Congrats Cam ❤, your evolution in the single is incredible 🥰, I know how hard is to transition from sweep to scull, almost a new sport! Amazing to watch you win! ❤
@rowyeah4566 ай бұрын
The work≠speed idea is huge, I struggle with that in the smaller boats as well. Always trying to keep efficiently in your mind is tough when I've got so much weight I can put into every stroke, and it got you the win! Congrats Cam, hell of a racing season so far
@CameronBuchan6 ай бұрын
Indeed! So easy to think more hard work equals more speed!

Thank you for putting this together. I'm always impressed at how you can narrate your experience during the race day; there are plenty of us who would find it a mentally challenge to be articulate on race day. I have a question about the time trial - did you say that you are not allowed to have the splits (time/500m) on during the TT? Because why wouldn't you if you could? IMHO the Livestream showed you responding to the push from your competitor towards the finish by staying comfortably ahead without an obvious increase in rate or power. The 360 view of the race was great. There is a KZbin post of the HOCR 1x Champ (2018) who had a 360 camera on his single and you could turn the view around 360. It was cool to see his race and course from all viewpoints and very helpful in preparation for racing there.

You’re welcome! No, I said I chose not to have splits on the screen as they have been a distraction in the past. It does record hence I was able to show after the race. Yes I wasn’t trying to stay ahead really, just stay clean. I had a very big gap at the k so I was comfortable having that gap get smaller. Yes I could do that aswell. It would have to be a seperate video though as you cannot combine both types of footage in one overall video

I like knowing it in advance, takes the edge off and leaves more mental space to watch the rowing itself. But I can totally get behind why you'd think it's anticlimactic.

Cam, I've been following you for awhile , amazing attitude & oarsman 👏 , speaking as a retired oarsman , who went from been in an eight, to the skull , my biggest flaw was balance, & I can see you struggling with it , obviously been such a big man , your centre of gravity needs to be lowered into the skull , get that sorted out, & i can say with confidence you will be hard to beat . Best of luck in Henley ❤
@CameronBuchan6 ай бұрын
Thank you! I wouldnt say balance is what I struggle with but yes definitely wouldn’t hurt to have the centre of gravity lower. Hard to do without an entirely different cockpit design! Seat and feet can only get so low!
@joemaloney89116 ай бұрын
@CameronBuchan tell me about it , the back of my calf muscles torn to shreds . Obviously, some creative design could do wonders for the sport, maybe a bigger fin , but rather in the stern , have it in the middle , anyway love the contents & very enjoyable watching your journey..

Really happy - look pretty good to face the big boys at henley - you must be near top of auto-qualifiers? Maybe the coastal rowing has given your sculling technique a little bit of needed "plasticity"??
@CameronBuchan6 ай бұрын
I think there’s another jump up needed for some of the big boys that have entered! Yes, I have pre qualified for the diamonds with the recent results 💪 it definitely hasn’t made my rowing worse! I think there a few different things that I’ve done different recently that have really helped!

Bloody brilliant Yamming yet again Cam 🏅 Just as well you don’t get to keep all these cups as you wouldn’t have the space! Liked that in the trials you’re going off feeling rather than data crunching the splits - okay, you doubted that it was 100% but great to be proved slightly wrong. Annoyingly you came away from that not completely hanging which you saved for the race! Towards the end you could see those wobbles to strokeside going to the catch plus going deep but you are now definitely in control 😎 Top Job

It’s really been interesting to see your race plan shift to this even split style, and with another win under the belt, I’m excited to watch where you go with it! Congrats on the win! And maybe skip the “fly and die” style while you’re messing with the race plan
@CameronBuchan6 ай бұрын
Wouldn’t say I’ve shifted the plan. More experimenting as the new technique, training plan etc means I’m feeling much more efficient which is something I’m not used to! Needing to see where the limits are if I keep pushing! Ideally all the way to the finish line!
