Tbh, Zoro is sort of fan favourite but Luffy is actually more famous than Zoro in the Anime, and actually I don't like the part where they are showing Zoro as stronger than Luffy here, in the Anime Luffy has more brute strength than Zoro actually but can let it slide because Live Action itself is too good🔥 It's just Luffy isn't shining much in Live Action as he should be!!

31:00 Oda (the author) has said he hates those kind of metaphorical endings; he has confirmed the One Piece isnt some "friendship" or "journey" kind of thing but an actual physical treasure.
@SiMeGamer
@SiMeGamer 10 ай бұрын
I don't know if you follow any theories but: POTENTIAL SPOILER!! The One Piece could be many things in one. The leading theory that I've seen and thought of is that once you cross the Grand Line fully and get back to the start where it meets the Red Line, you can blow up the intersection or something and that will connect all 4 seas of the world which would give us one connected ocean (Sanji's All Blue), the entire world will be charted (Nami's dream), the world will be united, thus making it free-er than ever (Luffy loving the freedom that comes from piracy) and all that leading to everyone being ale to get any other treasure. Not to mention that would disrupt the World Government and tons of other stuff. Robin will find the last Poneglyph maybe and understand the entire history of the world before the entire change (pre World Government). Laboon could finally reunite with everyone and stop banging his head on the cliff (the first big hint towards that theory). There are many huge things that could be solved there at the end which would lead to a united world and Gol. D. Roger knew somebody else needed to do it. He figured it out but he couldn't do the thing himself or whatever. I'm not a huge One Piece fan. I've read many volumes of the manga many years ago but I don't keep up at all (I've read up to Dress Rosa arc [volume 70] but nothing else since) and the idea that One Piece is an idea that manifests itself physically using the world itself is fantastic imo and that theory seems to hold best. Considering how good the author is "the friends we made along the way" is definitely not it as you've said. But neither is it just being some treasure in the traditional sense. The treasure is likely physical but carries a lot more with it. The interaction with it is physical, but what it results in is so much grander than that. Of course, this is just a theory. But like many media that have yet to reveal their finales, I find the headcanon extremely compelling.
@Pyxyty
@Pyxyty 10 ай бұрын

@SiMeGamer
@SiMeGamer 10 ай бұрын
@@riddlerosehearts8277yes, and breaking that mountain is what will lead to his reunion with Brook and potentially his original family. One Piece, in the version I've outlined is many things in one all stemming from a physical interaction. The consequences of that physical "thing" (the oceans being connected) has lot of consequences on non-physical things which for the Straw Hats and the world at large are not all physical.

One Piece is set in its own world and thus isn't beholden to any particular "period" as far as clothing and technology are concerned. While a large part of the aesthetic is "age of sail," there are a LOT of examples of "anachronistic" clothing, so just expect to see examples of "modern" fashion within the show.

The consensus among the majority of fans is that every actor they cast is somehow so naturally like their character it’s weird. The way they have acted in interviews reflects their characters a lot and it’s endlessly entertaining. Iñaki Godoy IS Luffy. The creator of One Piece who is pretty involved with the show (was involved with having a final say in all the casting too) told him he wouldn’t have anyone else play Luffy. 😭 Emily Rudd who plays Nami is a huge anime fan and this was a dream role for her. A perfect choice with good understanding of the character. And Mackenyu as Zoro was perfect too, he’s been an anime fan forever and every time he’s asked about it his answer is “I’m Japanese!” lol Can’t wait until you meet all the big characters. Everyone really smashes their role. It’s a triumph for live action anime adaptations. Finally.

To answer some of the questions you guys had Carlie and Ange; - The story is very close to the manga/anime. Not completely 1:1, but close enough to appreciate that it stayed mostly true to the canon. If I had to give it a number, it would be like 90% anime accurate, maybe even 95%, which is very good. - The characters are also all pretty much 1:1 to their manga/anime counterparts, and the actors across the board did a great job playing their characters. Including side characters/fodder. - The story/setting is not based on a particular human era, it's basically an alternate reality where basically anything goes. If you guys ever watch the anime, it will become very apparent. Here we obviously have "live-action limitations" but they still did a pretty good job with the more "fantastical" scenes. Looking forward to the rest of your reactions!
@Krustenkaese92
@Krustenkaese92 10 ай бұрын
95% is way too high, they did change quite a lot of things. But I think most changes made sense and were well thought out and well executed. A lot of the plot lines are different, Luffy, Sanji, Usopp, Garp and a few others are characterized a bit differently. I'd say the live action show is 70% accurate to the manga.
@reaperfool
@reaperfool 10 ай бұрын
Well, the reason I say 90-95% is because the things that were changed weren't super relevant to the main plot, as in, they don't make a huge impact to the main story Oda is trying to tell. Meanwhile the changes make the story flow better in a live action environment. You are right that *technically* the show is like 30% inaccurate, but I'd argue the majority of that 30% is not important in the grand scheme of the story. @@Krustenkaese92
@mrcx6142
@mrcx6142 10 ай бұрын
That percentage is way too high considering they cut out entire characters which would reoccur and become relevant later on as well as some hype moments. I don't think it's a huge issue, in fact 90% of the changes were probably good in terms of this being a more condensed live action, but really, it's probably like 65-70% accurate to the manga. The overall direction of the story is the same, but there are a lot of changes in the details.

It's more faithful to the manga than to the anime, but it's not a 1:1 retelling. I'd say it basically hits all the main story beats. It covers over 40 episodes of the anime and around 100 chapters of the manga, so it does miss _a lot_ of things. Plus, some arcs are redone to make more sense for the live action plot. But none of the key points are missing and it's formatted in a way that anything that is missing that is needed for future plot has room to be re-covered in future storytelling. Also, some aspects are done in a certain way to foreshadow certain future events/conflict in a way that better suits this medium.

Real world logic does not apply for most things. 😁 And another tip, not every strong character has a *devil fruit. Strength in this world can also be acquired with pure training, so just a heads up if you see strong characters that don't have powers, that's the reason why they're so strong. Happy One Piece watching !

There are many references, easter eggs and cameos for us long time fans. This is a completely new world, it looks more like it was from the past, but they also have modern stuff actually. The Phone Snail is one such thing. They did an amazing job to make this 8 episode live action a success and as someone who's been following it for over 20 years, I couldn't be happier to see new people experience this amazing adventure for the first time in a new format. Hell, even my mom who can't really get into anime and manga, loved this show. We watched the first 2 episodes together and the rest she watched on her own.

You guys are cute and hliarious! As a huge one piece fan I really enjoyed watching you guys react to the live action. Also, really loved the comment about Zoro dragging around Mr 3.5!! Literally was the joke I thought of when I first saw it and hadn't seen anyone say that yet. Thank you guys for the entertainment!!

How could it go wrong ? It's supervised by Oda Eiichiro (the author of the manga) himself. Anyways I'm surprised and glad to see you react to this cause as a big fan of the series, I think it's a pretty good introduction to it for people that are interested and since some stuff are rearranged to fit on 8 episodes for the 1st season it's also a nice rediscovery for people that are long time fans. Have fun watching it !

Thanks for the reaction! Always fun to see newcomers to anime. I'm waaay behind OP myself to the point I really don't remember much of the story (started it twenty years or so ago, but stopped fairly early). I agree seeing it in this format helps reintroduce me to it! Looking forward to your reactions!

As far as accuracy goes, it's accurate enough. It does some things differently, but it's not breaking canon. It just has different presentation and subtly different characterization to suit human actors. It's great.

This is a good start to OP. As an OP fan for 15 yrs, I understand starting it at this point is quite daunting but the live action is quite good, thanks to good casting and Oda-sensei’s guidance. The actor playing Zoro is a famous Japanese actor who has done a number of live action movies like Rurouni Kenshin, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, FMA, and Knights of the Zodiac. His dad was a famous Japanese actor and martial artist so he was trained with karate and other martial arts at a young age. He does most of his stunts but for his best role so far in terms of the action, it’s as Enishi in Rurouni Kenshin. Looking forward to your reaction to the next ep. 🥰

The story arcs for the Live Action match up with the anime, as do the characters involved for the most part, but the actual events themselves are changed drastically between the two versions.

The part where Zoro turns Mr.7 into Mr. 3 and a half was honestly my favorite in ep. 1😂 In all seriousness tho, the show is pretty fcking good, and it is very faithful in the stuff that is supposed to happen, it's just that it follows a different path to get there, it's not a pure 1 to 1 of the anime, so I guess the best way to make you understand is, the journey is different but the destination is the same😊

For the last month since its release, I have rewatched this series 3 times now. English, Japanese (cz of the original voice actors dubbing it) and Spanish (cz of Iñaki and Taz Skylar dubbing it themselves) As well as saw the journey/reactions of all that came in my feed. I am exhausted, but supporting every other CC for their take on this is kind of a duty of the fans.

A big part of what makes One Piece so much fun is deciding to "just go with it" haha So don't try to worry too much about what time period this is or whenever things don't make too much sense. One Piece is in its core an extremely absurdist comedy and the creator has said that if he finds something funny or silly or absurd, he'll put it into his story, and then worry later about it making sense. He'll usually form the world around his jokes after the fact, so they kind of make sense in hindsight, which is why this world is so whacky. I freaking love that writing approach. One Piece in this sense has more in common with something like Spongebob imo.
