Just to clarify the “Hibachi theme”, it’s not because Arenas loves to eat there. It is his nickname because he’s cooking players in front of everybody…just like at Hibachi. A lil extra info: one of his teammates actually said that on the bench about an opposing playing who was cooking their team at the time. Gilbert loved it and ran with it.

I had the team USA colorway, very stable shoe specially on the mid to forefoot. Slight heel slip and cushioning is very firm, that’s why I wore them mostly casually. Came out in tons of colorway, Arenas at that time was very popular because he was one of the few player that can score on anyone. Even went toe to toe with a Kobe. Funny person also.

I had these when they came out in 2006. THEY ROCK!! I'm a post player (PF) & they were perfect with support. That outrigger was the TRUTH!! They are my all-time 2nd favorite hoops shoe.(Jordan 9). They really solidified Adidas as my choice BB shoe. FYI, I'm 50 so I've hooped in PLENTY of kicks.

Thansk for the great insights. Just bagged them and wore them 3x this past week. BEST KICKS IVE EVER WORN. After your review I was nervous cause I didn’t think they would be high performance. A few notes, when I first put them on they felt really comfortable in multiple but after I ran I started to feel the low top collar digging into my ankle. However after the second and third time that seem to resolve itself and it molds a lot better to my ankle. i’m a high motor slash and dash guard so I put a lot of stress on lateral movements and I can tell you that I’ve never felt so comfortable and quick on my feet and a pair of shoes. I’m seriously gonna buy a second and third pair just so I can have some in my stock. I usually burn through two pairs a year and I want to keep these on my feet for a while.

my dad gave me the home wizards pair for my bday back in 2006 and that was the first time i enjoyed playing in a low top. i wore that until the outsole fell off after 4 years. i also had the tmac 6 black lows with the same formotion outsole tech. i loved them both until they broke in 2010 to 2011. glad they brought this one back. will wait for the home cw to bring memories back. lol

Cool video, yeah, these were rumored to release months ago, and nothing happened. I had the USA and UNDRCRWN colorways back in 2006, they were a nice shoe to walk around in, and they were decent to play in. I loved the midfoot stability on the original, I hope that the new one has that. Thanks for another entertaining video and for letting people know where these can be found.

Hi Chris, I owned these back in 06 these were indeed the first low top signature shoe ever released. Also I remember the marketing, the three stripes were out there because Gilbert ran on the lateral side of his feet apparently.

It’s Hibachi because he would heat up like one. Puma Clyde’s were the first lows. Also, Gil loved to wear the low shell toe adidas when playing. The traction from what I can remember is amazing.

Gil christened his right arm the hibachi, because once he started getting hot those defenders were gettin cooked. It became his nickname, and he even had a celebration, kinda like Darius Miles and Q. Rich when the "knuckle head" move. He'd hit a shot, and turn his piping hot palms up as if he was grilling food in them. That guy was a character.

In the 80s, high top and ultra high top (think about the moon boots of Magic in 88) except for a very few players in low top (Pippen, Drexler and Chambers).
