Lucky you, i have wanted to visit south and central America but never got to although I must admit I`d prefer my time there in the summer I'm not a winter person and staying warm indoors while traveling is not the goal for me. That's awesome, how exciting! We booked our stay with Hotel Lago Grey which is all-inclusive, so luckily they handled everything for us including the airport transfers, hikes and excursions, etc. We genuinely were super happy with them and would recommend it if you have the budget (it is pricey but we thought it was worth it since it really includes everything). @@rr0184 Sorry I didn't see your reply sooner! But yes, that's right! The only extra cost to keep in mind was tips for the guides and hotel staff, at your discretion. We did tip since we were very happy with the service we received but tipping in Chile is much more reasonable than in the US haha (about $10 USD equivalent per person, per day). I hope this helps!

did you just go to points interest by yourself or a tour is needed?

Hi, thanks for watching! We had a tour guide through our all-inclusive hotel that took us to the main points of interest. You can visit on your own, but it would be easier to do so in spring or summer. We didn't feel comfortable navigating through the park on our own in the winter. I hope this helps.

Is it necessary to hire a guide for the hike?

Hi, great question! A guide is not necessary for the hikes in Torres del Paine, although they are recommended during the winter season for the more difficult trails. But the trails are well marked and many people do them without a guide, especially in the warmer months. Thanks for watching!

It's actually not Spanish. While I was hiking down there my guide told me it's a word from the indigenous Tehuelche and it is pronounced "Pai-Neh"
