If I were you I’d put off building the pool until the spring because the winter months are hard on pools and filtration systems even if you’re not running them. Spend the winter months settling into your home and getting the animals into more permanent pastures. You’ll go crazy looking out your back door at a pool you can’t use all winter! I sure would.

Thank you for the tour and giving an update on the house. One day closer to moving in.😁 Re: the pool, check w/ your insurance company for they may require a X foot fence surround the pool. If they don’t “require you may want to do anyway, not only for safety, but to then get lower premium. Hope it stays cool for ya’ll. We have had and will continue to have cooler weather for some time out and I am loving it!

Agree! Insurance companies are pretty strict when it comes to having a fence around in-ground swimming pools and wood stoves/fireplaces in the home. Since they're not going to have an in-ground pool, for their children's safety, it might be VERY WISE for them to have a pool with the safety fence above the top rails along with a removable ladder or a ladder that can be locked closed when not in use.

Growing up we weren't allowed to play "up by the road" either. We rolled our eyes until a car rolled into the yard one evening.

Our home has vent in master bedroom walk-in closet and bath areas all next to each other like yours. Bathroom in bed & closet area retains moisture from showering. Added vents help move air flow to keep rooms from getting mold. The most important fact is to keep the “air return vents” clean and not blocked by furniture. The systems need air returned from rooms to be efficient. I’m also like others concerned by vents in that garage. Please ask building supt about that to make sure hvac guys have correct placement, they may think that’s a family room.

We kept our bathroom one open, because it helps keep the moisture/ therefore mold, out of the bedroom/bathroom, closet and rest of the house. The biggest one is the return air vent. What goes in, must come out...:)

I am so glad they are putting your A/C/Heat vents in the ceiling. Sometimes they are installed either in the floor or very low on the walls. What a pain to try and arrange furniture without blocking them. These guys seem to be doing it right. Also...Rheem is supposed to be a very good unit. You're getting close!!

I live in Norman and I had a foot of standing water all the way around my house. The rain was coming down so fast and a lot of it that it could not drain fast enough. Thank god it did not come in my house. My potted plants and flowers I had in the yard all floated around the yard. Luckily when the rain slowed it all drained away. It was crazy here.

Stephanie if you don't put some water in the pool the sun will shrink the liner. We always put about 4 inches of clean sand on the bottom and then use a vibrator and water to compact the sand and then put a couple of tarps to reinforce the liner underneath. You could just put the metal up so you can build the deck.

Yes a big pool. I had four children like you. My above ground pool was an oval. 4’ deep at one end and 6-7’ deep at other end. 18’ wide by 33’ long. We put it up against a patio like yours. On a hill. So that it was like an inground pool on the patio side but no dirt around the back side. The best part is I bought a curved pool slide ! It was anchored onto the cement. We all enjoyed that slide. My children were 3, 4, 5, 6 years old. I taught them all to swim within 2 weeks. Never used floaties or life jackets. Even the 3 year old could swim the length of the pool underwater coming up for air as needed. But. They were never allowed to get in the pool without permission and an adult present. There were no pool fences etc. my children were like yours. They were raised to mind and disciplined immediately if they didn’t. Nothing like having to sit and watch your siblings and neighbors play in a pool. ALL day. None of them ever broke the rules twice.

You look so pretty, Stephanie! I have been thinking about the layout for your living room. TV - the best place for the TV is on the wall behind the door. Make sure the electrician puts the TV wall receptacle where you want the tv so you won't have to run wires up the wall. are you putting TVs in the kids bedrooms? Brendan's recliner - I would put his recliner in front of the window. There will be room for it & maybe a couple of bean bags for the kids. Sofa/Loveseat - I am not a fan of sectionals; I've had two and sold both of them. I would get a sofa for the main wall and a loveseat for the other wall. This will give you room to put tables & lamps. You can also buy a sofa called a zero wall sofa that has recliners in it. they only need to be 2 to 3 inches from the wall . I highly recommend if you get a sofa with recliners to get power, not manual. You can also get them with a console in the middle with cupholders and storage for the TV remote. I don't think those sit as comfortable as a regular recliner sofa. Just my ideals! You have a lot of options. Hugs from Georgia

Thanks for the tour of the house. My only question is why is the vent in your closet???? That is just so wrong you need for them to extend the venting to the bedroom. Speaking of digging a place for the pool and leaving it empty, no not a good idea. That is a liability that will raise your home insurance costs and leaving a partially built in ground pool will only cause it to be weakened and a catch all for rain, yard waste, and a breeding round for mosquitoes, frogs and algae. Wait on the build you already have the other pool. See you next time.

I’d wait till spring to put pool up. Winter can be hard on pool. You won’t be using it till next summer and that will leave less wear and tear of the sun on liner on it over winter. With everything going on and getting ready to move in soon you have plenty to keep you busy. Not that spring and summer won’t also be busy. Was also going to suggest once construction is completely done get one of those wheeled magnets that you can roll around and make sure all nails and stuff are picked up. I got mine at harbor freight. You can get them at lowes, or Home Depot. Tractor supply may carry it. Much better to do that than get nails in tires or have kids step on something or animals. It’s something the kids can all do easily and even make a game of it. It can be surprising how much you will pick up.

Not that its my life but I would'nt want a big empty pool stood for goodness knows how long collecting leaves , sand and bits of whatever is blowing around , I'd be waiting until you have all the materials to start and finish the job including the decking - let the kids play in the other one for now , until your all moved in and settled & sorted in the house because you'll probably find you have a heap of little things to take care of when you eventually get moved into the house .

@vickihamrick5134
@vickihamrick5134 Ай бұрын
Are you going to heat and cool the garage? That will really run your power bill up! I’d rethink that. As for the pool, I’d get estimates this fall or winter with installation for early next summer. Again, do some research as to cost and work it takes. Mine is 18x36 and it trip,es my power bill for every month I have the filter running. The chemicals run about $800 a season, and you need pool equipment, manual pool vacuum hoses, brush and vac head, brushes and nets to brush floors, walls and waterline, and at least an hour a day to test the water, add needed chemicals, remove leaves and grass accumulated since the prior day, and to vacuum a section each day. If you wait to do it all one day, it will take two to three hours. I have an automatic pool cleaner and they cost about $1,400 and only last about three years. Check with your insurance company to see what they require regarding permanent fence, locked gates, etc. I would have it to the back side of the house, not directly between your house and the beautiful view you have. The pool fence will break up your view. You don’t want to install the pool until you are ready to use it. Once the water is added, you have to begin adding chemicals and this late in the season, I’d wait until next summer. I have had a pool for over 30 years. My kids are grown and gone and their neighborhoods have public pools, so my pool is seldom ever used. Once you have one, you have to maintain it year round! Good luck.

Happy Sunday Stephanie! I soooo enjoyed this video like I always do! You make me feel like we're having a wonderful visit together. Whenever you put your above ground pool up, you will need to put water in it right away because the water will keep the sides from getting blown over and damaged. When you build the deck around it, make sure that the goats can't climb onto it, get into the pool, and drown. That will be such a great place to put the pool. and I like the idea of having a rectangular pool, too. So much is getting done to your house already! How exciting!! With loads of love, prayers, and gentle hugs for you all and your critters, too, Donna in Florida......
