You are making progress. I am sorry that you cannot help help August. It is painful. My sister died young. She had a house, she had medicare, and no one could really help her. I have cried many many tears. The human heart expands to be able to hold pain and joy. We do have to help and feed each other but not to create our own victimhood. There will be times where you may be able to help. I have said it before. " The kingdom of heaven is within. " The only real help can come from that place.🙏 When you 're tired, don't stop but do get yourself a place to where you can rest.

Community is definitely key! I don’t think you are wrong to help your friend. She’s your friend, and so long as SHE is not abusing you, you are doing the right thing to link arms with her and walk down the path together. You’re more likely to be victimized when you don’t have someone to have your back. And I fully agree with you that predators can smell the carcass. They seek you out, and they know when you’ve been victimized, and they know nobody has helped you, and that they’ll get away with it. I wish we could change that.

Bless you. Although its painful to acknowledge, remember that there is a limit to what you can do by yourself. Most times in such heart braking situations, all we can offer at the end is our honest willingness and support. Its painful, but sometimes all we can do is to be there for them even though change is out of our reach or still far away. We try our best, and sometimes thats all we can do. Its not giving up. Its being there with honesty.

If you had a Patreon or other means for us to offer $, I know you would bless so many others with what is received. Saige, I wish someone would put you in charge of a program to help the unhoused as I know you would know what is needed, set the correct priorities, get people onto the correct paths. I'm sure you would in many ways be figuring things out as you go, but your understanding and experience with the situation would put your understanding at a much higher level than most of those who's hearts are in the right place. You have earned a PhD on your journey, a PhD in helping others. You are doing so well with your mental health, this shows you have more resilience than the average person. You and your friends are in my prayers. Gratitude to you for allowing me to be a part of your journey out of homelessness. But you are not God, Saige and he put you near August for a while to show her other life options that she will remember one day: when she'll be ready, which you really must accept since you cannot change people. You can care, share, love and give and when their heart and soul are ready, they'll get on the road of recovery and you'll hear about them again. So, be filled with joy to have been able to care and understand this very principle for the rest of your life: give what you can in each encounter and let the recipient accept and soak it in if they want to, all with love and care. Maybe you're hurt because you thought you had found a road companion you could walk with and she has deserted you and you are struggling alone again. But, as one knows later, it is, most of the time, for the good reason that you are alone again, it's because you can make it and go the steps you have to go rather alone now than with August who is so far away from recovery. She'll probably join one day, when and if she wants and remember your kindness, don't worry. Feel empowered that you could and still can give so much love and care though you have so little in terms of materials things. That shows you all you are still able to tackle despite of dire srtraits. So take that lesson with you for the way ahead of you.

You don't have to if you dont want but I think maybe I'm not the only one who wonders. To the one who made the drowning analogy. If you saw someone fell on the cliff and she needs help. Would you abandon her? If you're in a scenario that you need to risk your life and there is no other way around, Isn't it a personal choice on what to do I know you mean well but you're being judgemental.
@tabithaedwards7453 жыл бұрын
Sorry it's not being judgemental. She has major issues that she will continue on the spiral out of control. It's been 10 yrs of her doing it her way. Tough love is what it takes for some. I still don't see her getting the help bc she's codependent on each person that comes into her life. Praying that away isn't gonna help.
@spaceman99463 жыл бұрын
@@tabithaedwards745 Like she would go out on that situation by only thinking of herself. Remember, She did even forget about August but did she found a home? Why is it judgemental? Because that thinking is extremely superficial plus that analogy is incredibly scratched and over used. It sounds like a smart advice but it really isn't. This may sound cheesy but Ma'am Saige really needs a friend and August is important to her. What does it do? It can just help her depression. More than shelter and everything else. Love might even stand tall above those. What if you really found a hone and you remember that you've abandoned a friend and is killed by people who took advantage of her and you could do something to save her but you didn't?

@mari-at-wiredlikeme87283 жыл бұрын
Being assaulted will not send her to hell and the reactions people will have to experiencing such horrors include hiding, yes they often feel shame, guilt, etc. partly because it is so difficult to process correctly what happened. I wouldn't let a friend go in this situation if there was the littlest thing I could do to help.
@8ofwands3003 жыл бұрын
@@mari-at-wiredlikeme8728 okay. But August also sounds self- destructive, which can be a by-product of shame and trauma. We really don't know her story. To me, it seems clear she doesn't want to be found by Saige. I get it. You want to help. But at some point, August has to make her own decisions. Homeless or not, she has autonomy and I think that needs to be respected. " Help" can border on harassment. Depends on one's perspective. Sorry if you disagree. Sorry that you are so sad Saige. I understand that you want to help August, and i understand how hard it is for you to not try to help. But the reality is that you cannot do this alone, you need help in helping her - because it is going to drag you down and destroy you (as it is currently doing - you are putting all your energy into trying to help her and have nothing left to take care of yourself with). Is there not someone/s that can help you to help her? If not the organisations that are supposed to be helping the homeless people, is there someone, yes just at least one other person, that can help you help her? You cannot do this alone!! August needs to get off the streets and she needs psychological therapy and counselling - but you cannot provide that for her. You need help in doing this.... you need other/s to "link arms" with you..... you can not be a "community of one". Even Jesus had disciples that helped him. ♡♡♡

According to the propaganda, "victim" is a class, and a kind of selfish person, trying to take advantage of the pity of others. "Being a victim" is considered a shameful thing. But that's not true. A victim is a person who has been victimized, in some way, plain and simple. God does not want us to abandon victims to a lie like that. In all the examples of victimization in the Bible, God is very angry, and shows that His intent is to vindicate the victims of others' cruelty, greed and wickedness. No way is God against victims, or ashamed of them. And if the devil is "the prince of this world", according to Jesus, and "the god of this world", according to Paul, a world that treats the devil like it's leader and God, is not going to suddenly be full of kindness and justice, as if they really meant it. They act like they are, sometimes, but no, it's not the kind of thing that's going to be there for us when we are in need. I am heartsick and tired, too. We need to look to Jesus. I wish we all could get to the place where we had that modest, middle-class American Dream we were raised to expect, that seems so reasonable and fair, and that we could do it in freedom and peace, inside and out. I just don't think that's the world. Actually, the cruel who laugh, now, really do have it worse that those of us who have turned to Jesus for salvation, even when our emotions are so often torn up about it. When we are in that pit, our Shepherd is seeking us out, to rescue us out of it. The ones who worship materialism and evil, see the world turning, before their very eyes, into the world that worships the Beast, and persecutes the ones who won't, and most of all, won't give up Jesus, and they think that's progress, and scoff at the Bible's warning. They not only don't care that they're doing what the Bible says the people of the last days do, but also don't care that they're doing what the Nazis did: rejecting God in favor of pagan gods and sci-fi ideation, and like the Nazis, they're getting increasingly crueler and more murderous, and willing to laugh triumphantly about it, too. They reserve the right to Satanic "schadenfreude", just like the Nazis. More and more, the world is Antichrist-positive, though here and there, there are people turning to Jesus, unafraid to say they believe in Him: former New Agers and atheists, for goodness sake! Intelligent, teenage, former New Agers, bold for Jesus's name, and His salvation! Beautiful brethren, new to the faith. That's a beautiful thing to see. Jesus does draw all men, as He said, desiring all to be saved, and see, some of them compare the conviction of the Holy Spirit to the cruel evil that controls the world, and they know that what Jesus gives is vastly worth whatever the world may temporarily exact from us. It is not a lie: we ARE weak; He IS strong. HIS joy is our strength, not our own, and HIS joy is not happy-happy, materialistic, worldly "joy", but joy deeper than the universe, over the souls saved, that His death in our place accomplished for us. His joy is not like the leering "winners" of this world, but like the father, when he saw the prodigal son afar off, and loved him, or the man who found a treasure (or a pearl of great price) in a field, and for the joy of it, sold all he had and bought the field. His joy is the rejoicing before the angels, whenever a sinner repents. Even if we succumb to fear and weariness too much of the time, He is looking out for us, just like for Elijah and so many others. The ones who call money the most important thing, in fact, call it everything, are worse off, horribly deceived, but at least much of the time, willfully so, and just seeing them as objects of pity won't change their minds or hearts, although they are pitiable, and we should pray for our enemies. This IS a veil of tears, and the devil and his followers love it so, even though God would save those people, forever. If the definition of abomination is something you really don't want to see, then this is an abominable time. And yet, it's beautiful, isn't it, when people throw off the shackles of worldly wisdom, and let their lives count for Jesus? Here and there, brethren emerge. We need to "quit ye like men" and be strong, but we also need to rest, like Elijah, in the love of God, even though the devil is seething at us and trying to make his cruelty bigger and stronger than God's mercy. It may seem bigger for awhile, sometimes, but we will be on the other side of those trials, in a little while, in a joy and kindness no one will ever take away from us, least of all, Jesus. "Fear not, little flock, for it's your father's good will to give you the kingdom". I hope you are given a place of rest and strengthening, physical and otherwise. I am sorry if this is too much of a downer, but I did not want to tell lies about this world, which is getting worse. "But be of good cheer", Jesus has "overcome the world" for us. That is the part of hope that we can rely on, and it will come through for us, though it is painful now.
