Talking about concrete bases, I had concrete plinths built into old Kef 105 years ago, and if you look up Townsend Sir Galahad you will see a metal speaker filled with plaster. Crazy days back then.

The way you talk about kick drum reminds me of the PMC BB5 system, again a large Volt bass driver within a transmission line system. Coincidence?

2:17:24 You spoke about some speakers having a built-in concrete base. Sonus Faber have some Marble built-in base in one of their range haha. Brilliant video, Jes seems to be a great guy who knows his subject, and seems passionate about it !

I am watching this quite late in the day but wanted to let you guys know I became very very curious about this collab speaker and depending on what you come up with you may end up saving me from actually starting a diy saga I have been postponing for quite a while - I suspect and hope you are aiming at something quite similar to what I had in mind , so fingers crossed and you might have just won a customer . Congratulations on channel , on love for ATCs and on this video in particular.

1:51:15 the way he just said *front* doors like that, as if doors are good for speakers... front *doors* ?!?! not infinite baffle in the footwells/wheelarches? with dash-mounted 4" mids taking over at 200Hz, and then A-pillar tweeters?

It's what headphone users have known all along, It is the Mids. That is why I love my Grado 225e's. There needs to be much more of these and cheaper.

The bit about tweaking bits was interesting. I have an old, old pair of ARx speakers & they still sound lovely but I fret about the setting of the tweeter attenuation twiddly bits on the back...always wondering if I've done it right, over done it etc. I'd rather not have the things so I don't have to worry about them.

What can be done about low end group delay? Do ribbon tweeters (Heil types) sound good?

Have you asked ATC about swapping cabinets? You said you wish you had gotten the vertical cabinets. It shouldn't be hard to transfer your drivers and electronics to different cabinets. And the cabinets by themselves shouldn't be all that expensive, mean, compared to the compete speaker....and who knows, maybe they'd give them to you in exchange for making a video comparing the characteristics of the two cabinet designs?

Can I use the ATC SCM 7 for home studio use? I see that they are being sold here in South Africa for around £1025,32 (R20 399,99). That is something I can afford.

The audio levels are surprisingly difficult to get right on our streaming software as we haven’t got a dedicated mixer for it, the levels have to be set using preamps. A mixing desk is next on the very long list of kit we need for live-streaming, as streaming is still a new venture for us

the story here is that broadcasting is a discipline in its self which these guys are comparative beginners as they said. its very different than mixing or mastering, more like concert/live engineering.
