1:13 You don't have to have 24 points. If you have 1 global point to spend, you can start working with weapon sets. Just overwrite your already spent points to weapon set 1. And it will increase weapon set 2.

You don't need to unallocate 24 points. You just need 1 available point for some reason. If you have 1 available point you can assign already allocated nodes to weapon 1. Then you can allocate an equivalent amount to weapon 2.

I just want to thank you ranged people for clearing that 4th floor. I bought a "against the darkness" unique jewel with +1 max lightning res and +1 max chaos res per notable passive in range.. was able to get +6% to both on my build. my warbring is now blasting through t15's as well with 84% lightning resist. that one damage was absolutely wrecking me and now i'm pretty much immune!

You don’t actually have to unallocate them, at least on controller I’m able to set any allocated point that could be unallocated to weapon set 1 and it gives me a point to put in another weapon set

I did some truly psycho stuff on my CI infernalist, had one weapon swap with very high energy shield, and the other with very fast recharge start and rate, and when i got low, swapped to the recharge weapon set to get the shield back in like 2s and then swapped to the high base energy shield to go back to max hit scaling.

This is great! I only have 14 weapon set points so far, but I was able to get Master of Hexes, Lingering Whispers, and Zone of Control. With those, Conductivity curse radius went from 2m -> 2.8m and curse effect modifier went from 25% to 79%. Real world use on an act 1 mob shows the curse debuff icon going from -43% to -60% with the duration going from 9 -> 17 seconds.

I was doing this for sigil of power and blink but I'm definitely going to include this. Don't forget to check breakpoints for sigil/curses cause you might not need a +6 to get the same effect

Really useful vid! I love the idea of weapon tied passive points. It's just so likely that you need to end up respeccing before you know what to put where. Kinda expensive.

When leveling you can also pick the nodes you have weapon skill in with regular points, giving you back weapon skill points to make leveling easier

Thanks for this great vid on explaining weapon sets too. I might give this a go on another class. I want to do more weapon swapping but the Necro/summoner playstyle doesn't feel like it matches the mechanic at all. Having the minion unsummons on swap if they don't have matching spirit etc. I do hope they look over more minion interactions as there seems to be a few things either overlooked or intentionally odd to keep from being OP.

Weapon swap with what weapon is the real question, is what I would say before seeing the video , but the video shows that too, great stuff all around and great tips. And yeah a sigil of power staff with as much + skills as possible and maybe casting speed is generally the way to go. The fact you even got that many lightning spell levels and lightning on that sigil staff is absilutely bonkers thats an insanely good staff for a weapon swap like hooooly. I plan to do something similar with sorceress spellweaver when I reach maps, however the fact I have pathed quite differently in the tree nodes, does not leave that much of a leeway to get those exact curse tree nodes. Can still get some of them, just not all. Is recoup really that good from the tree even for spellweaver? I wonder. I kinda went more into ES and shield block nodes for the survivability.

If you have used all your skill points , you must respect 22 points.. Then select the a weapon group on right upper corner, use your talent points. Then select second other weapon group and do same thing again.

Thanks for much for explanation, I had no clue how to set this up. For builds like minions and swapping out my sceptre for a fire staff (for example when using flammability) would their power snap back to +4 gem level and update in realtime? The curse seems to ‘snapshot’ with what you’re saying but can it negatively impact your existing minions or maybe existing dots after swapping out?

I had this problem because I lost the attributes to use skill/support gems during weapon swap. Maybe u need to change some attribute nodes to make it work.

I’ve been trying to decide what to do with my weapon swap as a grenadier witch hunter. Was debating between hammer of the gods to take advantage of the instant stun and armor break from grenades, or something like flammability, but the travel distance for curses is pretty extreme. Currently scaling damaging ailments, aoe, ignite and fire pen alongside generic damage, and considering adding bleed since it’s cheap and should get some scaling from the ailment stuff and armor strip I’m already taking. Thoughts or ideas?

For sure. I was considering a hand of chayula swap for faster clears and being able to apply both the curse and a mark and a big poison hit, but overall it feels like a side grade over just scaling fire pen. That’s why I’m looking for ideas.

If you are using ignites you can perma 50% shock with Stormcaller arrow + pathing to Frazzled with the Stormfire support

Fair. Ideally I’m trying not to take a second bow. There’s some pretty crazy tech you could do with snipe and bleed as a swap or going full poison stacking instead of ignite.

@@subtractem you mentioned to on unallocate 24 skill points but didn’t mention how to tell how many weapon skill points you have in the first place. I think that is what got me. I unallocated 24 skill points and then began doing what you said and then realized I didn’t have the points to get back to how I had things before. I realize later that it shows a number to the right of the weapon set points. I may have taken it too literal. I also wasn’t fully comprehending that when you press the hot key for the curse that it automatically switches the weapon and reading the comments some others seem confused on that. When I rewatched it a few times then I totally understood. Overall, you’re a great teacher so I don’t mean any disrespect! Sometimes you gotta talk to us like the idiots we are :)

Still trying to figure out the whole weapon swap system on console. Do I need to save the books? I’ve been putting points into the “primary” tree and when I go to put points in trees 1 or 2 it’s not letting me. I tried inspecting from tree 1 then switch to tree 2 but still no points. It’s confusing and not that intuitive

on console it's just how its done in this video. Nothing is really different a weapon specific point is just a normal point that got split into 2 also you can't just use weapon set points and then use normal points after in the same line, otherwise it would create a gap in the tree when you switch that weapon out

Actualy no, the point still remain the same, but the diff is we can allocate it to be tied with weapon slot 1/2, hence diff uttility, the total amount of point remain the same

On your skills screen, hover over the course and select skill options, then uncheck weapon 1 and keep weapons 2 check. When you cast the curse, the weapon is swapped automatically, no need to manually swap. You can do this for all skills

I hate this weapon swapping stuff. In poe it was a very annoying thing that we had to do to min max some stuff but I don't think anyone really actually enjoyed doing it. So GGG was like " let's make this an actual intended part of the game in poe 2!!" 😂

Speak for yourself. I love the challenge of finding extra power through options. If you've ever played MTG imagine the cards like fire/ice that might be slightly weaker than full card ie. Fire is worse than Lightning Bolt, but in the right deck that extra option of doing something other than 3 pts of damage can be even better. Just have to cater to that which takes some thought. Maybe even a lot of thought. Thinking and challenges are good things.
