Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s where the movie was trying to lead us. As to why Spider-Man 2099 couldn’t figure it out, I think he probably did but he kept it to himself because in his mind the only thing worse than a Spider-Man in the wrong universe is one that *also* breaks the canon. In his eyes, if Miles ever knows he’s free to break any canon he wants, it’s a recipe for disaster. When you think about it, every Spider-Man we see is the hero, the good guy, but if Miles is truly a blank slate then he could actually turn himself into the villain. Also, as far as we know there are only two universes that have anything to do with multiverse travel: Miles’s & Miguel’s (all the other spider-people are using Miguel’s tech). While Miguel is using advanced government tech from the future with precise control (and Herbie hacked together a B.O.O.T.L.E.G. copy of the same tech), Miles’s universe came across it by chance because of a particle accelerator, and this was before that universe ever deviated from any kind of canon. I guess either the other spider-people managed to stop the experiments before they opened up the singularity or the other universes never tried this in the first place. Since Kingpin’s sole motivation was to get his wife and daughter back because they left him & died after seeing him savagely beat up Spider-Man, it’s safe to say that even from the very beginning Miles’s universe diverges from the others by bringing secrets into the light. This means his universe is different from the others in a different way than they’re different from each other. Miles’s universe’s schtick is multiverse travel and rewriting the rules - look no further than Spot. Not only is he free to break the canon, it’s literally his destiny, and I think if he went along with the canon, that could actually cause the catastrophe 2099 claims to be trying to prevent. Regardless, Miles telling his family (& I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the whole world as well) that he’s Spider-Man isn’t just who he is and how he wants to write his story, it’s what his universe is. One last thing, I was about to day that the whole “breaking a canon event ends your universe” thing was dumb, but then I realized something: that’s what Miguel told us, but is he reliable? We’ve only seen 2 canon event breaks, and sure, both ended in disaster, but I don’t think it’s because a canon event was broken. When Miguel caused a universe to collapse, it was after he broke the canon by replacing a dead copy of himself à la Rick and Morty. When the Spider-Man: India universe began to collapse, it was because Miles broke the canon by saving the police captain and child. All this goes to show that universes are not destroyed by breaking the canon, they’re destroyed by outside influences from other universes tampering with their canon events. It may be even more specific than that, because clearly Spot causing all that wreckage didn’t create a problem & the universe’s canon actually ADAPTED to incorporate Spot. It was only when an alternate Spider-Man (Miles) interfered with the canon event that the universe began to collapse. Heck, if you ask Miguel, he’d say that Gwen broke the canon by telling her dad she was Spider-Woman, after which he left the force. The reason it didn’t count was because she was the one making the calls in her own universe. What I’m getting at is: all the other spider-people getting involved to keep Miles from being in his own universe making his own decisions are actually coming dangerously close to breaking his canon themselves, bringing down his universe. Through Spot and the apparently multiversal nature of his universe, it might actually bring down the entire Spider-verse.

I had that exact same thought when Miguel revealed the news to Miles. I am not a huge Spider-Man fan (or superheroes really) so excuse my lack of knowledge. But I have seen both spider verse films. Wouldn’t Peter’s death in Earth 41 disrupt the canon? Peter probably could’ve lived and destroyed the collider on time. But since Miles accidentally got caught in the fight between Peter and green goblin. Peter had to put a halt to his plans to save miles and connect with Miles. So his sudden death was a disruption in the canon. How come there was no problems there? If that was canon then that means that dimension is safe. Which also means Miles’ story/canon is different. It wouldn’t need to follow the canon of the other Spider-Man. Essentially, he is separated from the spider verse web

I was a bit apprehensive when I first saw the trailer for portraying Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 in an antagonistic way because Miguel is a far cry from a villain and he's also my all-time favourite Spider-Man in the comics but the movie did an amazing job for portraying him not as the villain but more like an opposing force. Also just to clarify, he is not part vampire. That was just a joke they made in the movie becuse he has fangs which can secrete paralyzing venom.

Given that they initially said that Takuya Yamashiro from the Toei Spidey was going to appear, I think it’s safe to say that he’s being saved for Beyond. Which I am excited for. Other than that, how differently would Spectacular Spidey and Peni haved acted towards Miles if they were secretly working with Hobie? I had this funny idea for fanfic depicting an alternate scenario where Spectacular Spidey and Peni become accomplices to Spider-Punk mainly through an encounter with the Spider-Man of the 1994 Animated Series and the Peter, Miles, and Gwen of the 2017 cartoon making Spectacular Spidey and Peni realize that canon events can be averted and that the Spider-Society is letting innocents die for nothing. Especially since TAS! Spidey had saved Captain Stacy of the Spectacular universe which prompted Spectacular Spidey to go after him reluctantly with Peni being sent in to assist him.
