As always, your demo was so helpful - I had no idea how to manage the crossed warp threads at the back. What simple solutions to reduce my aggravation! Thank you! I enjoyed watching you weave and listening to you. Your joyous chuckles make me smile. Thanks for sharing it with us!

I have been marathoning your videos repeatedly, you are so soothing, and I learned something new every repeat. I have always been quite not so much envious, but I aspire to having the salvages look as good as yours do in the fabric roll on the front being. It’s really quite remarkable, turns out the time I got close, I was doing the pinch and stretch myself. It’s quite effective. You still have to leave that slant, but it helps that slant get used up where it’s needed. I am currently planning to do two projects, one is going to be a long gradient cake skirt. It’s gonna be made out of sultan shadow from hobbii. It’s that forest cotton where they change one strand at a time to get the color gradient. I’m also looking at doing a mixed thread warp in assorted dark purples, kind of like your dark bluejacket, but looking to do something that’s either a top or skater dress like. For now, I’ll just weave yardage, but I will troll through your patterns to see comparative yardage, different length and sleeve garments. I figure if I set myself up to weave 200 inches of fabric, I’ll be covered, always find a way to use extra purple fabric. You are a constant source of inspiration, and adorably cheer-leader-esque in the best way. You make all of this feel possible. It makes me so happy that some of your patterns are about include my size. Thank you.

Thank you Sarah! Im planning a simple jacket fabric with accumulated handspun wool from the last decade, and this was exactly what i needed to know to feel confident enough to go for it!😂 I love the trick of the stick at the back to keep the warp threads from sticking, and ill be passing that along to my guild friends. Your knowledge and helpful tips keep going like ripples in a pond. Thank you!

Hi Sarah. I love watching your videos and listening to your no nonsense commentary and common sense practical tips. Inspired by you I have just started my weaving journey and am loving it so far. You mentioned that towards the end the edges can get a bit loose - which I noticed on my first 2 tries. Perhaps you can share please how to resolve or prevent this? Many thanks and I look forward to many more of your videos.

When I'm winding the warp onto the back roller I avoid touching the warps at the back, and when I tie onto the front I tie the edges last. Also as I put the weft through I'm careful to not lean the shuttle on the edge warps, doing that repeatedly can stretch them. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos, more in the pipeline. The next one is I'm not a sewer - what can I make?

Watching you weave communicates a goodly amount of information - thanks so much! I do have a question; I would like to make a poncho/ruana type thing. I have knitting yarn for the weft, but I'm trying to decide on the warp. I was thinking cot/lin, but would that be too "hard" compared to the weft?
@getweaving8459
@getweaving8459 Жыл бұрын
No, I think that would be ok, I often use a cotton warp and wool weft, I like that. Do your wraps to check the sett, make a little sample too to see how it feels. Happy weaving 👍

Hi, Sarah: Beautiful towels! How do I get on your Christmas list? ;) I've really enjoyed your videos. I have a 15" (38cm) rigid heddle loom, and recently bought an old counterbalance loom that I think will have a 40" (102cm) maximum width. (It's odd because the reed is 45" but the warp- and cloth-beams are not as wide.) Keep up the good work. I like your tips and tricks but also seeing your beautiful fabric! ~Mike (on the Left Coast of the USA)

Hi Mike 👋, glad you're enjoying the videos, I have more in the pipeline. I love this way of teaching, much more useful than running a workshop for 20 people, I've learnt a lot from KZbin too, like how to use a warping mill! I have floor looms too, but I use my rigid heddle looms far more because they're so quick to set up, and I'm always trying to cram as much as possible into 1 day. Happy weaving, enjoy your looms ☺️👍

How well do the fringed towels hold up to regular use and washing with just a line of machine stitching to hold the edge? I’ve only just started weaving and I’m nervous that everything will unravel.

@treewytch I've never had a problem with that. If you're worried put them in a net bag so they're slightly protected.
