Great video of a clasic helicopter. It was nice to see so many images from Chile. In my country the BO105 served with the Carabineros national police, and later with the Air Force and Navy, plus civilian operators. Carabineros used it to rescue victims during the fire at the Torre Santa María, at the time Chile's tallest skyscraper, overloading it way over its certified capabilities. This helicopter saved many lives in my country in many rescue missions. It's rear clamshell doors made it easy lo load and unload stretchers with patients.

Here in Colombia we had two of these for the navy, the first ever naval helicopters ever operated by them, flying from the Almirante Padilla class frigates as recon aircraft, they served from the early 80's to 2021, with one turned as an interactive museum piece in our main aerospace museum near Bogota, and the other turned into a monument inside the main air naval base in my city of Barranquilla.

In case anyone is interested: There wasn't much coming from Germany's aviation industry after the Bo 105, because the main players in the industry became integrated with other European countries' aviation companies in order to stay competitive with huge players in the market like Boeing. So, no large-scale 'purely German' products anymore (still, innovative companies like _Grob Aircraft_ exist), but no Airbus and no Eurofighter without Germany!

My first helicopter i got really close to... About 30+ years ago there was an accident with a kid falling off the rolling gate cover of a underground garage. They called in a Bo-105 emergency response heli "christof xx" (cannot remember the designation, but its Christoph 9 these days). After landing with the rotor still spinning while sitting on a field right next to the road an ambulance drove past, right through the rotordisc. One blade caught the top-mounted ambulance lights and swept them clear of the roof. They ended up calling in another Bo-105 with engineers to check the blades and made a few tests... They sat on the field for hours, and we were allowed to take a closer look as long as we didnt touch anything :) Still remember the smell of kerosene burned when they both finally took off into the sunset. Hope miltech will eventually get it done in DCS... but thats not relevant to the video.

Thanks for a great video! I'd argue the MBB spirit lives on in the Airbus EC-125-145 helicopters. They're used by emergency services around the world, and have a superb fly-by-wire system, allowing them to land with minimal clearance to other obstacles.

@@asdasdasddgdgdfgdgEleven the latest AH145D3 (Airbus Helicopter, not Attack Helicopter) is still only grandfathered righted from the BK117. The designation the license is BK117D3, not AH145D3. The EC135/AH135 is actually the immediate follow up of the BO105. The „modern“ design was based on the design studies, the German professor of industrial design, Luigi Colani did for MBB. The f irst design prototype with the 135 „look“ cabin design still had the BO105 tail rotor. Just at that time, Germany and France decided to unite MBB and Aerospatiale (the name giver for the AS in the AS350 series) into Eurocopter, following the successful marriage of several German and French fixed wing plane companies into Airbus. Then, out of a political decision, the Fenestron was adapted from the AS 342 Gazelle onto the new Colani designed 105 creating the 135. The BK117 was already in development, featuring the same Titanium rotorhead and tailbone of the 105. Unfortunately, the re-designed EC145D, which uses more than 70% of the BK117D2 and therefore easily gained a altered CofA without the necessary long term testing etc, brought along the delete of the safety cell structure of the BK117… The EC145D2, the Fenestron variant was re-designated to AH145D2 after the merging of Airbus and Eurocopter into Airbus Helicopter. The AH145 D3 finally comes along with anew 5-blade rotorhead and the same (…) blade sock design as the blades on the 135 variants. The

You also have a point. But, our argument is based on the fact that the BK-117 is a German-Japanese joint helicopter. Besides, the EC135 and EC145 are Airbus Helicopters products, which makes them German-French helicopters rather than pure German ones.

When the aircraft made a 45 degree dive at those hanger doors and pulled up at the last minute 40 feet from them those sofas and armchairs were suddenly vacant. An impressive aircraft but the Qatari's went for the Lynx.
