The love triangle is truly painful. Like Wednesday CLEARLY has no interest in these guys, yet they act all betrayed like she was stringing them along for just...existing near them?? Enid and Ajax also feel straight out of the early 2000s with ripe miscommunication and a forced relationship. I think if they were going to have a relationship in this show it should've been Wednesday and Enid, but better yet they should've kept the teenage crush angst out of this show because it just doesn't fit.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!! They pushed the romantic relationships too far, it wasn't natural, and I thought it was totally unnecessary for her to have those romantic partners. I don't know if they thought doing that would make her more "interesting" or whatever the fuck was on their minds, I just know it didn't work. Wednesday is an independent character, she doesn't need anyone and especially....she doesn't need a love, she's powerful on her own and that's how it should be, it's part of who she is.

Don’t forget Wednesday isn’t really mean, when she says things like not good terrible like Ivan she’s basically trying to cover herself. She says at the very start that she sees emotions as weakness. But look how she actually looks after her brother and Eugene. There’s also a hint at that when they said she’s named Wednesday after the poem “Wednesday’s child is full of woe” but Wednesday was born on Friday the 13th and Friday’s child is loving and giving- which is her true nature. She just has a deadpan macabre sense of humour.

okay i've just come up with this based on 15:15, but full headcanon, tyler and xavier actually were dating/hooking up on the dl, but tyler was friends with the other pilgrims, and they peer pressured him into destroying the mural and assaulting tyler. so tyler, because he is the sheriff's son only got a court order to do therapy for this, and obviously him and xavier didn't speak anymore. tyler decided to stop hanging out with the other guys and try to just be out of trouble. xavier meanwhile started dating bianca, and it was going well, until she used her siren song on him, so they broke up. whenever Wednesday brings up tyler he tells her to steer clear. when he has to work at the weathervane, that's the first time they talked in a year. tyler tries to apologize and tell him how he's working on himself but xavier is simply having none of it. and they both get mad when they see Wednesday with the other, but for different reasons. i frankly stan

I honestly agree. Pushing romance tropes onto characters even without the actual romance is really annoying. I will say that we do see Wednesday having a small romance (in the movies) but forcing Wednesday into a romantic relationship, especially when she is not really wanting one (seems more like an Ace Gworl). I can understand if it's part of a plot but if it's unnecessary, there's no need to push it. Evidently, Wednesday want to live her life as an amazing female writer... With much love... Their love stories don't ever end well. Someone normally dies or they don't go into the market at all if it means being called out for being a lesbian.

I was excited to see your reaction to this! I wasn't sure how I felt after the first episode but I kept watching. I generally liked it but more of the mystery aspects with the monster. The high school stuff was like every other high school show and it felt like those aspects weren't really Wednesday or Addams family. I also didn't enjoy how they sort of gave us backstory on the other characters but didn't really explore it. Like by the end I was like hold up that's all I get!! I can't be the only one who although low-key hated the love triangle, understood where it came from? The other movies of the Addams family, on both occasions, featured her liking a boy. So, it's not too farfetched for her to like a boy. Also, in the other movies it seems like they just don't shy away from hard-to-talk things, but never go as far as actual murder etc. So it's not surprising for me to see her shocked about her dad being a murderer, her possibly killing an entire school etc. They're not a family of murder so to say, they're just different if that makes sense

I know this was a year ago but I never commented so basically I’m pretty sure the reason Wednesday and Mortica have a rocky relationship is because, Wednesday is now a teenager, most of the show and movies have had her as a child, most children have a good relationship with their parents but when they become teenagers they start getting mood swings and stuff so I think it’s quite realistic to real life.
