I suspect the striped aluminum panels may be the same corrugated material widely available at the time and used for aircraft such as the _Spirit_ _of_ _St_ _Louis_ (Ryan M-2), Ford Trimotor, Stout Skycar, Hamilton, etc. (took them a while to figure out that corrugated surfaces were not especially aerodynamic). Interesting how it was shaped into those wavy bumps. I don't know that I would live in the house, unless it were highly insulated, in the Palm Springs area but cannot deny it is beautiful.

@@kevind4850 Interesting theory and that would make sense rather than creating something from scratch. Also leaning into the “cutting edge” tech of aviation at the time would fit the future-forward theme. 👍 In photos of the house before it came to PS it has some waves/ripples but not as pronounced as today so I wonder if that’s simply from taking it apart and reassembling it, or maybe even expansion from being in a much hotter environment. It does get blistering hot to the touch!

@@TracesofHollywood Thermal warping is definitely a possibility. Doing complex bends in corrugated sheets isn't all that simple and would leave traces of being worked (some slight crushing of the corrugations). I'd think that if the bulges are more prominent on the south and west-facing sides, you probably have the answer. Regardless, I like the look much more than I would have were the panels completely flat.
