Which oh wow the guy with years in the car is faster than someone dragged in last minute. Doesn't really tell us anything). Rather than risk Lawson, Yuki and DR doing worse they kept with the devil they knew while testing the others. There's also the benefit of his cash and his knowledge. Before RB Perez was seen as Mr Adaptable, his failures, the failures of Albon and Gasly as well as everyone in the team finally admitting if you're not Max you can't drive the car. They'd rather use Checo's experience to help develop a more rounded car than sacrifice a rookies career who provides no real useful feedback (or in the case of DR someone else who can only drive a very certain type of car which is the opposite of Max's preferred set up). It has worked so far, RB have traced their current fall off in pace and inability to upgrade the car further to a development they made over a year ago, a development Sergio at the time said would cause these very problems but they ignored. He might not be performing, but there's no guarantee anyone else available will. At least with him in the seat they get some cash, he can help them develop a car that may allow others to perform and they get to scapegoat him for issues that began to form in the team before DR joined Renault.

Then beated Ocon in 2017 and 2018, finished 4th in the standings in 2020 beating Alexander Albon (the second Red Bull driver at that time) and did a phenomenal job as a second driver in 2021 with Red Bull. And im not even mentioning all the podiums he got with midfield cars, he is a very talented driver, not in the same league as Max, Alonso or Lewis but he proved multiple times his big talent. Thats the reason his last 2 seasons have been so disappointing, because everyone including the team and himself knows what he is capable of and he has not managed to get his confidence back, which is a shame but is just another fact of why F1 is the toughest motorsport category on the planet.

I'm sorry but Perez does not deserve that seat anymore. He did in the past, but not anymore. His downward spiral of under-performances has been going on for years and this year he is the reason why Red Bull not only lost the WCC but ended up 3rd. Checo has tainted nerves for F1. Once you start over-thinking and under-performing over and over again, it forever ruins your pace confidence. Lawson might be jumpy at the moment, but he is more fearless than Checo on the track. That's the only way anyone will extract the pace and be able to compete against Max.

It is kind of sad to see what has happened to a once very good driver. It’s like when a great hitter just can’t seem to get on base anymore. Sometimes the magic just disappears and you can’t get it back. There is know way Perez will be in that seat next year unfortunately.

The kicker is Perez's performance problems in the Red Bull has been going on for so long it looked like Ricciardo would take his F1 seat to Ricciardo being kicked out to make way for Lawson who's now looking to replace Perez instead. Ricciardo got kicked out for less of a performance problem compared to the other driver compared to how badly Perez has been to where Max is.
@procatprocat9647Күн бұрын
Senior drivers deserve no more respect than junior F1 drivers. They're all doing the same job and there's no hierarchy on the race track by age. Any other approach would be predjudiced against age. Its shocking to hear drivers misunderstanding such basic employment and sporting rules. The pay and marketing bs has clearly gone to their heads.

I actually watched the onboard for that lap with the middle finger thereafter. Perez was definitely holding Lawson back. Going extra slow in the slow corners (kinda like Abu Dhabi 21) so he was trying to ruin Lawson's race as his was already over having pitted for Mediums much earlier. I don't see how Perez keeps his seat after this. Losing to a VCARB in a Red Bull.

Getting Tsunoda is basically just a Faster and More eager Perez Keeping Perez is just a mistake And Getting Lawson is just an inexperienced driver who is quick but Has anger issues when there is contact involving him Ricciardo is just a more reliable and better Perez My Choice would be between Ricciardo and Lawson That is my bet rn
