Hills....a Chicagoan's kryptonite 😂. And Kalkidan dressing up as Jackson in the end was priceless! From what I found according to Dinerville, Johnny's Diner used to be known as Pip's Diner! Shoutout to Johnny's Diner for straight up having a Diners of Pennsylvania book in hand for others to read up on the history! Tarentum was founded by Judge Henry Marie Brackenridge in 1829 as the Pennsylvania Canal was being completed between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Brackenridge, who owned land between what's now Tarentum and Natrona, surveyed an area between Ross and Lock Streets and called the town Tarentum after an ancient Greek city-state in Italy (now Taranto in Apulia). For diners I've been to, Long Island and New Jersey have some pretty cool diners! In Northport, there's one inside a dining railroad car that originally came from ✨Worcester, Massachusetts✨ in 1924 called the Northport Shipwreck Diner! The Dumont Crystal Diner in Dumont, NJ has been around since 1928! The Cutchogue Diner on Long Island's North Fork is a 1941 Kullman diner! Jersey City has the White Mana Diner which was first built for the 1939 NY World's Fair at Flushing Meadows as the "diner of the future" selling fast food-style hamburgers by Paramount Dining Car Company of Oakland, New Jersey! There's another White Manna in Hackensack, but the one in JC is spelt Mana with one n because of an error when the sign was serviced! Jersey City also has the Miss America Diner from 1942 (built by Jerry O'Mahony Diner Company of Elizabeth, NJ) right by West Side Ave HBLR and New Jersey City University

"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind..." wanting to start again? No way it's my favorite song! That's something The Interview got right about me! And playing Splashing Around by the Green Orbs to avoid getting a copyright thing for September was chef's kiss 🤣Also, "Court, huh? Isn't that where they make you pay jaywalking fines?" Miles be like *"Why do I hear boss music?"* 💀 Gotta give respect to Ben and Stormy for doing this with you considering they trekked all over for diners, let alone climbing up Mount Washington, while running on zero hours of sleep!

Regarding the Chicago St. Patrick's Day tradition, Stormy is right in that they use a vegetable-based powder (the dye formula remains a secret), dubbed Leprechaun Dust, and its low concentration and quick absorption make it non-toxic. The Illinois EPA and a plumbers' union state that it's completely safe, the dye is innocuous and has no harmful effects on the wildlife that inhabits the Chicago River (including several species of fish) or the city’s drinking water, so all it does is just turn it green temporarily. The chemical dye used to turn the river green is not actually green itself but more of an orange color which turns green when it reacts with water! The first time the Chicago River took on a green hue was completely accidental. In 1961, Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local 130 poured a special, oil-based fluorescein dye into the river as a means of detecting leaks and other abnormalities such as illegal chemical pollution. By chance, Plumbers Local 130 leader Stephen Bailey noticed that one of the worker’s overalls were stained green from the dye, and thus sparked the inspiration for the tradition starting in 1962 when they poured 100 pounds of it for the holiday! After it was realized the dye used was very harmful to the river, Chicago plumbers agreed to stop using fluorescein in favor of the vegetable-based formula in 1966.

What an enjoyable video, guys! I loved watching your journey around some Pittsburgh diners, and it reminded me so much of when I lived there. There's nothing like walking through the blistery snowy morning and then rewarding yourself with a stack of hot cakes and bottomless cups of coffee. The Dor-Stop in Dormont was my absolute favorite breakfast (although, not a diner, just a cozy little restaurant).

Anyone know which diner they filmed in for the movie Warrior, where Tom Hardy’s character is eating with his dad (played by Nick Nolte) in the movie? I’m sure it was one of these diners, possibly the first one. Edit: it was filmed at Don’s Diner which is not in this video.
