m not bragging but just want you to understand how far I’ve come. I can pretty much do anything cosmetic and some minor construction and electrical work . I just finished a 1 year long whole house interior renovation of our “rest of our lives home” new flooring , trim , molding, all new light fixtures, and of course painting and wallpapering. I even built our farm style dining table. I don’t do plumbing other than changing fixtures. But….. my first makeover was HORRIBLE!!! I did not have KZbin University to help me back then😂🤣 I wallpapered my bedroom by following the instructions on the slip of paper that came in the wallpaper roll. 😂I had to go to the hardware store 3 times to get the “”tools” for the job. It literally took me all day to do one wall, and I was only doing bottom half of wall. The wallpaper paste smelled so bad I slept in the liv room. Next morning I walked into bedroom and it was all falling off and was now stuck to my carpet🤣😂fast forward 1 week. I had a half wall of paper on one wall that due to frustration I had STAPLED to the wall no carpet because it was ruined and I tore it out. So my slightly out of date but nice bedroom now looked kind of like a prison cell a stunk like a glue factory. 🤣😂You are miles ahead of where I started and I can’t wait to see what all you do. You definitely have more patience and a better attitude than I did too. 😁 use KZbin and not staples and you will be fine😂🤣

Now 30 years later and I’m giving advice to my children now they are doing their houses up ! You do you Jocelyn. Harvey Houses (stopovers with restaurants and rooms for passengers) along the RRs were started late 1800s. Probably had restaurant ware. I always want to do things myself also. Its such fun and you learn so much! Bought my current house about 12 years ago, closest friend couldn't believe I was buying it because it was in such bad shape and I was already seeing what it was going to look like. To this day she still can't believe I could see it and she can't believe I did it myself! It's a mess now because it's full of things to sell but hopefully I will outlive the mess. Just some refinishing tips. After you sanded the wood and then wiped it off with a wet cloth you will have raised the grain in the wood. Which is totally ok, but now go back over it with the fine grit sand paper again and then wipe it with a dry cloth or a tac cloth. You will have a nicer smoother finish in the end. Your stain/paint job will be extra smooth.Good job you are doing and I am excited for you! DIY is so much work but so much fun and so satisfying in the end ❤

I completely agree with you regarding soft goods and unknown cleanliness. I’m a nurse of 34 years and couldn’t imagine offering a sofa, pillows or linens to a guest in my rental that was thrifted. There’s bedbugs, fungi, mites, sweat, blood and other bodily fluids to consider when running a rental or in your own home. Think! At least at a hotel you would expect a clean bathroom and bed with cleanly laundered sheets and towels. This should apply to an Airbnb.

I’m loving it. My son bought his first home last year and we thrifted/estate sales a lot of his appliances, decor. We painted and made it a home.

I’m impressed with your enthusiasm in this new venture! What a great time for you! Take it at your own pace, I’m sure you’ll find just what you want. I’m happy you’re trying something new. Your taste is really unique, and I know that this B&B will be “THE” place to stay while you’re in Carlisle, Pa! Best wishes for a successful venture!

I know I am Type A also OCDC, your shopping at Lowe's drives me nuts no list, different color walls in each room the list could go on but, it's not my business so you do you. You are so right the end goal is the same no matter how you get there and you do a fantastic job of getting it done!

You go Jocelyn, you are doing a great job! I also like doing the same things like fixing things or painting in my house. It's challenging. And I love it. Keep doing what you're doing!

I vote for a pink color that matches the flowers in the rug for the hall table. I don’t care for how it turned out after distressing it and think it would look better with a new color of paint. You may need to use some Kils to block out the black and make the pink pop.

You will Enjoy the Airb&b set up . I’ve got one 2 yrs now and I added a little collectible touch to mine .. Reached Super Host 2 yr in .. Keep it Simple ,clean , Safe .. advise use little room for a pull out couch coffee table small TV (the getaway room ) Don’t use basement first yr out .. 3bed rent for 4 if they want 5 you can do .. Think Neighborhood wants it Quiet as possible Tip get a craft table for the Sun room Good Luck

The only part of the last video that stressed me out a bit was painting over in covered floors! 😂 I figured there was probably already paint splatters if you were doing that… do you plan to sand or refinish them? Or just put a rug over them? They look so pretty in the video! Also, I choose pink! A nice Rosie one to match the flowers in the rug.

You’re doing an amazing job!!! Doing it yourself encourages you to learn new things, and be proud of yourself for accomplishing a new skill. ❤❤

You asked everyone for their opinion and then you seem angry that people were giving the opinions you asked for. These are the people you are trying to recruit to stay at your Air bnb, but if they arent sucking up to you, your attitude comes shining thru. I mean you wouldnt want everyone to think that you are just using your viewers to buy your overpriced items or stay in your Air bnb in the middle of no mans land would you? Sounds like your personality type is using people, greed and narcissism! These are older people you are speaking to. People who look at you as someone they care about because maybe they are lonely, or maybe they grew attached to you from watching you over the years. The way you called them out is a disgrace and hopefully it opens their eyes to the fact that you are using them to feed your bank account. You could care less about any of them. Its interesting to see the real side of people when things dont go their way. Ive been subscribed for years, But after listening to you complain the whole video about, its your money, youll do what you want, calling people aggressive and basically taking a fit like a child, im unsubscribing. WORD OF ADVICE: DONT ASK FOR OPINIONS WHEN YOU CANT HANDLE SOMEONE DISAGREEING WITH YOU!

Aggressive Type A no doubt. Not only are you now angry with Jocelyn but with her other commenters too? Now you are so annoyed with her graphic that your response is to demean and yell at everyone who didn’t agree with you. Think about it. You are the one with a problem. You took it personally. It’s okay….the sun will come up tomorrow and you can move forward or continue to be angry and aggressive. Your choice.

I fee like this is a bit of an over-reaction. There was no calling anyone out. It was just a fun observation that some in the comments were Type As and some were Type Bs. I live with a Type A. Andrew is a Type A and I love to tease him all the time. Likewise, he teases me about being Type B-being disorganized, chaotic, messy, and constantly without any real direction. I’m realizing that some people are offended by being categorized into a type-which I didn’t see anything wrong with.

First, your energy amazes me. I don't know how you do it, but I enjoy watching all you do. Second, thank you for taking us on this wonderful journey. I love to decorate, and watching you is inspiring. I noticed the excitement you once had for shopping and selling was fading. This project has brought it back, and it's great to see. Be you Jocelyn. And be happy.

I love the air bnb videos, very relaxing and enjoyable. People need to chill for sure. Way too many people rushing and flying through life and missing the fun journey. So sad. It's not the final destination it's the journey ❤ ❤❤❤

Jocelyn your doing a fantastic job! It's a learning experience. Oopses coming with learning, shame on them with are judging, they at one point were in the same place you are. GIRL YOU GOT THIS!

Good for you. I started all over at 50 alone and had to learn how to maintain a house. It is a very empowering feeling when you learn and do something on your own. Who cares if it is not perfect. It just adds character:)
