I love how the box episode actually implies that Patrick is clever enough to predict how SpongeBob will act. Originally he’d laugh just by opening the lid and looking in it. Then later he has to pull a string to get the picture out of the side to see it. That implies after SpongeBob promised not to look at it, Patrick knew he would still try so he added that string pulling mechanism to the box to hide the picture in it.
