Weapon Lowering in Halo Infinite- EXPLAINED!

Long Overdo Update: You can lower your weapon WAY easier now, by going into Mode/Match and toggling 'Machinima Mode' on. Once you're in, hold 'X' and Down on the D-pad for 3 seconds. Weapon will pop down. You can aim for it to raise, and when you stop aiming it will go back down. Shooting will raise the weapon. You can apply this setting to any map, and any mode. 💪

This is the biggest reason we need playable elites in Infinite. There’s a good reason the machinema scene has been dead in all 343 games, because Reach was the last game that was well suited for them. I’m sure there are plenty of stories you can make with just Spartans, but you’d be extremely limited on your options for stories to tell. Plus, Reach’s maps, including the campaign maps, are simply the best backdrops for a machinema (I especially like that collapsing building in New Alexandria that they used in rise of the Spartans).

Halo 5 had all of the machinima tools don't forget. Being able to detach your camera, swap between move camera and move player and lower your weapon was very helpful. Bungie had you put in a rather stupid button code that only worked offline/ Lan.

@@legendaryodst1727 I don't think these guys care. A common trait among Bungie fans I've noticed is to pin responsibility for something major, on something much more comparatively minor. In this example blaming the removal of playable Elites for the downfall of Halo machinima.

People just dont do machinimas anymore. I think the only reason is because it takes a lot of time and effort. Script, voice recordings, acting, multiple controllers or more people and editing. When done correctly you have amazing things, nothing out there like them but its too much work

@@Espartanica RvB also had years of popularity built up before playable Elites ever became a thing from all the way back in the CE days. Point being, playable Elites were never a huge staple of RvB. A lot of other well known Machinimas didn't have that benefit. Regardless, good stories can be told without Elites, but having them as an option most certainly broadens the range of stories people can tell. And many popular Machinimas back in the day definitely benefitted from their inclusion.

Logical reasons why I don't make Machinima (in the year 2023): 1) I acknowledge that I'll never be entertaining enough to validate publishing a video of one. 2) Old friends I played Halo with don't play Halo and have had their perception of the series tainted - making this a bittersweet reminder. 3) Having discussion with anyone about Machinima (let alone Halo Machinima) has become taboo thanks to the tainting of the term. 4) No person could coordinate a group interested enough to bother in this day and age - and no matter how high-quality a Machinima production could be in 2023 it just won't have anywhere near the same push of motivation to internet-goers as it had during the 00s. 5) People have substituted the image of Machinima with Vtubers, Online Personalities and other things in this age of live-stream content. Why follow some storytelling across some hit-or-miss, gimmick animation medium video series when you can view a clip compilation video of somebody you like, check to see if they've got a schedule and catch them doing something live? People are spoilt for choice and if they're ever that bored enough they'd probably spend their time instead playing around with other emerging tech and entertainment. But even with all that, I'd probably be tempted to try regardless if I knew for-sure that someone actually cared. I just don't feel it. Suggestion would be to open up your own community server for people to test the waters and gather feedback from one another more directly. Made a video a ways back detailing the full Machinima controls and their quirks carried over from 5: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d37Tp6FvadiNi9E They've been super-buggy from launch with weapon lowering just outright being non-functional - though pan-cam should still work as intended so for those who don't want to touch theater and would also prefer to do things in real-time: it's there.

when you record, are you doing so in theater mode after your custom game where you make your characters do their actions? I thought that would make the most sense, but wanted to be sure. Machinima in-game controls will let you control your character while viewing it third person, but it doesn’t seem to let you change the focal length (or zoom) while doing that in that method.

I'll do a mix of both depending on the scene. If you can get 2 players for a scene I recommend grabbing your shots in machinima mode, but otherwise yeah, I record my movements and then go into theater mode. Theater mode gives you lots of additional hiccups and bugs, but when you're doing solo shots your hands are sorta tied to it (unless you have someone else doing all your body acting)

@themango-lorian4027 This was the OG workaround, but nowadays all you need to do is toggle machinima mode on in match settings. Hold 'X' and Down on the D-pad for like 3 seconds and your weapon goes down. On all maps. 🤌

If you skip forward or backwards AT ALL in Theater Mode, the game will forget that you ever used the input to lower your weapon, and you'll need to start the Theater Clip over again. It's frustrating at first, but once you know that you learn to work around it.
