In general, how are CDs doing in Japan. They're still doing pretty good in Europe but they've nearly flatlined in the US. I like the convenience of cds. And I still think they're my go-to for really easy access. I've got really bad eyesight. And I love records, but don't have the patience and the visual acuity to enjoy them like I used to. Hope everything goes all right for you there. Looks like you're making the most of it and bringing us folks of really nice look at the Japanese music market. Thank you, michael.

CD sales are very robust in Japan. I see many people only buying CDs when I'm in the large chains. Cassettes are making a comeback in Japan as well. BTW, the owner of this store in the video is publisher of CDs and 7" singles exclusively. He specializes in getting older Japanese singers to cover western pop and soul songs. His label is called Old Days. His spoken English is quite good and I might do a 1:1 interview with him if he is amenable.

Such a lovely little shop. Interesting collection too. Sometime it’s those tinny little shops where you find the best titles and pressings.

There have been moments in Japan where I've pulled a used record out of a bin and marveled at how it possibly made it here. Usually they're 50 years old. The last one was the Soundtrack LP to "Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song". I pulled that at ORAB in Okayama . That's one to beat....

@@ricefieldrecords I know. I have purchased Don Cherry - Eternal Rhythm with green OBI OG from 1980. When I saw it I could have swear that it was a new reissue. It looked that crisp and flawless. It’s just different ballgame when it comes to pride and care they treat records with in Japan.

I'm too busy enjoying the backgroud music, sorry Michael! Also, as you are well aware of, looking at album covers does nothing for me. I need to hear the music. I do admire your handing of them however! Smooth moves! People into ASMR would ne in heaven right now 😂😂😂 It will be easier on the way down those lovely stairs, too. I'm impressed by the cleanliness of the Japanese. I never allow shoes in my home!

I'll do more stories and editorial next. The purpose of this one was to show the upgrade in camerawork and the zoom and focus control. All while the viewer sees both of my hands. The stairs can be steep and slippery and sometimes very shallow due to building design given small spaces. As people age, they tend to climb stairs less and less and live on 1F.

Bloody hell you found a 12” copy of ‘Flourences’ for I think £7.50!!, I showed that last video. That’s a £40.00 record minimum & impossible to find
@ricefieldrecords7 ай бұрын
But it will take £25 to get the record to you and then there's VAT. You'd have to visit Japan and go record shopping. Good news is you get 10% sales tax returned back to you before your flight home and the GBP is historically high against the Japanese Yen.....
