We do have to ask who's controlling the renewables, though; The same big energy-producing corporations that did fossil fuels. They just can't let go of us, and we need to address that corporate side of it, too. We can do it, though. There is also the concern of the pollution created by making those solar panels and wind farms. The developing areas where the components are possibly produced could be exposed to the harmful waste products. We need to make sure that impact is minimised and the practices of the factories are kept clean.

The thing is that solar panels, electric cars etc... are great to help reduce CO² emissions, it is unfortunately not very good for the environment, it needs rare and extremely polluting materials to be used/excavated/what not that is very bad for the environment. So at our current state, we are stuck between helping fight pollutions or climate change, by doing one we might worsen the other :/ This is why it is not easy, we have to find ways of stopping/slowing climate change by using nature friendly things and it is absurdly difficult But watching the world nowadays, it seems that we are getting closer and closer to make BOTH better, which is great and reassuring^^

@@sciarpecyril You are right, contrarily to popular belief, nuclear power is actually way more environment friendly than solar panels for examples. The ONLY issue is stocking the nuclear wastes and maintaining the nuclear plant, otherwise reject way less greenhouse gases. So it is indeed a completely viable solution, even more so if some day we figure out nuclear fusion

@@TheMayanGuy, a nuclear power plant requires a fairly small amount of nuclear fuel to operate, so we have learned how to collect and safely store waste. There are also fast neutron reactors that can use waste as fuel and "burn" it, further reducing the amount of radioactive material in storage.

I'm on team nuclear (a pox on all the greens that are stuck on radiation hysteria), but saying other renewables are not an option is not really sensible. If they are not used, then it's the regular old power plants and cars. They use metals, oil and concrete, none of which sprout naturally from ground. The mining process does terrible damage, and concrete is one of the biggest sources of CO2 emissions.

Talking about climate change, why does it seems like people scared of nuclear energy?

Indeed. I think it is tied to operational risks still. Beside the public's and some leaders opinions on events like Chernobyl or Fukushima, efficient waste removal is still a big talking point( to my knowledge)

it's really an irrational fear. Modern nuclear energy is so much safer especially if it's handled competently. And the amount of waste is extremely miniscule. Not to say other green energy is invalid.

@@TheChillzoneX The newest designs of nuclear powerplants can actually use the waste from older type of powerplants. Of course building them is extremly expensive and takes long time. I mean its a building with rather strict criterias.. unlike a solar or wind farms. People need to let go of the fear of nuclear power. Chernobyl happened primarily because of human error. The fact that it was a rather poor design was only a secondary factor. With proper care nothing would have happened at chernobyl. And Fukushima... Can we please not put f-ing nuclear powerplants on the Ring of Fire zone? Where earthquakes of 5.0 or greater are a regular orrucance, followed up by rather large tsunamis.

@@19Crusader91 you're right, but Fukushima happened because the director negligence. He was warned that a tsunami high enough that it could overcome the sea wall they built are likely to happen, yet he didn't do anything about that. (Source from Kyle Hill video, he had source attached or mentioned i forgor). So my point is, even if you put an NPP in a country where earthquake and tsunami occurred quite often, as long as you designed it to be able to withstand everything including something that's unpredictable then it's fine. But it's going to be expensive... so... yeah.

BTW there are quite a few statements \ narratives in Kurzgesagt's videos on climate, that are questionable at least. If you're intersted, watch "Kurzgesagt and the art of climate greenwashing" by Think That Through (yeah the title is cringe, but the content is good and provides valuable context). Long video though, almost 2 hours long, so might not be suitable for content creation. Example on context: "green" Norway uses electic cars and renewable energy, but profiting from selling oil and buying electric cars on lithium batteries, and lithium mining efining is very harmful for environment

Just don't believe either, or anything on that regard, without any analytical barrier. I've watched the video, but it's obvious, that it also has exaggerations in the negative direction. While kurzgesagt has the more naive approach, and their videos might really trigger some bad results in some people (while giving other people hope to do something), truth lies something in-between. So get all the information you can, but make your own judgement based on the data available. Don't simply take over positions and opinions from others. The best way is, if you get some distance to the content and it's flavors and colors, and then you are much more able to determine the right thing. Kurzgesagt is not all right, and also not all wrong. Think That Through is not all right, and also not all wrong. Every information you consume that is flavored by opinions, has to be taken with a grain of salt, in order to gain the right content from it. From multiple sources, and that combination gives you an overview how things are, and following that, what to do.

I feel hopeless still even with that video. But I have never thought about giving up. Our government is refusing to change, to help the environment to help its people. SO even if green industry become too profitable and then the lobby the hell out of our government to change things. They won't be in the favor of our people. Why would I want to bring kids in that.
