Pager and walkie-talkie attacks across Lebanon amount to a 'war crime', the Lebanese ambassador to the UK has told Andrew Marr.
The claim comes as Rami Mortada told Tonight with Andrew Marr that Israel is actively trying to sabotage ceasefire efforts in the region.
"I think behind Lebanon there is another victim of the attack - the American effort to secure a ceasefire," Mr Mortada exclusively told LBC.
Speaking on Thursday following a second wave of explosions in Lebanon, Mr Mortada labelled the explosions a "violation to international humanitarian law".

There's a poor understanding in this conversation of the fact that Lebanon is not only 'not Hezbolla,' it is the recipient of billions of dollars of US military aid. They have 84,200 troops, mostly US trained. Israel seems to be intentionally pushing the State of Lebanon toward war. That's quite different from skirmishes with the Hezbollah-held territories.

Skirmishes??? They are firing thousands of missiles into Israel every week. Lebanon are totally responsible for the actions of Hezbollah that they allow to take place. Quite frankly, Israel should make clear to Lebanon that they have no interest in war with them. But if they allow any missiles to be fired into Israel, then Beirut will be razed to the ground. Sadly, this is the only language they understand and it should be a deterrent. Lebanon cannot fire thousands of missiles at Israel and not expect a response! What do you think the USA or UK would do? Actually, what do you think any country in the world would do?? Lebanon have a choice. It is either peace or their country will be turned into Gaza! It’s their choice!

Since then Israel has been sharing selected intelligence with them on Palestinian extremist activities. More recently Israel agreed the Abraham accords with other Arab states and began sharing intelligence and technology with them aimed at countering Iran. This is why it is Iran’s proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah, that are attacking Israel in an attempt to sabotage the alignment of interests between Israel and the majority of Arab states. Israel has no interest in a wider conflict, and the Arab states aligned against Iran know this. Thats why they are staying silent and it’s only Iran that is making a fuss. The root of all of this is the religious extremist government in Iran.

@@mimicocto That doesn't wash. Lebanon is a sovereign country. They are standing back and allowing Hezbollah to operate. If they don't want them to operate, the Lebanese army must act against them. As a matter of International law, Lebanon is responsible for any militia acting from their territory. Given that they take no action against Hezbollah, who are in Parliament, then they are responsible for their actions. In short, they either support them, or must destroy them! As they do not destroy them, they support them and will have to take the consequences!
