One remarkable thing about Sweden it is a neutral country but having a very advanced arms industry, producing/exporting ones of the bests all round weapons/tanks/fighters/navy in the world. @JH-lo9ut2 жыл бұрын
"Neutrality" is sometimes confused with pacificm. It is not the same thing. When Sweden chose the path of non-alliance, they had to rely on domestic weapon systems and a domestic arms industry. As a country with faily low population, the army, navy and air forces have had to rely on supreme quality rather than quantity to match a potential aggressor. Besides this, Sweden, as a country with some of the world's richest deposits of iron ore, has been producing the highest quality steel for centuries. Swedish companies are among the world leading in many high-tech and engineering fields such as robotics, tele-communications and explosives.

I’ve been keeping track on the US Army’s program to replace the Bradley. To me, I think the CV90 would be the ideal “off the shelf” replacement IFV to the Bradley. Aside from being an IFV, the CV90 platform has various other variants that can be purchased along with the IFV setup. Dual 120mm mortar would be a great capability not currently in the US military inventory.

For people wonder which variant(s) Sweden will send to Ukraine. This haven't been very clearly specified yet. That could depend on that they don't want to specify or that the delivery package isn't completely set yet. The MoD said that it will be vehicles used in international missions. This would imply the 9040C variant, which is the most advanced Swedish version with the heaviest layer of protection. Would be great! There is also the option to send some of the other variants in the pakage, like the 9040LVKV(anti-air) and probably they will send a number of the recovery variant. I think we have somewhere around 200 CV90's that is not being used in the current defence organisation so hopefully, these first 50 will be followed on by many more! And then ofcourse we have all the other CV90 user countries. Some of them have shown quite the will to send equipment to Ukraine so I'm counting on them to, we could end up with hundreds of CV90's in Ukraine. They will probably have to work double as IFV's and recovery vehicles to pull all the bogged down Bradley's out of the mud soup..... :P

I'd like to see this with a 50mm cannon! Also, does anyone know if this vehicle has amphibious mobility? Is it air droppable?
@znail46752 жыл бұрын
The 40mm cannon uses extra long ammunition so is pretty close in performance to a 50mm gun.
@qvintuse.urvind7002 Жыл бұрын
With preparation it is amphibious, but similarly to the Bradley M2/M3, it weighs over 20 tons and cannot, as far as I know, be air dropped.
@kankerbende Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can always drop it !!! Bud if it works after that is the big question ?!!! 😂😂
@LLiivveeeevviiLL Жыл бұрын
It depends on the turret. It is as simple that long rounds demand more space. But there are 120 mm prototypes CV90120, basically light tanks without infantry compartment, once again due to ammo taking space. It has not been airdropped but a Globemaster C-17 can take 3 of them in a lift.

I still think it's ironic. Sweden. One of the countries that has never fought since the early 1600's in a country on country senario is now making some of the finest and best weapon systems, weapons and artillery, Infantry naval transports and apparently tanks? yet we've never truely been in a war for decades, Yet seem to have mastered the ability to create weapons more lethal then most countries. I think sweden is just a sleeping giant when it comes to war.

Sweden has always been able to produce smart and practical weapons sinch forever. Their history is full of it, from leather canons to sail ship guns. A dane would know his history on the matter, we fought them for 600 years.

I really wish we (the Swedish government) would send 200 of the Cv 90 to the Ukraines. Would make a big difference in the war against the orchs from the east.
@korbendallas13072 жыл бұрын
Send 200 CV90 to whom? Who is going to operate these vehicles? It’s not like sending a regular car to people who have experience with a regular vehicle. Then take that to go grocery shopping. It takes months and months of training the crew . Then you need to train the crew to train with other crews of that same vehicle type to become proficient in combat. So even more months will pass before the crews will be ready. Sending these vehicle to become scrap metal is just dumb.
@jimmylarsson5667 Жыл бұрын
@@korbendallas1307 2-3 months will do for education. Swedish government have now decided to send 50. CV 90. They will give the ruzzkies a real bad surprise, mind my word.

@@TB-zf7we The CV90 versions fitted with mine protection seats have height restriction for crew and dismounts aswell. Mine protection seats require space above the soldiers head to work properly. Now, how strictly these rules are enforced is up to the respective Armed Forces.
