Funny aspect is that a lot of manga readers were predicting them coming back. we found curious how during the post paranormal liberation, they said one prison didn't had jailbreakers, and Gentle was the only villain who we knew were in a normal prison. also during My VillainAcademia, Skeptic says he only failed once in his life. Considering his hacking abilities, people predicted La Brava had to do with it, since she is the only other character with hacking abilities in the series. and simply... Gentle and La Brava were way more important than some people give credit for. They are the first villains that make Deku question his black and white vision, he also the first he sees himself in. Gentle has parallels to Deku and Twice (one bad day ruining his life) and La Brava is a less dangerous version of Toga, instead of having blood obsession, she has love obsession because of her quirk.

It was a little more than that. Not only did he miss but he accidentally stopped a hero from saving them. So he got in trouble and made it hard for him to go down the hero route. Then after seeing an old classmate as a hero forget all about him. He spiralled down a depressing route until he found la brava and she found him. They made each other better people. But they were never evil.

And when he 'attacked' a convenience store that sold a mislabeled pudding, he only did so because he wants to send a message that he'll serve justice. gentle was my absolute favorite character in the entire show, and seeing them come back to save the day really caught me off guard. there was a contrast between him trying to lift up the guy he failed to save from when he was still a student to now lifting an entire island (kind of like atlas with the weight of the world on his shoulder).

Bakugo's death was so sudden. I didn't know whether he was dead or incapacitated. Gentle's return was so unexpected and then followed by an amazing buildup so we could really enjoy all the emotions that came with his redemption moment. Top moment and maybe top episode of the season so far IMO.

Gentle and La Brava's voice actors absolutely crushed it. 14:09 for Gentle right after the emotional flashback. A+. Gentle's whole moment was so perfectly put together with the voice acting, sound effects, music, animation, shot selection... I think it's a top 5 My Hero moment for me.

The scene where Shigaraki bursts from the chest of his old body feels like a scene straight out of Alien. Absolutely wild. I was so happy reading the dialogue in the manga about the mall because it was one of the first times in a long time that you could tell Shigaraki was speaking. Not AFO. Not a mix of the two of them. Just Shigaraki. He remembered his talk with Deku at the mall and basically tells him to his face that he's his villain. And Deku remembers Shigaraki's speech from last season. The lack of understanding from the others is why society has heroes and villains. Skeptic mentioned way back in MVA that he had only failed once before in his life. Just one time. And we see what that was in this episode. La Brava hacking into his company's systems and basically screwing them over. Now she gets to do the same thing again as Gentle pulls out his inner Atlas and begins to hold up the sky. Well, a trampoline of air holding up a falling dome in the sky. But still. That's a lot of pressure. Nagant, Gentle, La Brava and Shigaraki. All villains who returned in their own ways this episode. Speaking of villains, Touya is headed straight for Endeavor. And this time, Endeavor promises to keep watching him.

Friendly reminder that Gentle didn't have La Brava with him in prison. That means he held back an entire prison full of angry villains by himself for several hours without the Power of Love buff that she gives him. Mad props to Gentle Criminal, he's a real one.

Regarding the ‘saving’ dynamic between shigiraki and deku, there’s is no redeeming/forgiving shigi, and deku has recognised this and says that he has to stop him at any costs even if that means killing him. During the last war deku even went for a kill shot on shigi with a 100% smash to the head but was blocked, this was before he saw the ‘crying tenko’. Remember deku is completely ignorant to shigis story and believed he was evil the same way as AFO, deku reaching out to tenko to ‘save’ him is more so him trying to understand his feelings and why he was lead down a villain path the same as gentle and lady nagant. Killing shigi right now is just a bandaid solution and won’t help prevent further people like shigi existing. Deku understanding and reaching a hand out to tenko is him saving him. This goes back to deku and Ochacos talk before the final war saying there’s no redemption for the villains, but understanding them is essential and important.

I love this episode. It shows how the previous "Hero" system was failing the world by alienating people like Gentle and Nagant, but now there is a place for them in the system that Deku and his friends are working to rebuild.
