I used to work with a interpreter for the marines while they were in Afghanistan. He was brought here with his family for obvious reason. He hated the united states, his complaint was in the us people do nothing but work and pay bills no community just bills and work. I just laughed when he said that. Yep so true.

My Fiance' is coming to rural Northern Mi. We are both older (already have grown children) but we have absolutely no shortage of things to do here. I have 40 acres mostly forest with much wild game and trails to groom. Withing 1 hour in three directions I have children with their own children who also (even though they haven't met her yet) love and cherish her. Camping, fishing, exploring, making gardens, sight seeing, travelling, having family get togethers.....my God we have so much to enjoy together and with the family. She has been a overseas domestic worker for 16 years to put her son through college and he just graduated. Like me, she only wants us to be together and is a bit of a home body like me. Life is what you make of it. If you guys are bored there I suspect it will be not much different wherever you go. I see a lot of potential there but if it's too dry to grow things and for raising animals you could sell that and move to a more productive State/area. There are just so many opportunities and benefits to living in rural America. There are many reasons America is still (by a wide margin), the Country that gets the most immigrants from around the world. And those immigrants typically do very well. A happy engaging couple will be happy having eachother regardless of where in the world they are. Quite often unhappy couples will be so regardless of where they go. I wish you all the best and hope you don't run through your money and resources trying to make it work in P.I. It can be hard to get back on your feet and back to America if you make too many mis-steps. Good luck to both of you.

Hello guys, I sent you an email right before you were leaving for the states and asked if you would please do a video on the process of packing and shipping to the Philippines in a balikbayan box, like is there any tricks to getting them to the Philippines in one piece without everything broken inside and what do the forms look like that you need to send with or on the boxes. I trust the info you give and would like to see the process done by someone responsible like yourselves. Hope things go smoothly in Texas for you, sounds like you wish you were back "home" already.

Pinay here Responding from NY: We usually pack these boxes with anything that won’t break, put things to full capacity as weight is never a problem. I remember putting lots of canned goods in them. Use a lot of masking tape and make sure you have TO and FROM information inside and outside. Big black markers help. They will arrive, sometimes in 2-3 months’s time (my own experience) depending which city or countryside they are going.

Lost trees from a hard winter? How hard could it be? I think the area is way to rural. I Filipino needs social life like a fish needs water. We live in an area that's both rural and has nearby cities and plenty of Filipino/American couples to socialize with all the time. Its a safer part of the country also and its cold and not hot. The cost of living isn't crazy but not cheap either. However, the Philippines is fun also and we'll go there soon also.

Trying to clean my garage. I grew up on Maui in Hawaii and left in 2013. I sold things from my parents and my lifetime and downsized to 14 boxes I shipped to Oregon. Then left some behind and moved to Virginia with what fit in my truck. A few years later and I'm overloaded with all sorts of stuff that I don't need. @@TexasFilipino “raw” is a cute way of romanticizing a country that is a filthy, overcrowded, dump. With a government that is corrupt, incompetent, and disorganized. Filled with racist, xenophobic people that foster a society of graft, dishonesty, discrimination. If you want to know how sheety that place is, wait until you have an emergency. The moment you need an actual doctor or a competent and honest cop is the day you realize that place is far behind the rest of Asia. Texas in general is a beautiful place, especially the other states beside it, like Arkansas. I love the vastness of the land there, the simplicity of the soroundings, this majestic state always excites me, everytime I go there, the best steaks ever for sure! I know the guys who are leaving california always considering moving there in Texas, if not top 3 states or atleast top 5 states on their list. I’m a Trucker, and everytime I go down there in Austin area, to drop and pick up my load. Man, as I stepped out of my truck for only just few minutes. I always wanted to run back inside my Truck. Lol The summer there is no joke, especially to a person who never experience a heat like that. But, yeah my homeland Philippines would be the best choice if you want to have a much more happy life. I hope other people from America discover the Philippines, the type of life we can offer there. If you have the amount of money the price of any property you have in the states and invest it there. Philippines is a great place to live and raise children , if you are young and with children you better be prepared on how you are going to make your livelihood in the Phil because its not like here in U States for as long as you are not choosy you can always get a job and survive, and if you fall into a hardtime there is the US Govt to help ,not in the Phil. Think twice or maybe more than twice before deciding to move there. For retirees its ok because they have Soc Security coming every month. Good luck to the move.

I live in Virginia Beach, which has lots of Filipino restaurants, stores, churches, etc. The weather is also not as hot as the Philippines or Texas. Finally, as a retired military, I'm better off near a US military base for medical benefits, so I would not move to the Philippines unless the K1 Visa was denied. we leased out the land , it is not our responsibility anymore. The man leasing it may not want it mowed. We just kept the area around one pond for ourselves and leased the other 150 acres out.

My sister called me crazy for wanting to move to the Philippines. After living here for two years now, I could not be happier. My sister live in Los Angeles area, and I think 💭🤔 she is the crazy one. She calls the Philippines an underdeveloped third world 🌎🌍 country. But what us america becoming? We here may have our challenges, but we can only go up! While following current events, America can only go down! Every morning 🌅 I sit in my patio and say: "Thank God I got out when I did." Lord love the Philippines 😁🤪

In the process of moving to Texas very soon, my sister has been down there for years. My mother for about 10 years I have a Filipino fiancé she still in the Philippines but house prices have gone crazy in Texas and Florida. Obviously you know why everybody’s fleeing blue states. I just need to find a piece of property and take it from there. You know the routine.

I would love to buy an acre or so from you if you are going to sell any of your land. I need something for my short stays in the US for work. I need unrestricted land so I can make my own personal RV spot to stay. No house, just water power and septic. I'll be going thru there next Saturday (9th of Sept) on my way to the Houston VA for a minor operation. It would be great to actually meet y'all. And I'll be in your brgy. a bit beginning of next year. I have a trike that JRG Custom Sidecars is getting ready for me. It would be great to see y'all while I'm there as well.

I am sure that is how most filipinas think but decide to keep quiet because they want to support their families.. OFWs also.. Its horrible in the west, especially for people with the values that filipinos have (like me, who is no filipino)..
