Update, mine broke as soon as I attempted to open the pliers. Something popped out. I returned it and got a replacement. It has served me well opening packages and making paracord bracelets and other paracord related items. I just wish it felt more solid. The blades on the knife and scissors are sharp and handle most light cutting well. The toughest thing I have cut with the knife and scissors was a leather belt. It had very little trouble.

I've always said, they're just something to use for those little tasks once in a while. When theres a box or bag of normal tools close by use them, but when a small task pops up that doesn't require much the multitool is king.

this is the whole point of these tools, either for small tasks or simply get you out some trouble. Some multitools can be considered like "real tools" and then you might have them as a complement to your tool box or mini minimalist gear,

What I like about mini multitools is that when you have a delicate fine task that needs to be done and a pocket sized or full sized multitool can not fix it or might the worsen the problem. The keychain/mini multitool is there to solve it.

I have a Gerber Dime as well as a Nextool Flagship (not the mini yet), a bunch of Victorinox and a Leatherman Squirt, and I can say that the Nextool build quality is superior to Gerber's, hands down. At least on this range of tiny multitools. I would even go on saying that it is very close to the leatherman squirt. These mini tools are often a bit of a gadget and manufacturers don't always treat them as seriously as their bigger models. It is not the case with this Nextool which is on par with the bigger model obviously.

The scissors on the mini are head and shoulders above the crappy ones on the Squirt. Also the Phillips SD on the Nextool Mini is very useful for it's size whereas the Squirt just has a short v shaped piece of very soft metal which gets burred very easily. Plus the bottle opener opens bottles first time. I have a Squirt too and I like it, the form factor is nicer and it's much more compact, but I only carry it on days I'm unlikely to need it, it's more of a gentleman's carry/contingency. Otherwise if I'm not carrying a bag with a larger multitool, I take the Nextool Flagship Mini.

There are loads of little things they could do to upgrade this to make it more awesome. Like you said, tweezers, they could add some markings for a depth gauge/ruler onto the Phillips, there’s loads of spaces for pins, toothpicks etc. when mine arrives, I’m going to see what things I can upgrade it with and then suggest it to Nextool. From what I’ve seen, they’re really good with taking on ideas.

Thanks, bro! Yeah these keychain tools are not usually the most durable, any brand, I've seen a lot of Gerber Dimes broken on KZbin. Someone was telling me the springy part for the scissor handle on the Nextool can wear out, so I am going to be careful with it.

good review - these are about £14 as of Nov'23. I'm interested in low thickness as I want to put together a long but thin EDC pack in a custom wallet that I can slide into a side pocket of trousers or suit trousers for work. Might try one of these to see how it goes, was originally considering both little Leathermans but this looks better made than I expected.

I think the biggest strength also the weakest link is the scissor. At one point in time the small metal piece that support the scissor will break over time. I saw some posting from people who bought it.

Great review as always. Scissors are my most used tool on a multi tool followed by a saw, then file. If only it had a saw but then I Deremeled a usable saw onto the Leatherman Squirt's file bottom.

Thanks for the vid! I was curious about the scissor proposal and decided to try one of these. At first, I was impressed; the scissors were spectacular, the main blade was sharp (as the scissors were) and the rest of the tools seemed OK. I carried it in my backpack or pants, but a month or two after, with almost no use, the scissors spring broke out of the blue. I mean, that is an awfully brittle alloy material. I had the choice to take the scissors out but found out the brand sells a replacement leg/spring (coincidence?) so I decided to try again without great expectations (it is about to arrive). I find that this multi-tool has a very nice design; I even thought of buying the standard size, but not anymore. If they changed the alloy material for a proper one for the job of multi-tooling, it would be a good choice.

I have heard from a few other people whose also broke that way, it is interesting they sell the spring (is it on Amazon?). I also noticed they have come out with a new version of this that has different handle scales. I wonder if the new versions have a different spring tab for the scissors?

Welcome! The Microtechs are costly, so when I buy one, I am always too tempted by their folding knives or their fixed blades knives, rather than an OTF. Where I live, OTF are legal to own, but not always legal to carry on the street, it depends on the situation, so I am more able to use the non OTFs in daily life.

It is decent, but they had a problem with one of the tabs breaking. Not sure if they fixed it in the newer models that have colorful scales. I would be extra careful when opening the scissors, that is where the tab in question is, other than that, it's good.

I own this one and it's pretty good, All I would have liked was a reamer and a little V notch function on the philips driver, a 4 mm bit driver on the handle where the file is in between the file and the philips tweezers hidden inside the scissor handle + a keychain 4mm bit kit. This could compete with cybertool with a cheaper price.

I am not so much concerned over what they can do, but how long they last and how secure are the tools. I have had a Leatherman squirt break, and other cheapo tools tend to come apart after a few uses.

Had two of these. Really wanted them to work as the size and layout and functionality is great, unfortunately the spring bars on both broke within a month of light use. Definite design flaw / material problem. Avoid.

Thanks, I've seen similar issues mentioned in buyer reviews here on a UK seller site, almost half of them had issues out of the box or with light use so I have refrained from buying one based on this, although I do like the design and toolset. I will stick with my Squirt PS4 as a mini multitool option.

I had Gerber Dime but scissors were too small to conveniently cut anything - belive me that even cutting nails would be a problem (didnt try though). Gerber Splice scissors are inferior quality too. I just ordered this nextool and I hope scissors will be fine.

I feel obligated to update on my comment. I ordered my Nextool Mini Flagship in green color. It looks nice. Scissors are sharp and I would seriosly compare them to Victorinox scissors. Miniflasgsip scissors have one disadvantage though - their maximum inside width to be opened is 1,25 cm (0,5 inch) - to me its acceptable, but its way less than victorinox SAK scissors. Pilars - to be honest they are not much different than SAK Victorinox pillars except now it's the Nextool pilars that open wider. Plus Nextool pilars are a bit longer, but probably not stronger. Other tools are nice and good quality. Overall Im very happy with my new bought Nextool Flashship Mini. Nextool Flagship Mini is way better quality than Gerber Dime - no questions about it. I sent back my Gerber Dime to get refund because it was so disaapointing and so low quality, at the same time Im very happy about my Nextool Mini Flagship.

I've heard of those reviews also. People have reported that one of the metal pieces on the scissors handle can snap. So now what I do, just in case, is be careful when unfolding it, and I put a finger on the springy metal tab to brace it.

Exactly, I guess I also pointed out that thing long time ago. @wealljuggleknives why would you file a hardware nail? Nail file = finger nails Metal file = metal Wood file = wood I think you just use file on rusty nail so that we can see the portion which is filed. No complains, I rank files by looking at the filled part on your hardware nail so, keep it up :)

A real nail file has a roughed surface, not crosshatch. The Victornix SD has an actual nail file, for example. I hope the difference is clear.

@@WeAllJuggleKnives I have seen finger nail files with roughed surface, cross hatch and line hatch on many different nail clippers. The difference lies more in the type of steel used, heat treatment and less in which hatch pattern in used. Finger nail file don't need hardened steel, it can be done with normal steel. On the other hand, metal file needs to be harder than the metal it's intended to file.

It has to be harder than the nail if you wish to use it as a hacksaw to cut through the nail. However, smoothing and polishing is a valid usage of a file. Knocking some rust off, as it did, was smoothing and polishing. I feel that no one should be offended by this. Also, I am not going to manicure my fingernails in a video, I mean come on :] this channel is for men (and also for women who don’t care about breaking a fingernail).
