Great video man In 8:20 you can fix this problem simply by performing the regular F chord (not power chord) but while placing the thumb on the first fret, 6th string. This will allow you to play the "full" F sound.

The artists name is Charlie Cunningham an the song is Blindfold! I love his style of playing an the song means so much to me. I would love to learn that song. I don't how to contact you on another way so i tried this. Maybe there is a possibility in making a tutorial of that song. Keep going - you're videos are so detailed and every time i watch them i grab my guitar and try you're tipps. Thank you anyway for your work

Having played guitar since 1995 and studied the musical theory, I knew all the arrangement devices you used here, but I had such a good time just watching you go over the process of arranging the song simply because, for one, you are a genuinely pleasant person, for two, I was overjoyed to spot the ascending base line potential right before you pointed it out, and three, the solution for puzzle of the E/G# chord voicing/finger pattern was a tiny surprise. I was taken on a nostalgia trip with a Christmas tune backing.

Can you tell me how to learn music theory easily and how do I use them? Actually I'm a beginner just only know the basic chords.......and I'm interested to learning theory .if you tell me about that then that would be helpful for me

12:15 I think you mean F# as your “bass” note. The “root” note of a D chord is always D. However, the bass note can change. You probably know that Paul but your viewers may not be so savvy.

I'm watching this as a ukulele player because a lot of the concepts are pretty much the same, but the re-entrant GCEA tuning is kind of annoying for fingerstyle arrangements and chord melodies because there's always a high note interrupting the melody a bit. I'm looking into getting my uke set up with a low g string soon so I won't have to worry about that. Great video!

@@lamchingshak8725 yeah but what I meant was to play C/E which is the first inversion of C major. It's quite to do that when you want to have a "consistent" bassline. Something like C/E F D/F# G for example.

Great video! But the one thing that no one ever talks about is how to go from a melody line to underlying chords. In this example, the chords are C, F, D, G, E, and Am. The melody line leads to chords that contain notes that are not purely in the key of C (or G). What's the process to make the jump from a piece of melody line to its respective chord?
@PaulDavids7 жыл бұрын
You can see the D and the E (the chords not the key of C major) as dominant chords (the fifth degree, the V chord) of the G and the Am (chords that are in the key of C). It's called a secondary dominant, it's a very common thing!
@milesbintz55977 жыл бұрын
Indeed. But is there a process (creative/mathematical/otherwise) to derive chords from the melody line? Could I program a computer to pick the chords for me? Or is it just trial and error and experience?

It's called Moll-Dur, where the sixth note get's lowered, resulting in a minor sub-dominant chord -> Cm (in key of G)

What technique are you using to put space between the chords at the end of the phrase, 0:33 through 0:35? Is it some sort of muting? I never can tell from watching videos how guitarists do that cause it goes by so fast. I don't think you are palm muting, so I'm guessing it's just an effect you get when you lift your left hand fingers to get to the next chord, but it has to be deliberate, which means you have to have time to mute (raise the fingers?) AND move to the next chord and it all happens very quickly. Too quick to actually see!
