Lots of Korean establishments there, even more back in day before Sam Sung Plaza became The Park on Keeamoku. Back then, Keeaumoku was dubbed "Koreamoku" (community was concentrated there.) I lived near here a decade ago. I enter Ala Moana via Makaloa, Atkinson or Keeaumoku, depending on where I'm walking from.

I lived on the western edge of Kalihi kai in the 1940's and near the mouth of Kalihi Stream in the 1930's. It was all countryside back them. My home was always next to a railroad track.

You two are an awesome pair. I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Informative and entertaining. 👍🏼 As a kid coming in with mom in the 60s, early 70s, I think we came down Keeamoku and went out on Piikoi. Now I’m riding in with my daughter who lives on Kinau so she does Ward to Kapiolani. And/or my son, in from Mililani. 👍🏼🚙 Being a visitor has some advantages. Haven’t rented a car since their college days (they’re in their mid forties). 😜🌴❤️ I look forward to your next video. 🤗🌺

lol yes born and raised townie, and I call it Alas and Waiks...middle of 'town' for me would be from Chinatown to Waikiki...IMO...I always enter Alas from Keeamoku/Kona street side, go to Lupicia teas, get samples at Big Island candies, get some lunch at Makai market, check out the center stage entertainment, go up the escalator, go past the Koi fish and go to Macy's to shop. After shopping, go to The Lanai for some Brug, some boba, walk all the way down to Longs and then go home. Love all these town kine videos, I'm homesick!

Great job! For all the potential college students and parents a nice UNIVERSITY segment going from ala moana to kapahulu(ono haw food), up to kaimuki, over to punahou and in to manoa would be PERFECT. Centering on UH Manoa and Chaminade University it would be informative and good buisness for anyone looking to invest or considering attending college here. I first lived across punahou HS then moved to Moilili, just behind pucks ally, as a student from Guam 40 years ago. I am now interested in investing in a place for my child who will be attending college soon. We are talking Rich Miano's mom's mama mia's pizza, pool tables upstairs and all the flower shop along king street Pucks Ally. Im sure things have changed there alot. Saina ma'ase' & Mahalo

I 'm not in the market for housing, but I just love to watch your videos of the different neighborhoods. Town is getting more & more crowded every day, it doesn't matter when, there is always traffic. All you see nowadays are construction cranes building more & more condos, traffic will just get worse and worse(rail should have been built in town first). Local people can't afford buying the new condos in town, so why do they keep building so many?. The homeless situation(& other criminal activity) in town is so bad now, that you don't feel safe walking around town even during the daytime by yourself(especially if you are Kupuna).

@Moving Hawaii is it better to live by Costco or Ala Moana Center?
@limachen

There’s been a 400 foot height limit in Honolulu for over 50 years. The problem is that this means we have scores of buildings that are all the same maximum height and the skyline looks monotonous. We need a few taller structures for visual reasons.
