The Senate has passed $95 billion in war aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, sending the legislation to President Joe Biden after months of delays and contentious debate over how involved the United States should be in foreign wars. Biden said the bill's approval showed the United States stood "resolutely for democracy and freedom, and against tyranny and oppression," while the Senate's top Democrat, Chuck Schumer, said it sent a message that the United States "will not turn our back on you."

Serious question: why don’t Ukraine and Israel, which are sovereign countries, issue their own bonds and raise the money themselves? Why does the US have to go into debt, and then give away the money we borrowed?
