The channel between the outside centre (13) and winger is a notoriously difficult "seam" to defend. Often defenders are caught in two minds on who to mark when attacking sides run angles, decoys and positional changes as part of a set play.

so what do you think 13 should do in those kind of situations? I play 14, when I got caught on 1(me) vs 2, I stay between them but closer to the ball carrier (usually the inside one), my chest face (body angle) the outside supporter and follow the carrier (of course the distance between those two affects my self-positioning and my body angle). I try to slow them down by doing so and wait for help or wait for the carrier to make a move. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think as long as you stay connected with your inside defender i.e. always have him in your sights as you scan your opposition, it gives you trust that he has the channel between you and him. If he's not there, then let him know you're losing him in the defensive line so he can work on it. Also common to use the touchline as another defender as long as you're confident you can shut down the space if your opposite suddenly gets the ball. Just a matter of clarity between 13 and yourself so you guys are comfortable defending as a collective rather than individuals.
