I have to admit that I kind of love what Nike / Converse are doing, because we don't have Kobe anymore, and it's a way to still have some great products but with something a little different, something that is out of the ordinary

I would love to see Converse redevelop more of the old shoe technology. I would say the same for Reebok but they have been bought from Adidas. Hopefully we can get a line of Iverson Answer X in some different color ways and possibly new tech in the shoe.

You're 100% right Chris lol. I love having shoes from all different brands and appreciating their uniqueness, I don't want Nike tech in all my shoes, especially seeing as I'm from the city where Converse was founded and had been waiting for them to make a return to performance basketball

Jordan Brand seems to have a distinct design language that keeps them from being similar to Nikes despite using a lot of Nike tech. The Converse shoes lately seem to be old Nikes with a different logo slapped on. I think if Converse uses Nike tech to expand (i.e. Chuck Taylor React or Zoom EVO) then it would please sneaker fans to a greater degree

You hit the nail on the head with this one. Converse with REACT I owned 3 pairs of those in the 90s they should be revived with updated tech instead of being folded in and diluted by Nike.

It’s interesting you say one of the previous Converse models was pretty much a Kobe because that’s the vibe I get looking at these. Is that how Nike is going to get around to making Kobe shoes without calling them Kobes or giving Kobe’s estate any return? By remaking them as Converse? Will Converse become Nike’s covert Kobe shoe? Maybe that’s why we can’t get them here. They want to limit the exposure while still giving the market an opportunity to react to them. This could get interesting.

I agree with Chris on most of this, I had the Run and Slam low back in the day (react juice) and they were awesome. Surely they can throw some cash at R & D and recreate it. The 90's stuff from Cons was awesome, including LJ's signature shoes.

Absolutely. In the 90s they had very good models of sneakers but they were too many eclipsed by the Air Jordan

I feel like the first couple models with the drop-in react midsoles made sense as Converse shoes because they were minimalist and Chucks are minimalist so the lineage made sense. I agree they've kinda lost that connection to Converse's heritage with the last couple models.

Even if converse used the remnants of old, discarded Nike tech like lunaron foam and called it something else, it would do converse wonders to develop their own identity in the public despite still being owned by Nike. Like Pixar & Disney

I’m just happy Converse is making new shoes both basketball and lifestyle due to it being one of my favorite shoe brand. Also I’m not mad at Nike basically taking over the basketball performance due to it being cheaper and Nike did buy them out so why not treat them as a “Nike Brand” company. I say they’re keeping the Converse brand to the lifestyle shoes due to them having their own cushion in CX foam (which IMO is a bit softer and less “reactive” than Nike React).

Got invited to the release of this pair in Shanghai. Best converse pair to release. low to the ground, good court feel and comfort. if people can overlook the brand (let's be honest people) these will be a good court performer.

I had the Larry Johnson Cons React (white Charlotte Hornets colorway) back in the day - the one with the straps. I used it outdoors and it burned through the outsole and through the React juice's unit haha. it leaked all the way through, but was still wearable/playable. I also had the black cons react with the white stripe on the midsole (I think Kevin Johnson wore that) - it had a harder/tougher React juice container and I was not able to puncture the unit haha. trashed both pairs, loved playing in them. :D

Just got the Las Vegas color way, which reminds me of what the Kobe 8, definitely have the kobe 8 vibe in it but not as comfortable, I wear kobe elite socks with it and I feel good on court, well, $40 bucks from Ross for these is such a steal no doubt 😆

Converse has a great history but it was never a technology company. Even at their prime during the 80s, Avia, Nike, New Balance and Saucony were offering more technology. Converse was on top of the mountain because of the fit, the quality and a relative fair price. They should continue to elaborate around their visual identity (using the chevron is really good) and to propose the best technology possible but at a fair price (with maybe less innovation than Nike or JB). Somehow, Converse is offering what is the closest possible to Kobe line

I was waiting for the bb series to resurrect like those jointz dwad3 was wearing i wanted some jointz like Dr. J to match my og doc 76erz and netz jerseyz in white n royal, blk n royal, and royal n white, maybe maroon n white for my UMass doc jersey I liked the old style best I think they shoulda just retroed the old dwad3 era jointz I like that they looked like the og Dr. Jz which were my all time favz look wise bcuz doc wore em and they were clean af comfort wise I prefer the blazer and it reminds me of the white shadow og style a bit more but doc is still my all time fav.... I wish they would just do a boost type insole on them but kept the og style with a bigger star and chevron like those that came out in the dwad3 dayz I was mad I missed out even tho after dwad3 dislocated rondos elbow in the playoffs I hated him plus all the nut and but grabbing he did I am cool on him.... but I still luv the og docz and those og dwad3 jointz.... converse needs to drop more og models that look the same but with new tech like boost or react or react Juice lol like Chris was talking about I always wanted the grand mamaz but always miss out....

I used to own a CONS React Juice Larry Johnson signature. Juice is seen on the lateral side of the heel. They were too heavy.

Yeah the branding thing is kinda weird what most smart companies do is keep the sister brand’s identity making it as distinguished as possible with improvements, that way die hard fans and people that want something different from Nike would buy them however obviously Nike still make a profit.
