The crazy part is that in 2008, there actually was a The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror's comic book story entitled "Murder He Wrote" which was a Death Note parody with Bart finding the notebook and Krusty as Ryuk. It was done completely in black and white in an anime style. It was awesome.

What 50 episode character arc? Light got the death note found out it worked and was immediately like Yea I'm God now I'll kill everyone I don't like, and he stays that way the entire series. Yeah the people who worked on Death Note the anime, the films including Re:Light, its studio, they're called DR Movie, a Korean animation studio. They worked with Madhouse to produce Death Note. Koreans are Based when it comes to anime and animation. It' confirmed they did work on the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Anthology episode for this year, this October/Halloween season. I mean, it makes since, most shows and cartoons are animated by Korean studios in that the work and art and frames and drawings get outsourced and given to Korea or South Korea to bring movement, flow, and not just a still image. Based AF!

I can't tell if it's clumsy communications, or just the staff being the staff or what, but I feel like they made a lot of stuff needlessly surface level and boring. Like there's so many angles to take with who'll be the shinigami, some kinda predictable, like Moe or Willie, but they just went with a modern-simpsons-tier "he just has a normal name like Steve"? Chuck this into the pile of THoH episodes that everyone is thirsty to call Simpsons being good again for. These happen every other year, and they're marginally better because the writers phoning it in doesn't stick out in the anthology format. Which is fine, don't get me wrong. I never subscribed to Simpsons being trash just because of a slight drop in quality after season 8. It was trash for other reasons, but only very inconsistently and later on. And it wasn't consistently good, on that flipside. I really don't care if the DVDs aren't worth buying, I can watch Crayon Shin-chan any day I want to cleanse palate.
