This makes me sad. I rescued my dog from the shelter and he was also very matted and neglected for a long time. He lifted his paw just like that too. So glad that this little guy has a happy ending. He is so sweet.❤️

How did this happen? I"ll tell you a story that happened to my sister at work. She got in to a conversation with a fellow employee, but she worked on a different floor. Her mother had just passed away. She had a beloved cat that was over 10 years old. She pleaded with her 27 year old daughter to take care of her. The daughter agreed then that night, she dumped that poor cat in a thick forest!!! The poor thing had no way of being rescued. So my sister asked her what forest? She was going to go look for her. But she said that was over 2 weeks ago. THIS is how heartless even your own kids can be. You cannot trust any relative to take care of your pet. She would have been better off calling a shelter to pick her up. At least she would of had a life. I live in a Senior housing complex and 2 Seniors found their little dogs right here by our garbage cans!!! Alone, hungry and abandoned. A senior probably died and the kids abandoned it by the garbage cans so Someone could pick it up. Mercifully, they did. Both ladies took them, gave them homes and now are the darlings of the other residents. They LOVE to be greeted by everyone. I have my last cat and I pray that I outlive him. He's 17 and I also a 21 year old cat that died 3 months ago. I would NEVER trust my beloved pets to a relative. Too many stories about the horrors they commit.

@@passion777able That is a horror story for sure. A lot is how kids are raised, however. We were raised w/cats & were not allowed to have a dog till the youngest (me) was old enough to know the responsibility of having a dog. All our pets were spayed/neutered by 6 mos. All annual checks w/shots, flea meds, etc. They were all very well cared for, b/c our parents made sure of it & instilled that in all 5 of us. They were also all kept for life, as it was made clear to us, that pets are not disposable. If you’re unable to afford to care for one properly, or live a very busy life, you don’t get one. You don’t get one while renting, unless you’re positive you move w/it. Get a goldfish if you need something to care for besides a plant. 😂 The dog was never allowed to be ignored. We couldn’t just go out & play w/our friends & leave our dog behind. He required walks, brushing, baths, being fed, trained well, play time, etc. He didn’t sit behind a fence while we took off to the park, or on our bikes. Someone was w/him to pay attention to him. Pets are a tremendous learning tool for children. Responsibility & respect are the 2 biggies. Love & companionship come naturally. Unconditional love comes only from the dog...which teaches not just kids, but people what that’s all about. B/C ppl aren’t capable of it. All 5 of us have had pets as adults. All have been as well vetted & cared for as all the ones we grew up with. When my mother was unable to take care of her senior cat anymore, my sister took her & kept her till she died. The same for my fathers cat, when he went into a nursing home. They allowed her to bring the cat to visit him, which gave him great comfort. All of us would step up for another’s pet, if needed. One of us would be able to. That’s carried over from our childhood. And I know others who are the same. It’s the ones who had parents who didn’t treat their pets like family, that have the care less attitudes. Or the ones who never had pets growing up, that don’t always ‘get it’, &/or may have been influenced poorly by others towards animals. Kids w/certain emotional &/or mental issues can be a bad mix w/pets, too. So as adults, are no better. That gal is void of something, obviously. And has some unchecked emotional issues. She proved that in her horrid treatment of that poor cat, when she could have just brought it to a shelter. That still would have shown a lack of care & respect for her mother, but a better fate for her mother’s beloved kitty. Her mother shouldn’t have had to beg & plead w/her to take the kitty. There’s a disconnect right there. She’s lacking, big time. Shameful. But obviously doesn’t even have that. :/

@@passion777able Look to see if someone, or a couple, for a backup, in your complex, would want to take your kitty, if something happened to you. Put it in writing & file it w/someone in charge there, so they know... I have a friend that has neighbors who will take her cats if something happens. It’s been set for years. Their adult kids like the cats. So they’ll have a home, one way, or the other. She even has a few hundred $ that will go w/them. A client I used to have, wanted me to take his dog when his time comes. I said yes, b/c the dog loved me & vice versa. He had it put in his will, along w/some $ for care of the dog. We didn’t have to cross that bridge, however. Too many ppl don’t make solid arrangements for their pets. And that’s how unfortunate things happen.

I know lots of people might say this, but Saint reminds me so much of my dog. We adopted her from the RSPCA, who said she’d been a stray, probably on the streets for a long time. Her coat was completely overgrown and matted, she had fleas and she was very, very skinny. It took LOTS of love, training (with treats to fatten her up!) and patience, but she finally settled in to our home life like she was always meant to be here. Saving one dog (or cat) doesn’t change the world, but it sure changes the world for that individual pet.

For some reason I guess I want to believe his previous owner was elderly and couldn't possibly care for him properly, but loved him so much wouldn't give him up.🥲 Finally, someone brought him to the church were he would be blessed enough that an angel (that's you) would find him and care for him.
