I know you don't really go into detail on preshow match, but I think you should address the Rattlesnake in the room with SummerSlam 1996, as Steve Austin was the only King of the Ring winner during the PPV era (1993-2002) to not have a match on the main card.

The 2001 King of the Ring tournament is pretty interesting since it has a narrative of Kurt Angle trying to score another King of the Ring trophy while dealing with Shane McMahon’s BS while Edge, Christian and Rhyno are featured on the tournament prominently with either one of them along with Angle who’s already established being groomed to make it to the big time with Edge eventually getting the nod but it would take a couple of years, a radical character shift, a magic briefcase and a scandal involving his BFF and his BFF’s girlfriend before Edge gets elevated as the next top act.

One thing that I said during the watchalong of this ppv with GoodMicWork that I stand by is that Bull Buchanan was somewhat underrated. He had the size, but he was agile like a light heavyweight. He was Keith Lee before Keith Lee was cool.

1. Quarters/Semis/Finals for the KOTR Tournament on PPV 2. If it had to be a multi-man match yes; but would have rather them just do HHH/Rock in a Steel Cage or something instead of the Six Man Tag

Save for this ppv i remember after WM the WWF were on a hot streak for great PPVs (i forget if this was prior to Judgment Day and Fully Loaded being right after KOTR at the time of this comment). I get how stacked the roster was but I'm not sure if having 16 people for the KOTR on PPV was a great idea in hindsight. This ppv just felt like filler to me. My favorite KOTR winner? Roll a d4 for either Bret, Owen, Austin, or Angle. Who wins in that decision? Wrestling history and the fans (seriously, I can't choose without a d4 since I flip between those 4). Just 1 question. Could you have found a way for the dudleyz to win against DX and then do a post-match powerbomb with Tori through the table instead of doing the handicap match and DX winning? I get the story, I just think there was a better way to still get the result wanted.

The final four should've been Eddie Guerrero vs kurt angle and Chris Jericho vs Chris Benoit and they could've still had kurt angle win the whole tournament instead of how they did the final four but that's just me.

This show is one of those shows that was meh to ok at best. With all due respect to Pat Patterson and Gerald Briscoe, if they were trying to get some ha-ha's with their match, it didn't work. The 6 man tag team main event for the WWF title was one of the messiest main events ever. Much like WrestleMania 2000, it should have been The Rock vs Triple H.
