I think you missed a good playmaker in the mid the most , Philips is not it, the wings were young and Kane is a finisher. Graelish would've made a big difference. As we had our fair share of embarassing defeats and poor performance over the past few decades, I can relate to your disappointment. I would like to say "thank you for the win" to the English fans; they DID put fire into the Hungarian team when they disrespected the anthem and the game... But... What surprised me was the disrespect shown to their OWN team. When the Hungarian team is beaten to pulp (happens time to time) we urge them to fight to the last minute. The English Premier League is an alternate reality where the top clubs have no spending limit, and the best players and coaches from all over the world come to work. This can lift English players’ level, but they aren’t the same when they leave their clubs and report for international duty. Expecting the same level is too much.

Many of the best players in the PL - and certainly the first division before it - were English. In the 60s, 80s and 90s England produced some of the best football in the world. But now the vast majority of footballers in the Premier League are foreign. So - if they only callup from top flight - theres hardly anyone available. And then theres the FA/Southgate/Boothroyd problem of racism in their selections. Would this have been 0-4 without Guehi? Guehi is foreign and just there to make a political statement. Same with Sterling, who is Jamaican, not English. Neither are there because theyre good enough. Or even eligible. Bellingham is utterly useless for England - he and the vast majority of darker-skinned players under Southgate were given callups as a 'virtue signal'. Saka another example for this match. They are not good enough either. Darker-skinned players, like lighter-skinned players, used to be selected because they were Good. Now over half the team is selected on Politics. And Declan Rice chose Ireland over England. Maybe that too helps his selection, being more 'multicultural' (ha) than a purely anglo-saxon 'chav'. Hes also bloody useless in midfield. So I think its because 'English' football is too foreign that England arent back to their 90s level.

At the same time I suppose in the circumstances youre right about Coady. Bellingham though, disagree there, hes an absolute non-event and does nothing for the country. He failed to set up Kane a single time. He, Saka and Guehi, along with Sterling and most of the darker-skinned players under Southgate and Boothroyd, are all Political choices. Either due to race, or because theyre actually foreigners. Theyre not good enough to be selected on an ability basis. This was really exposed in this match. Declan Rice is probably also there because he chose Ireland first, he can tackle ok but thats hardly a reason to select an England midfielder, and he creates practically nothing. England used to be the country of Charlton, Edwards, Hoddle, Robson, Gazza and Scholes. In Scholes era alone, we had Ince, McManaman, Beckham. Now we have... Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice... is it any wonder this sort of thing happens? But 'dont sack Southgate'. They didnt push to sack Hodgson after Brazil either, and look how that turned out. As long as things are accepted, they keep happening. And getting worse. Maybe this time we should support Denmark instead. After what that Jamaican scumbag Sterling did to them (and by reputation, to us) we owe them. And they actually know their starting XI.
