The hunting horn saying 'secrets of the cosmos' plus the gold plate, I think it might be a reference to the voyager probe and its golden record. The plate contained a bunch of math stuff in case of aliens finding it.

I can't help but think these weapons were probably made for developer testing and debugging and whatnot. But the fact they explicitly barred you from taking them on quests leads me to believe that Capcom knew full well people would try to get ahold of them regardless but didn't feel like banning people left and right. So it feels like a mix of ultra-secret datamine lore and dev debug kit, it's honestly quite cool.

The "Dos Exile" kinda freaks me out for a reason no one would know without a little story. A while back I was looking through Mods for MHW when I found a skin mod for the Gogmazios Greatsword "Monument of Lament". It is a BEAUTIFULY made mod with custom fx layered on top of Shara Ishvalda's Greatsword and I basically set my goal in my new playthrough of World from scratch, to get that weapon. To EARN that weapon. I was making lore for my character along the way. Having started with MH4U, I took my character from that and based the story off him with some twist. I was weaving in other content I love and obvious headcannons that weren't true, but were realistic enough to sound true (It was lore just for me so it only ever had to be "good enough"). Oceaniz's MH Ecology - Forbidden Episode was a HUGE inspiration at the time. I left to hunt Gogmazios and it disappeared, but so did I. While everyone praised and mourned me, the guild knew. I had done nothing and yet by a stroke of luck Gogmazios was gone. I was too afraid to anything, and so I was exhiled and on the run. This pretty much plays on the fact that despite my few hundred hours on the game, I've never actually beaten MH4U. I've reached G Rank, but nothing more. I felt that I didn't deserve that Gogmazios weapon even if it was just a skin. That MHWorld playthrough was like a redemption for myself. I still feel like I need to go back and earn it in MH4U, and maybe one day I will. I just think its kinda odd how things lined up. "Exhile", "fabled warrior", the gogmazios weapon model, the ambiguous nature of the sword's true form vs the truth behind my character. I know that this is kinda corny, but this is just something I wanted to share. A personal MH story/experience. "The best stories are the ones that we find for ourselves." - Tomkon

Honestly I find it really cool that the devs bothered to add unique descriptions for each weapon which also got translated. They probably got localized simply due to them being on the same table/list as the other weapons, but it unintentionally adds to the "forbidden" feeling within the in-game lore itself. It's like we're getting bits of extra lore from the ancient civilizations that left the Tower and the ruins all over the old world.

The one single thing I loved the most about monster hunter 4 uilmate are the intro cutscene for monsters seeing your! Character interact with the world is so immersive and cool plus! My headcanon for a lot of the forbidden weapons that refer to hunters using or interacting with them in their flavor text is that the weapons did exist in the setting, but were the signature weapons of hunters who have since been unpersoned by the Guild due to going rogue. That would also provide an in-universe reason why you're forbidden to take them on most quests.

The thing that filters out these from usable weapons for quests is not the weapon files themselves, its an abnormal true attack or awakened element. The "forbidden" weapons have either 420 true attack or an absurd amount of awakened element. the game is able to detect this and limit admission onto quests. the reason it is the actual values and not the weapons themselves can be proved with taking relics with modified "abnormal" stats and being given the same message. there are some unique characteristics when it comes to certain limits on displayed raw. 420 true attack is the highest that will ever show on your stat screen, you could mod in a 3000+ (550+ true) damage switch axe relic and when you equip it, it will tell you that you have 2268 attack on your stat screen (which is 420 and the same as the "forbidden" shah bloodseeker). it might also be worth noting that every weapon thats in the game naturally is a multiple of 10 true attack, thats why there is always at least 14 damage gap between two different damage sword&shields or 54 damage for switch axes etc... this is notable for this scenario as many true attacks that are not a multiple of 10 will get barred from quests, just like these weapons in the video. there are supposedly some irregularities with this as i found a 2019 discord message of myself claiming that trying 2 true and 22 true lead me to get that same message, but i was allowed to take 2.66666667... raw without any issues. unfortunately i didnt look into it enough to confirm whether or not it is ACTUALLY true. If you noticed how i said specifically *awakened* element, this is actually because if your element is locked/unawakened it bypasses the weapon restrictions. if i took a pair of dual blades that have 26,000 awakened element, they would not be allowed on a quest. HOWEVER if it was 26k locked element it can slip through undetected EVEN IF you use the awaken or enlightened blade skills meaning you can actually take these weapons in any quest and melt monsters without any problems. if you have played a great deal of mh4u online you might be familiar with a similar concept available to power-savers, however they are able to do this only with abnormal status effects, you might see someone with infinite para lock the monster down forever, or put them in a sleep loop, or even proc a blast with every attack. and while that is strong, it doesnt really stand up to the element versions that kill most monsters in a couple seconds. you might read this and think "thats broken why would you ever do that" but uhhh 1. while i did make these weapons when editing the game, i made sure to not use them in any way that could ruin my experience with the game (and the fact i was hr999 with every armor/weapon i ever actually wanted at that point) and 2. NONE of this actually matters when there are cheat plugins that people can use with custom firmware that can just set monster hp to 1 for a guaranteed insta-kill. There is quite a lot more interesting things ive found while playing around with save editors on mh4u, i could talk about them a bit but i think ive rambled on a bit too much already about meaningless things in this game, and i apologise to anyone who actually took time to read all of this.

You pronounced the weapon names correctly which was a delight to hear. I probably wouldn't be able to pronounce the French in the Shagaru Magala weapons very well, but you did great. The German in the Gore Magala weapons is much easier for me but but you've done a lot better. Dunno, just something I found pretty neat. Morgenröte means "dawn," lit. "morning redness." Since the weapon's name is Fallen Morgenröte, it is probably a reference to Lucifer, as Lucifer is also the name of the morning star, and Lucifer the Biblical figure is of course a fallen angel. Fun fact, "morning star" in German is "Morgenstern." (I have a dragon character with that name, and he's inspired partly by Fatalis)

Back in your video on Tri's forbidden weapons, I said that those weapons were mostly for early to mid-G-Rank. Also the SnS should be much higher on the list. Especially the dragon element one. I'd probably never take it off if there was a legit way to get it. Unless I felt bad for the monsters dying too quick. There's no real downside to them, Raw being the most important Stat 99% of the time in 4U. Unlike the gimmicky weapons losing their gimmick, lvl kinsects and gunlance shells and crappy songs: SnS strength is limited only by how much time the user wants to spend preparing for battle. In 4U Especially the SnS ability to use items without sheathing was incredibly powerful. If you haven't seen it before, look up 4U style bombing videos.

Appreciate you putting in the time to make videos about MH3U and 4U cut content. It's obvious you put in a lot of time making these videos. I do have a problem with the framing though, as it's a little on the sensational end. Most of this information was relatively well-circulated among forums like reddit/GameFaqs (which is where I'd credit most of the datamines/discovery of mh4u cut content) and even if there's never been official word on what their intended purpose is, there's no need for all the open-ended questions/speculation. As many in the comments have already noted, the 'forbidden weapons' were most likely used for developer testing. And their descriptions were localized because there was nothing in the text files flagging them as cut content. The reason you can't use them outside of expeditions is because using save editors/action replay to cheat or host unreleased content was already common practice in certain areas of the community. Devs were certainly aware of this, since other content like the Ms MH Puppet weapons were flagged to be unusable in multiplayer at launch.
@flyann2 Жыл бұрын
I think that's some fair criticism. Honestly the framing is in part of playing into the coolness of the concept of these weapons existing in the first place. That being said, sometimes researching something like this, I don't have access to information that was readily known back in the day, so I just try my best to contextualize everything to my existing knowledge coupled with what I can find. I can understand that not being 100% correct on every aspect is not ideal for everyone, but I try my best to give out accurate information to the best of my ability as well as have these videos be something actually interesting to watch and engage with for both new and old hunters. Ultimately I'm just one person working on these videos, but I will try my best to improve.
@Dumb_Witch Жыл бұрын
Just wanted to make sure you know I really do like the video. I'd never personally taken the time to read all of the item descriptions myself, so it was a great watch. I understand the impulse to mystify the presentation and add a little extra flair because you might be worries it's not interesting/engaging enough, but there's plenty of people who'd appreciate the complete picture. Even if this stuff was kind of well-known trivia on the forums 8-10 years ago, it's starting to become "lost media" of a sort. I'm sure there's a ton of new/veteran players who'd never heard of this stuff before and would still find it super interesting in its full context.

I would hazard a guess that these weapons were used as test weapons by the devs to help balance the weapon upgrade system to monster health pools. Or, in the case of Dancing Mad, unused references to other non-Mh titles that didn’t receive a special quest to unlock them and were repurposed for testing. Or they’re just dev toys that they used to have fun in the game while still under development

Probably late saying this, but Awaritia seems like an alternate spelling of Avaritia, or greed in Latin I believe. It survives as "avaricia", meaning avarice, or greed, in Spanish. I believe it refers specifically to monetary greed, but I'm not sure. If you pronounce the w as a v, which a few languages do, and the t as a sh sound, which flyann 2 themselves do, you get a pretty close iteration to the latin word. It's almost like a fictional way of saying avarice in German lol, which is "gier" by the way.

Boomer/nostalgia/gatekeeping idc what you call it, MH4U was the best MH I’ve ever played and the one I put the most time in. Two new weapon types, online non local multiplayer on handheld, new mechanics, amazing flagship monster. Here’s to hoping Wild can top my expectations.

There are also hidden gems that exists in mh4u which gives you the points toward the dual armor skills like 'edgemaster'. However, you were able to take those online last time I played with it.

The only thing i could think of during its segment was that the Hell Phalanx looks like a pineapple.

The way you talk about Expeditions in 4 makes it sound like its exclusive to 4 when it was carried over to every game that came out after it

To this day I joke about Grongigas hammer looking like a testicle tied to a bone yet it's quite powerful 😂
