We went to a 75 Year Old Chippy (Theo's Fisheries, CHCH, NZ)

Theo's opened in 1950 and still to day has its 5th generation of family working/operating. We tried the iconic Christchurch fisheries to see if they are good after all these years.
Alby has been rating Fish n Chips for 3 years now across New Zealand. He rates them out of 7 looking for value for money, how it tastes, portion size, under or over cooked, crunchy consistency, fish to batter ratio and the overal experience.
Everything else gets the standard out of 10 rating (burgers, hotdogs, meat patties)

We lived around the corner from Theo's decades ago. Had NO IDEA it was still in the same family. Will definitely be going back. My mum used to buy Lemon fish from there and batter or crumb it herself. It was my absolute favourite thing to eat. Gasping cos, l've just clocked 'swordfish' written on their window. 1,000% going back now. 🍽

maaaate! only been in CHCH a few months and Theos has been the go to for us, happy to see it stacks up amongst the rest! always gone for their standard battered and so far each time has been rig, which i reckon punches above hoki and ele. glad ya loved it!

it's pricey but it sure beats the usual hoki or Lemonfish (I have a soft spot for Lemonfish though... and yes I know it's shark)

Yep. Just commented above that my mum used to buy lemon fish from Theo's and batter or crumb it herself. It's one of my favourite fish and l also don't care that it's shark. Lots of F n C places around Christchurch sell Elephant fish which is also shark and local.

Casual street do a one fry if you ask. Theos do a batter or crumb on any fresh fish they have in store if you ask and pay a little bit extra. 😉

@@1Fish1Scoop you have to have a licence to fresh frie in chch, not sure if that's whole of south island, but cuz if you pre frie anywhere in the north youl go outter bissness real fast in fact I've never had pre frie in north, have you tried cracroft down bottom of bike park bro I'm telling ya it's da best by far in fact il meet you there lol well have a mung out lols chur good video thou bro
