To put it into context. Season One of the live action condenses roughly the first 45 episodes of the anime while taking other elements from later episodes (character introductions/revelations) into a tightly streamlined story.
@troikas3353 Жыл бұрын
It is worth noting that because of how the episodes are done, those 45 episodes probably only work out to like 25~ish episodes of actual plot. Especially as you get deeper into an arc, once you take out the opening intro, the starting recap and the end credits there are some episodes of one piece that have like less than 10 minutes of actual story in them and then you have some entire episodes just dedicated to a fight scene.
@flarpo11 Жыл бұрын
I would definitely recommend a first-time viewer watch the live action to see if they're interested in the premise. It takes a good ten episodes to get a decent sense of what the anime is gonna be like, just cause of how slow everything moves in the beginning, so the more streamlined introduction works a lot better for getting someone into the series. They basically just made live action OnePace, and I'm here for it.
@Groovygear Жыл бұрын
@@troikas3353 Not really, what you are referencing is something that becomes a problem later down the line when the anime starts to catch up to the manga. The East Blue Saga basicly only have Intro and Outro and minimal episode replay, so at least 18-20 min of actual content per episode. And the "other" 20 episodes are filled with character moments, so it is not "worth nothing". smh

The snails are a multi-level pun in Japanese - they're called "den den mushi". "Dendenmushi" is an old name for snail. The best thing about the actor for Luffy for me is that the creator of One Piece(which was first a manga, then an anime, and now the live action) said that the actor himself made him laugh and reminded him of the Luffy he created. Oda told Iñaki Godoy(Luffy’s actor) that he could not imagine anyone else playing the role. Inako is genuinely happy and charismatic and positive in his real life as well. He was a perfect fit.

Thr creator of one piece (1999) is Eichoro Oda, he is the one handling every decision starting from scripts, casting, what to change and what to add from the scenes and scripts, he said that adapting 1:1 episode is impossible considering the anime is more than 1000 episodes so he was really on board on some changes of the story as long as they stay true to the source material, good thing is, most of the production staff even the show runner and director are fans of the anime and the manga...so everything they do must always go through Oda and all decision befalls on him...

Man I love much depth Luffy and the crew has. Each flashback helped understand each of these characters. Luffy has so much nuance. He is a decent fighter, sees the good in everyone he meets or at least tries to, but still sees some people are just bad; he is loyal to his friends, his optimism and joy is infectious, and he is determined to help people. I love how each character has different personalities, but their goals match. Koby is shy, but wants to help people which Luffy does too. Zorro is a bounty hunter, but has his own moral code. While he is fine killing bad people, he still protects the innocent which parallels Koby and Luffy. The people Luffy chooses to align with have these good characteristics and moral code and he does not see them from a surface level. He can see past their masks which not many people can do.

Been waiting for you guys to react to this! Because this is based on an anime that was based on a manga created by the legend Eiichiro Oda, who is Japanese, you actually will find that the part of the characters names that are said last are actually their first names. That’s why people call Roronoa Zoro, Zoro… and Monkey D. Luffy, Luffy. I absolutely love to see that all four of you are watching this one! I’ve been a fan of one piece for over a decade now and I’m so happy the live-action got the adaptation it deserves, even though there is quite a bit that was changed or left out, it’s done expertly and doesn’t ever feel like it’s done without a reason. As far as I can tell, even from non-anime fans, people don’t have an issue with how speedy it can be. These first 8 episodes cover a good first 45 episodes, give or take a little. Much love to all of you! Been loving all the content! Lord of the rings and Harry Potter is what got me hooked!

42:27 Actually, the other way around. Koby’s presence is actually expansed in this version. After Romance Dawn(which was the first two or three episodes in the anime, whereas it’s the first episode here, which is three times as long as an anime episode) Koby essentially disappeared from the show for a long time, only appearing in a few episodes here and there, showing what he was up to while Luffy was doing his thing, until he finally came back into the story hundreds of episodes later. He appears much more in the live action version of the East Blue Saga than the anime version since he doesn’t just disappear from the story after Romance Dawn.

The adaptation is based on the manga (the source material for the anime) so some things are also fresh for anime fans. Things were compressed, but nothing essential was lost. Anything added was based on throw away lines referring to stuff that happened off screen. Helmeppo’s naked sword dance… not in the manga… or the anime.

I nearly choked from laughter when I watched that part. I'm fully caught up with the anime and the manga and I was happy to see that they nailed Helmeppos character.

I’ve had to remind myself that most people reacting are the anime fans more-so than the manga fans because they would say something didn’t happen the way they portrayed it or they changed things because I remembered that they did happen in the manga.

So fun fact about this show is that all of the actors did a majority of their own stunts. There is behind the scenes of the training and it's incredible

Awesome to see you guys seemed to really like this first episode! I’ve been wondering how someone who knows nothing of one piece would react to the live action, so it’s great to see how well received this first episode was

Those actually are real ships that were built by the set design crew, and the shots are a combination of some on the water/cgi blended in on land. This is one of the most expensive shows ever produced, with a budget of $18-20million per episode. Netflix spared no expense lol

As a long time One Piece fan, getting to see people who have no idea what One Piece is about getting so excited over this adaptation has really made me so happy. It takes me back to the excitement I felt when I first started watching One Piece all those years ago.

Just wanna put it here, that in the manga and anime, Luffy said he wants 10 crews (not specifically men), but here in the live action he added '...and a bird' because one of the member has one 'bird' that follows her.

Really looking forward to the rest of your reactions to this! It’s been so cool watching non-One Piece fans react to this show; I honestly don’t think I’ve seen any new watcher not at least have a ton of fun while watching it. One Piece is genuinely one of the most creative and fantastic stories in modern media history, and I’m so happy that the Live Action is introducing to many new fans to it!!!

Makenyu, who plays Zoro, is the son of Sonny Chiba. AKA Samurai Movies Legend and the one who made the Hattori Hanzo sword in Kill Bill. Dude's Samurai royalty.

I saw this and now im watching the anime, they did an amazing adaptation in this live series. And the actor of Zoro, did all his stunts, he is amazing. And other actors did themselves a lot of stunts too.

The costume Luffy wears has always been high selling. During anime conventions and halloween. The One Piece anime has a very huge fanbase during its Japanese tv adaption airing in 1999 and the manga (comic) being created back in 1997 by Eiichiro Oda, who helped with the creation of the One Piece live action. The anime is really good and popular, and even though the episode count is too mich, you guys should definitely check out the anime if you want.

People who have watched this series blind have noticed the fact that characters tend to wear both modern clothes, and clothes that are more in line with the era of pirates. This is not a coincidence.

As a longtime fan of One Piece, it is so great to see more people getting to laugh along with this show 😂 it’s so much genuine fun, but it also has such genuine depth and heart to it that there really is nothing else quite like it.

Really jazzed to see you all check this show out. One Piece is such a strange beast. When I was a kid, I couldn't get into the anime because it was a little too much. The stretching, Zoro holding his sword in his mouth... it was a little much. I eventually got into it later on, but I'm always impressed by how quickly people who aren't familiar with the source material seem to take the weirdness in stride. Also, *super* impressed by how the choreography makes a case right away that Zoro holding that sword in his mouth is actually useful exciting.

His name is Luffy ,Monkey is more like a surname ,8 episodes of Live action are like prologue in the manga (around 100chapters)they follow plot point pretty faithfull but they change some stuff and cut some charatcers to fit the tv show structure(some great changes some questionable)overall the feeling and heart of what made One Piece is there,great reaction ,glad you liked it because there is so much great stuff coming

Two things. 1. The name of Alvida's ship is the "Miss Love Duck". 2. The Möwe on Morgans Chin is German for Seagull. Could also go with his stereotypical german/arian look. Large, muscular, blond (couldn't see his eyes.) Basicall an easily recognizable bad guy. In the original he wasn't even above executing children and his own men.
